Abstract:With the advance in virtual reality applications, garment industry has strived for new developments. This paper reviews state-of-the-art CAD methods in 3D garment design. A large range of techniques are selected and organized into several key modules which form the core of a 3D garment design technology platform. In each module, basic techniques are presented first. Then advanced developments are systematically discussed and commented. The selected key modules – digital human modeling, 3D garment design and modification, numerical integration of draping, 2D pattern generation, geometric details modeling, parallel computation and GPU acceleration – are discussed in turn. Major challenges and solutions that have been addressed over the years are discussed. Finally, some of the ensuing challenges in 3D garment CAD technologies are outlined.

Abstract:We present an intuitive method that seamlessly integrates the whole process of garment design including 3D modeling, pattern development, garment simulation, and grading. Firstly, a sketch-based modeling method is proposed to design a 3D garment using editable control curves. Secondly, 2D patterns are developed by flattening 3D surface patches, then a 3D fine garment is formed directly based on the information of sewing relations and correspondence between 3D surfaces and 2D patterns. Lastly, garment templates are introduced to realize automatic design-preserving transfer of garments between human bodies with different sizes and shapes. The method is able to design 3D garments and 2D patterns efficiently and accurately. Our study provides an easy-to-learn and easy-to-use tool for both fashion designers and computer artists.

Abstract:To support rapid apparel design,based on its design knowledge,the integration of computer aided design(CAD) and product data management(PDM) was researched.To manage design knowledge effectively,design knowledge of apparel was divided into innovative development knowledge and agile design knowledge,with both constituting apparel design knowledge base.Users can get knowledge from this knowledge base expediently.Consequently,the time of apparel design will be shortened.Important function of apparel PDM and CAD was analyzed,and a logic data structure of the integration was put forward,based on which the integration of CAD and PDM was deep and close,which can increase the efficiency of apparel innovative development and shorten time of agile design and improve design quality.Based on the integrated system,pattern variant design can be accomplished rapidly and exactly.

Abstract:The apparel DFMC method based on the design repository could be summarized into two aspects: the style configuration design aimed for basic outside looking and structure, and the variant design aimed for apparel size. The framework of the apparel design repository was proposed,and a structural model of the repository was built. The specific processes and approaches of configuration design and variant design were introduced. The style configuration design was based on the apparel product family structure model. It was a process of structure model instantiation according to customers' demand and configuration rules. The variant design performed the transforming of apparel patterns based on the rule base.

Abstract:The elements of traditional clothing must take fashion as its carrier to transfer the value because fashion is the main factor that makes Chinese traditional culture enjoyed by other ethnic groups. Chinese Traditional Clothing Arts has its profound cultural background and broad space for re-creation which is inexhaustible inspiration sources for designers. However, due to a late start, there is still a large gap between the design and theoretical research of Chinese-style clothing and other designs with strong American and Japanese colors in the market. This paper takes the Chinese traditional elements used by fashion designers at home and abroad as the breakthrough point. Through in-depth study of Chinese Traditional Clothing Arts and its cultural connotation, it explores the integration between traditional Chinese elements and fashion design and also puts forward some distinctive ideas about Chinese clothing fashion design.

Abstract:This article works at relatively detailed analysis,which aims at the problem exists between the designing and the producing of woolen sweater in recent years.It also points out that,now,at market oriented economy envirenment,the enterpriser should see that it should establish scientific supply and demend relationship between the products and the customer demanding,the designer should be faced with this marketing envirenment with the enterpriser,and they should also adjust their designing idea to the track of commercial designing.Meanwhile,they should examine their designing according to five respects as follows,founding new designing views,having sufficient understanding of feature and function of knitting weave,exploiting new field of the woolen sweater application,paying attention to vogue and age,innovating the designing means.

Abstract:Development & design are the key stages of mass customization for apparel.The process of apparel development & design for mass customization can be reengineered into two phases,i.e.,innovative development and agile design.Fashions base,parts base and patterns base are built up after the development process and support the design process.The DFMC methods for apparel are proposed,which consist of the development of modularized product,apparel modeling,fashion customization,pattern variant design and cutting scheme design.The general framework of integrated platform of apparel design for mass customization is given.An integrated platform of DFMC for apparel is quoted in this research as an example.

Abstract:Fused deposition modeling (FDM) is utilized in the textile and apparel industry due to its adaptability, low cost, and high productivity. Promoting the efficient, diversified, and sustainable development of the textile and apparel industry, and to broaden the scope of application for FDM technology. This paper discusses the fundamental principles, design, and manufacturing processes of FDM printing of textiles and garments, as well as a summary of the commonly used materials for FDM printing of textiles and garments and their associated performance parameters. By examining the forming quality of textiles and garments, we analyze the influencing factors in the four phases of computer aided design (CAD) modeling, model slicing, forming processing, and post-finishing, and propose solutions to potential issues. Finally, case studies are used to summarise the primary applications of FDM in textile and apparel manufacturing, and the challenges and prospects of FDM in textiles and apparel are discussed. The application of FDM in the textiles and apparel industry not only promotes the advancement of manufacturing technology innovation, but also demonstrates a broader range of application value in terms of design development, functional properties, material combinations, and other factors.

Abstract:Three-dimensional printing (3DP) allows for the creation of highly complex products and offers customization for individual users. It has generated significant interest and shows great promise for textile and fashion design. Here, we provide a timely and comprehensive review of 3DP technology for the textile and fashion industries according to recent advances in research. We describe the four 3DP methods for preparing textiles; then, we summarize three routes to use 3DP technology in textile manufacturing, including printing fibers, printing flexible structures and printing on textiles. In addition, the applications of 3DP technology in fashion design, functional garments and electronic textiles are introduced. Finally, the challenges and prospects of 3DP technology are discussed.

Abstract:The main shortages of traditional design for silk garment are: stylized design concept; simple and plane model; lack of diversified skin texture; and the color limit to the inherent quality of silk fabric, not fit for diversified and personalized aesthetic need of modern people. This paper breaks through traditional fabric design, and proposes optimization design methods of modern silk garment. The methods include matching different silk fabrics with different textures, or matching silk fabrics with other fabrics such as leather, fur, jean and knits.

Abstract:‘The word “fashion” is synonymous with the word “change”. Fashion begins with fabrics and fabrics begin with colour’. This famous remark/definition of ‘fashion’ must now be revised in the era of digital technology. In this paper, we propose a novel print design concept, from 3D garments to 2D textiles. By taking advantage of the cutting-edge developments in surface parameterisation, cloth simulation and texture assignment, we develop a computer system that allows designers to create figure-flattering prints directly onto 3D garments, and will output 2D pattern pieces with matched texture that are ready for digital printing and garment production. It reverses the traditional design process from 2D fabrics to 3D garments. The results produced by the proposed method guarantee textural continuity in both garment and pattern pieces. It not only releases apparel makers from the tedious work of matching texture along seams, but also provides users with a new tool to create one-of-a-kind fashion products by designing personalised prints.
Innovation of Pleat Design Method of Silk Clothing

Abstract:Pleat design of silk clothing is a clothing design method integrating traditional and modern clothing design languages.This paper points out that the current difficulty of design creation consists in how to keep morphological characteristics of pleat of silk clothing so as to improve the design concept through analysis on design creation method of pleat of silk clothing;advocates combining various structural processes and decoration methods in the design process so as to achieve artistic innovation in appearance modeling with rich texture effects of various pleats as the origin of creativity;emphasizes the key role of pleat technology in the process;provides a solution with strong operability for professional creation problems through case analysis on pleat clothing brand Janetwear;meanwhile analyzes the relationship between modeling features of various silk pleats and design innovation techniques adopted;achieves the transformation of advantages and disadvantages of silk pleat design and enriches the fashion language of silk clothing design.

Abstract:The framework of apparel design resource repository was proposed on the basis of analysis of the status of apparel design resources and the functions of the repository. An apparel product family model was established to express the repository structure, and a content-relation model was established to express the resources content and their relations between each other. Then the process of resource retrieving was presented, which disaggregated the customer demands and built a match with the repository data object instances. And the applications of the repository in apparel design for mass customization (DFMC) were introduced. By establishing the design repository, different design resources can be effectively organized, reused and shared in the process of DFMC, which significantly promotes the efficiency and quality of apparel DFMC.

Abstract:Abstract The vigorous development of 3D printing technology has brought more innovative design inspiration to Fashion design. Designers have launched 3D printed clothing that subverts the traditional aesthetic. Taking the 3D printing parametric Fashion design method, process technology and material analysis as the premise of the study, the article discusses the innovative application of 3D printing technology in Fashion design from three aspects, including 3D printed clothing natural aesthetic design, bionic design and fusion with big data. In the innovative research of 3D printed clothing, the design aesthetics of Iris van Hrpen is viewed as an example to analyse the aesthetic form of clothing. Furthermore, the article explores the aesthetic meaning and styling characteristics of 3D printed clothing and explains aesthetic characteristics from the perspective of design science. The feasibility of 3D printed Fashion design was discussed from the perspective of shape, color and texture bionics. The fusion of 3D printing technology and big data has gradually become an inevitable trend, and fresh forms of Fashion are booming.

Abstract:Clothing CAD technology is a bridge that combines clothing design and high technology, and is one of the important fields of computer science and technology in the art kingdom. The style-based intelligent clothing style structure design system studied in this paper is mainly for users or design lovers who are not major in clothing design, so that they can realize the intelligent design of a certain style and style series in the friendly human-computer interaction, thereby replacing the Traditional designer hand creation process. This paper presents the system architecture, designs and completes the interactive interface, analyzes and implements the automatic splicing and adjustment functions of style components provided by the system, and explores and implements style-based style retrieval. Through the overall analysis of the intelligent clothing style structure design system, this paper develops a very good clothing design interface with VC. The author innovatively proposes the idea of "primitive structure" and "function simulation", and realizes the process of using computer to draw clothing accessories, so that the generated accessories can be accurately fitted along the given curve during clothing design, and provides the interface parameters make clothing accessories adjustable and controllable, which better realizes intelligence and facilitates the use of the client.

Abstract:With the rapid development of Internet technology, its computer-assisted functions are also rapidly improving and the changes in computer functions have brought great convenience to all the aspects of life. In the clothing industry, the application of computer-aided technology and the production of sample clothing and the rendering of clothing have been introduced. This method greatly shortens the cycle of making and designing clothes and also greatly reduces the workload of the staff. The main content of this article is to explore the influence of the application of CAD on clothing design. Starting from the actual needs of digitally designed clothing, the formation model of clothing and the basis of digital application are derived. In this article, computer-aided technique is used as a modeling development tool and its related functions are introduced through methods such as multideformation modeling and NURBS surface modeling. According to the functional characteristics of the computer-aided dye applicator, it is concluded that the dyeing effect of the model is also diverse, and then the virtual display effect of the digital three-dimensional model of the clothing is obtained. Through the digital design, the clothing design can not only meet the functional requirements but its performance also meets the reliability, stability, and safety. The experimental results show that with the increase of W, the area of the two-dimensional unfolding film gradually increases and the amplitude becomes smaller and finally stabilizes at 0.1263.
