Abstract:This paper is focused on the problem of robust stabilizing a class of uncertain linear time-delay systems via observer-based dynamic output feedback control law when the full state can not be measured. The systems under consideration are linear systems with time-varying state and control delays, they also contain time-varying unknown-but-bounded uncertain parameters. A sufficient condition for the robust output feedback stabilizability of the system is derived and the control law can be constructed by solving two algebraic Riccati equations. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the obtained results.

Abstract:This paper focuses on the robust control analysis and synthesis problem of linear time-varying uncertain systems with delayed state and control when the full state can not be measured. A dynamic output feedback controller is derived to quadratically stabilize the linear time-delay system with norm-bounded uncertainty via introducing a linear delay-free state observer. Sufficient conditions for the existence of robust output feedback control law are derived and two synthesis methods are presented for robust output feedback control law to uncertain time-delay systems. One is to construct robust output feedback control law by two equivalent linear time-invariant structural description for the sufficient conditions and the control law can be obtained by solving two Algebraic Riccati Equations(ARE). The other method is to transform the sufficient conditions into two Linear Matrix Inequality(LMI) problems and the control law can be obtained by solving two LMI. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the obtained results.

Abstract:In this work, the analysis of robust stability and design of robust H ∞ output feedback controllers for a class of Lur’e systems with both time-delays and parameter uncertainties were studied. A robust H ∞ output feedback controller based on Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs) was developed to guarantee the robust stability and H ∞ performance of the resultant closed-loop system. The presented design approach is based on the application of descriptor model transformation and Park’s inequality for the bounding of cross terms and is expected to be less conservative compared to reported design methods. Finally, illustrative examples are advanced to demonstrate the superity of the obtained method.

Abstract:This paper focuses on robust stabilization analysis and synthesis for linear time-varying uncertain dynamic systems with delayed state. A dynamic output feedback controller is presented to quadratically stabilize the plant for all admissible uncertainties and the sufficient conditions for the existence of output feedback robust stabilizing controller are derived. Two equivalent linear time-invariant structural descriptions for the time-varying uncertain systems with delayed state are obtained to get the controller gain matrix and the observer gain matrix.

Abstract:This paper proposes a systematic methodology for designing robust static output feedback sliding mode control (SOFSMC) for a class of systems with mismatched uncertainties. This methodology consists of two parts: one is a new sufficient and necessary condition for the existence problem in terms of two matrix inequalities; the other is a direct solving method using the iterative linear matrix inequality (ILMI) technique. The main advantages of this method are that only original system parameters are involved without any extra coordinate changes, and that appealing to solving the static output feedback stabilization (SOFS) problem is no longer required. In addition, the ILMI algorithm includes an optimal part to avoid high control efforts. A numerical example also demonstrates the efficacy of the proposed approach.

Abstract:In this paper, the robust stability of a linear system with constant output feedback in the presence of structured uncertainty is analyzed with characterizing a region in the parameter space. A new necessary and sufficient condition of robust stability for the closed loop system with a single parameter uncertainty is given. And the algebraic expressions on a stability region of the closed loop system with multiparameter uncertainty, which is interesting in practical engineering have been derived and a sufficient condition which the closed loop system is robust stable is given also. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the results.

Abstract:The primary disadvantage of current design techniques of robust control is their inability to deal effectively with pre-specified time-domain performances of systems. We consider robust control for uncertain linear systems with pre-specified time-domain performances, i.e. for such systems with constraints on outputs of systems. Using the practical stability theory, we obtain a design procedure of robust control for uncertain linear systems with constraints on outputs of systems. The sufficient conditions of robust stability for uncertain linear systems with constraints on outputs of systems subject to a bounded exterior disturbance are described by a series of parametric conditions and linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Then a possible synthesis procedure and a numerical example are discussed

Abstract:The robust output feedback control of linear systems with cone-bounded nonlinear perturbations is considered. By using the Lyapunov approach, a sufficient robust stability condition for the closed-loop system is obtained, which is expressed in terms of closed-loop eigenvalues and eigenvectors. Based on this condition and a parametric eigenstructure assignment result, an algorithm for robust output feedback controller synthesis is presented, which ensures not only the robust stability, but also the robust performance to a certain degree. The approach has the advantage of allowing the nominal closed-loop eigenvalues to be optimized within any desired region, and the closed-loop eigenvalues so determined are naturally insensitive to small parameter perturbations in the open-loop system coefficient matrices

Abstract:For a class of uncertain nonlinear systems with time-delays in both state and control input, when in the linear part of the plant, the uncertainties are unknown but norm-bounded, and the uncertainties in the nonlinear part satisfy the so-called matching condition, this paper deals with the robust stabilization problem. The sufficient conditions for the systems under consideration to be stabilizable via state feedback or output feedback are given in terms of Riccati inequality, in the sense of global exponential stability. And we show that the controller can be designed by a simple procedure so long as obtaining the solutions of the corresponding inequalities.

Abstract:The control problem for a class of differential inclusion system with prespecified time domain performances of output was considered. The system may be converted to the nonlinear uncertain system with output constraints. Based on practical stability theory, the control problem of the system was analyzed. The design method of the nonlinear robust controller with specific time domain performance was given. The conditions of strongly practical robust stability for the system is to satisfy a series of parameter conditions and linear matrix inequalities. The simulation results have shown that the dynamic response of the closed loop system has reached time domain performance of the original design.

Abstract:Based on adaptive nonlinear damping, a robust adaptive output feedback controller is proposed for a multi-input and multi-output nonlinear system with unknown nonlinear parameters, uncertain nonlinearities, bounded disturbance, unmodeled dynamics and uncertain control parameters. It is proved that all the signals in the closed-loop are bounded and the control errors and estimation errors can be made arbitrarily small by choosing some design parameters appropriately. The controller only has an adaptive control parameter and an adaptive observer parameter no matter how high the order of the system is and how many unknown parameters there are. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

A dynamic output feedback compensator is presented to quadratically stabilize the plant and reduce the effect of the disturbance input on the controlled output to a prescribed levels for all admissible uncertainties. The sufficient conditions for the existence of the dynamic output feedback compensator are derived. An equivalent linear time-invariant discrete H∞ output feedback structural description for time-varying uncertain discrete systems is obtained to construct a dynamic robust HINF output feedback compensator.

Abstract:This paper investigates the problem of robust ℋ︁∞ static output feedback controller design for a class of discrete‐time piecewise‐affine systems with norm‐bounded time‐varying parametric uncertainties. The objective is to design a piecewise‐linear static output feedback controller guaranteeing the asymptotic stability of the resulting closed‐loop system with a prescribed ℋ︁∞ disturbance attenuation level. Based on a piecewise Lyapunov function combined with S‐procedure, Projection lemma, and some matrix inequality convexifying techniques, several novel approaches to the static output feedback controller analysis and synthesis are developed for the underlying piecewise‐affine systems. It is shown that the controller gains can be obtained by solving a set of strict linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) or a family of LMIs parameterized by one or two scalar variables, which are numerically efficient with commercially available software. Finally, three simulation examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approaches. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the problem of robust (infinity) dynamic output feedback control for 2D discrete-time linear parameter-varying systems. Given a Fornasini-Marchesini local state-space system with linear varying parameters, our attention is focussed on the design of full-order (infinity) dynamic output feedback controller, which guarantees the closed-loop system to be asymptotically stable and has a prescribed (infinity) disturbance attenuation performance. A sufficient condition for the existence of a desired robust output feedback controller is established in terms of parameterized linear matrix inequalities, and the corresponding controller synthesis is cast into a convex optimization problem which can be efficiently handled by using standard numerical software. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed design method.
