Abstract:It has become one of important topics to research and develop the cathode materials for lithium (Li) ion batteries. Current investigations focused mainly on three types of Li-rich metal oxides, LiCoO_2, LiNiO_2 and LiMn_2O_4. In this article, the synthesis methods of cathode materials for Li-ion batteries were summarized. The structures and electrochemical performances of several different cathode materials were compared. The characteristics and problems associated with the cathode materials were pointed out. In addition to provide a brief overview of the current research activities in the field of cathode materials, the progress in the field via a computational approach was also reviewed. The formation energy, phase diagram, voltage, crystal structural parameter and density of state can be calculated using VASP software package.

Abstract:A review with 42 references was given on the cathode materials of Li-Ion batteries.The structure,synthesis,electrochemical properties and modification of lithium cobalt oxide,lithium nickel oxide and lithium manganese oxide were introduced.Some of the new cathode materials such as the nano-scale cathode materials were introduced too.And pure phase,ultrafine powders of LiCoO_2 with ideal α-NaFeO_2 structure(R3m) were prepared under mild hydrothermal conditions.

Abstract:As one of the key factors for determining the electrochemical properties,lithium storage materials have become the focus in the research field of lithium-ion battery materials.The progress in the lithium storage materia-ls as anodes for lithium-ion batteries is reviewed,but it is not the scope to retrace the overall studies.The survey highlights electrochemical characteristics,lithium storage mechanism and main ways for improving electrochemical properties of three types of lithium storage materials.In addition,it also discusses the technical challenges and future directions for lithium storage materials as anodes for lithium-ion batteries.

Abstract:The annual and linguistic distributions of papers published in academic journals and patents both applied and issued in the world about cathodic materials,such as LiCoO2,LiNiO2,LiMn2O4,LiFePO4,LiNi0.8Co0.2O2 and Li（CoMnNi）1/3O2,for Li-ion battery were investigated.The progresses and challenges in studies on the former four materials for Li-ion battery were reviewed.The improvements of cycling capacities and capacity retentions,and safety of those cathodic materials especially used at high rate charge-discharge,through doping,coating and particle size fining as well as new designing cathodic components were extensively discussed.

Abstract:The current status of the development of graphite, silicon, and transition metal oxide anodes based on lithium‐ion batteries is discussed. Since the invention of lithium‐ion batteries as a rechargeable energy storage system, it has uncommonly promoted the development of society. It has a wide variety of applications in electronic equipment, electric automobiles, hybrid vehicles, and aerospace. As an indispensable component of lithium‐ion batteries, anode materials play an essential role in the electrochemical characteristics of lithium‐ion batteries. In this review, we described the development from lithium‐metal batteries to lithium‐ion batteries in detail on the time axis as the first step; This was followed by an introduction to several commonly used anode materials, including graphite, silicon, and transition metal oxide with discussions the charge‐discharge mechanism, challenges and corresponding strategies, and a collation of recent interesting work; Finally, three anode materials are summarized and prospected. Hopefully, this review can serve both the newcomers and the predecessors in the field.

Abstract:The importance of lithium-ion batteries is becoming increasingly clear as the world's need for clean energy grows. However, the challenges of realizing their higher energy density, stability and safety remain to be overcome. This paper discusses the working principle of Li-ion batteries and the importance of their core components, then explores the research significance of cathode, anode materials and electrolytes, respectively, and describes the current mainstream materials and their current challenges and optimization strategies. In terms of positive electrode materials, this paper introduces mainstream materials such as Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (NMC), Nickel Cobalt Aluminum Oxide (NCA), and Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP), and puts forward strategies to improve energy density and enhance stability; in terms of negative electrode materials, this paper lists core materials such as graphite and silicon, and discusses the issues of volume change and how to improve stability, etc. In the electrolyte section, it not only introduces the mainstream electrolytes such as organic liquid electrolytes and solid electrolytes, but also analyzes and discusses the problems of how to improve their ionic conductivity. By synthesizing these reviews and strategies, this paper aims to promote the progress and development of lithium-ion battery technology and bring new research perspectives and values.

Abstract:Rechargeable lithium batteries have been widely regarded as a revolutionary technology to store renewable energy sources and extensively researched in the recent several decades. As an indispensable part of lithium batteries, the evolution of anode materials has significantly promoted the development of lithium batteries. However, since conventional lithium batteries with graphite anodes cannot meet the ever-increasing demands in different application scenarios(such as electric vehicles and large-scale power supplies) which require high energy/power density and long cycle life, various improvement strategies and alternative anode materials have been exploited for better electrochemical performance.In this review, we detailedly introduced the characteristics and challenges of four representative anode materials for rechargeable lithium batteries, including graphite, Li 4 Ti 5 O 12 , silicon, and lithium metal.And some of the latest advances are summarized, which mainly contain the modification strategies of anode materials and partially involve the optimization of electrode/electrolyte interface. Finally, we make the conclusive comments and perspectives, and draw a development timeline on the four anode materials. This review aims to offer a good primer for newcomers in the lithium battery field and benefit the structure and material design of anodes for advanced rechargeable lithium batteries in the future.

Abstract:Studies of carbonaceous materials, tin-based materials and Sn-Fe-C alloying materials for anode materials of lithium ion secondary battery have been reviewed. The three kinds of materials have a common structural character which is during the course of lithium intercalated and deintercalated the materials formed active/inactive structure. The active center reacts with lithium providing capacity and inactive matrix acts as network providing cycling life. The physical mechanism for lithium insertion and the active/inactive structure have been analyzed.

Abstract:Lithium ion batteries (LIBs) possess energy densities higher than those of the conventional batteries, but their lower power densities and poor cycling lives are critical challenges for their applications to electric vehicles (EVs) or grid stations. The energy and power densities, as well as the life of LIBs are dependent on electrodes where sluggish diffusion control process and structural stability are the main concerns. Here, the lithium storage mechanism of anode materials and the Goodenough diagram to explain the potential of cell and key parameters to determine the performance of an anode are highlighted. The cost reduction parameters and the availability of anode materials for future batteries on the basis of their resources and performances will be discussed. Further, the recent progress on anode nanostructures and solutions to the associated challenges will be outlined. The use of several techniques to determine the dynamic variations in nanostructures including both structural and chemical changes of electrode nanostructures during cycling as well as the limitations for high load applications will be explained. Finally, the concluding remarks will highlight the characteristics for both anode and cathode for better choice of electrode combinations in the full batteries.

Abstract:Thanks to the promotion of new energy vehicles, the industry of lithium-ion batteries has ushered in its booming period. The current industry of lithium ion batteries is in rapid development with great potential. Therefore, many researchers have turned to focus on lithium ion batteries to obtain better lithium ion batteries. In this paper, the literature review of cathode materials for lithium ion batteries is to be carried out from the following aspects, including the overview of lithium ion batteries, their basic performance indexes, and the classification and preparation methods of cathode materials. Besides, the present situation and modification strategies of cathode materials for lithium ion batteries will be further analyzed, so as to improve their electrochemical performance.

Abstract:The Li-ion battery represents one of the most important and most technically challenging components of electric vehicles. The cathode is one of the three key components (i.e., cathode, anode, and electrolyte) of the Li-ion battery and determines the battery quality. The demand for higher energy density, lower cost, and environmentally friendly batteries makes Li-rich layered oxides xLi(2)MnO(3)center dot(1 - x)LiMO2 (LR-NMC) among the most attractive candidates for future cathode materials. In this review, we discuss the state-of-the-art research activities related to LR-NMC materials, including their structures, mechanisms of high capacity and large voltage, challenges, and strategies that have been studied to improve their performances. Finally, we conclude with some personal perspectives for the future development of LR-NMC materials.

Abstract:Abstract With the development of electric vehicles and clean energy, the demand for lithium batteries as an important energy storage system has increased significantly in the past decades. Anode, an indispensable part in lithium batteries system, is currently mainly selected from carbon-based materials, silicon-based, tin-based alloys, and metallic lithium materials. Lithium battery with traditional carbon-based material can basically meet the requirements of most current consumer electronics products. Silicon-based and metallic lithium materials have greater development potential in terms of high energy density anode. This article introduces the carbon-based materials, silicon-based, metallic lithium materials and their common modification methods that have been widely studied at the current stage and discusses the future development trends of various anode materials.

Abstract:LiCoO2 has been the most widely used cathode material in commercial Li-ion batteries. Nevertheless, cobalt has economic and environmental problems that leave the door open to exploit alternative cathode materials, among which, LiFeO2 with similar rock-salt structure to LiCoO2, has been paid more attention due to most abundance and non-toxicity of Fe. Recent advances in LiFeO2-based cathode materials are summarized in this paper. The preparation and the performance are reviewed, and the future LiFeO2-based promising cathode materials are also prospected.

Abstract:Electrode material plays a key role in the manufacture and application of lithium ion batteries. The development of high performance lithium ion batteries mainly depends on the new anode materials. Research on lithium ion batteries focus on modifing commercialized anode material and developing new anode material. The latest studies on anode materials for lithium ion batteries were reviewed ,including lithium alloys, transition metal nitrides, and transition metal phosphides. The charge/discharge reaction mechanisms and electrochemical performances of alloys were discussed specially. The developing trend of the anode material was prospected and the most promising anode material for lithium ion batteries was also proposed. The results show that commercialization of alloys is the key to enhancing the capacity of lithium ion batteries.

Abstract:In recent years, a great deal of investigation has been performed for lithium-ion batteries ascribing to their high operating voltage, high energy density, and long cycle life. However, the traditional anode materials suffer from slow kinetics, serious volume expansion, and interface instability during charging and discharging, which encounter tremendous challenges in the development of lithium-ion batteries. It is worth mentioning that the coating strategy can effectively overcome aforementioned issues. It provides the satisfactory electrochemical performance. While giving the anode material excellent ionic/electronic conductivity, elastic performance, and inert interface layer, making it stable and continuous in the lithium-ion battery system. So far, the research of coated anode materials is still in the development stage, and the problems of lithium-ion batteries still need to be solved. In this review, the latest progress of coating materials is reviewed. From the perspective of preparation, the latest methods of coating anode materials reported so far are systematically discussed. A series of critical challenges, constructive solutions, and future trends of coated anode materials are specifically proposed.

Abstract:Recently the world is suffering from insufficiency of natural energy resources in comparison to higher energy consumption, lack of environmental health (Climate change, Air-pollution, plastic waste and so on) and the sudden enhanced usage of- portable electronics, electric vehicles, HEV on daily bases- motivates scientist to invent new, efficient, clean and low-cost alternative energy resources such as- Lithium Ion Battery. On account of high capacity, fast charge-discharge rates, light weight, long lifetime, high stability Lithium-ion batteries are very promising energy storage devices. Their great electrochemical performance makes them commercially viable. These rechargeable batteries have proved themselves as a rising star and contain a lot more potential to fulfil the future energy requirements. This paper will highlight a review on Li-ion Batteries from their birth till now, the growth and increments on their fabrication techniques and represents advantages of carbonic anodes. It also gives us an idea about why carbon-based nanostructures (graphite, graphene, CNTs, CQDs, and GQDs) and their composites are the best choice of anode materials for Li-ion Batteries. We hope to present a brief knowledge about different carbon-based anode with comprehensive study of different anodic materials which were already available in the literature.
