Abstract:With the acid of polarizability effect index (PEI) of alkyl group, equilibrium electronegativity of affinity atom in molecules (X-E) and Pauling electronegativity of affinity atom (X) the common rule of gas phase basicity (PA) for aliphatic amines, alcohols, ethers has been investigated. The results indicate that PA of aliphatic amines, alcohols, ethers can quantitatively be described as follows:PA (KJ/mol) = 2468.6730 + 557.3172 Sigma PEI - 551.4261 X-E - 1230.5770(Sigma PEI/X-E) - 111.5537 XBased on this relation, the gas phase basicities of 64 aliphatic amines,alcohols, ethers are predicted with average absolute relative error less than or equal to0.34%.
Studies on the Relationship Between Densities and Refractive Indexes of Alkyl Amine and Its Molecular Structure

Abstract:An approach based on the molecular topology is used to study the relationship between densities, refractive indexes of alkyl amine and its molecular structure, and a quantitative relation is developed which can be used to characterize the structure-property relationship of alkyl amine, and predict the densities and refractive indexes of liquid alkyl amines at 293K where y is the density or refractive index, λ and ai (i= 0-4) are constants, Wk, P3, S1 and S2 are respectively the first, second, third and fourth order structural information indexes defined in this paper. The results calculated show that the predicted values of densities and refractive indexes agree with the experimental data satisfactorily, and the mean relative deviations are 0.247% and 0.070% respectively for density and refractive index for 99 kinds of alkyl amines. Not only can the quantitative relation predict the density and refractive index but also can help to dilineate structure-property relationship of the matter.
Studies on the Quantitative Relation Between Molar Volume of Alkane and MOlecular Structure Using Topological Method

Abstract:Based on characteristics and connectivity of the groups in molecules,a method,which combined the group contribution method and topological method together,was developed,and can be used to calculate the molar volume of alkane from molecular structure.The calculated results show that the calculated molar volume of alkane were in good agreement with the experimental data,and the mean relative deviation was 0.113% for 725 alkanes,and had advantages over the group contribution method.

Abstract:A newly developed topological vector of atom Y-c equilibrium electro-negativity of atom q(1), molecular structural information parameter [N-H(i) (i = alpha, beta)] and gamma calibration parameter were used to describe the local chemical microenvironment of 63 acyclic alcoholic compounds. Quantitative structural spectrum relationships (QSSR) was systematically made on relationship between C-13 NMR chemical shifts of 353 carbon atoms and their molecular structure descriptors. By partial least square regression (PLS), the statistical results indicated that the model con-elation coefficient and standard error were 0.9915 and 2.4827, respectively. And the average absolute error was only 2.01 x 10(-6) between the calculated and experimental chemical shifts for 353 carbon atoms. To validate the estimation stability for internal samples and the predictive capability for external samples of resulting models, leave-molecule-out(LMO) cross validation(CV) and external validation were performed. Compared with the reported result, not only the number of descriptors employed in this study was much fewer, but also the calculation was much easier.

Abstract:Based on the two basic characteristics,the distance between atoms and the connectivity among atoms, a new molecular distance-connectivity vector of alkanes is proposed to describe the molecular structure of compounds. Quantitative structure property relationship on two important thermodynamic properties,heat of atomization and heat of vaporization,of 74 alkanes from two to nine carbon atoms is proposed by multiple linear regression method. The result shows that the new molecular distance-connectivity vector has both excellent structural selectivity and property relativity. Besides,it is easy to calculate this new molecular distance-conectivity vector.
Studies on the Relationship Between Boiling Points of Alkyl Naphthalenes and Their Molecular Structures by Using Molecular Topology

Abstract:An approach based on the molecular topology is used to study the relationship between the boiling points of alkyl naphthalenes and their molecular structures, and a quantitative relation is developed which can be used to characterize the structure-property relationship and to predict the boiling points of alkyl naphthalenes. The results show that the predicted boiling points are in good agreement with the experimental data, and the mean relative deviation is 0.43% and absolute deviation is 2.37K for 70 kinds of alkyl naphthalenes (C 10 ～C 22 ). Not only can the quantitative relation be predicted of the boiling points of alkyl naphthalenes, but can help to understand the structure-property relationship of matter.

Abstract:An extented molecular distance-edge (MDE, mu) vector of chain hydrocarbons including alkanes, alkens, alkynes, dienes, and alkenynes are defined and calculated. Quantitative structure property relationship (M1) on boiling point of chain hydrocarbons is proposed by multiple linear regression method with good results: root mean square error RMS = 4. 69K and correlation coefficient R = 0. 9976, Random sampling modeling and cross validation (CV) procedure are also performed and satisfactory results have been obtained with average correlation coefficient being R = 0. 9975, 0. 9971 and average RMS = 4. 72K, 4. 83K respectively. In order to generalize MDE for other organic compounds, a novel molecular distance-edge (MDE) vector, which can be applied to discribe the molecular structure of both fatty aldehydes and fatty alkanones, is developed by using dying factors to express the carboxyl ( > CO) based on a molecular distance-edge (MDE) vector of alkanes and the QSPR model between the new MDE vector and boiling point (T-b) is also developed for 72 aldehyde and alkanone compounds with good results: R = 0. 9989 and RMS = 3. 93K. Random modeling procedure is also performed with average correlation coefficient being R = 0. 9990 and average root mean square error RMS = 4. 12K; and quantitative prediction is done with R = 0. 9980 and RMS = 5. 52K. All these results show that the MDE vector is a useful vector in QSPR/QSAR studies.

Abstract:Based on the chemical topology and characteristics of molecular structure,the quantitative relation between critical pressure and molecular structure of alkanes is studied,and a new method is developed which can be used to predict the critical temperatures of alkanes from the molecular structure information.The results show that the predicted critical pressures agreed with the experimental data satisfactorily,the predicted error is less than 2% for 98% of the calculated alkanes,and the mean relative deviation is 0.528% for 160 kinds of alkanes,which is less than that of the group contribution method

Abstract:An approach based on the chemical topology is used to study relationship between density of fatty ester and its molecular structure, distance matrix and dyeing matrix are used to describle the molecular structure, different factors are proposed to distinguish the difference among atoms in molecules, and a quantitative relation is developed which can be used to characterize the structure -property relationship and to predict the densities of fatty esters. The results show that the predicted values of densities are in good agreement with the experimental data, and the mean relative deviation is 0.545% for 137 kinds of fatty esters. Not only can the quantitative relation predict the densities of fatty esters, but can help to discover the secret among the structure - property relationship.
Quantitative Relation Between Boiling Points of Haloenated Methanes and Molecular Structure

Abstract:A correlation was investigated between the boiling points and molecular structure of halogenated methanes, and a new method was developed to calculate and predict the boiling points of halogenated methanes. The results showed that the calculated boiling points are in good agreement with the experimental data, and the mean relative deviation was 1.75% for 40 halogenated methanes. The boiling points of 25 halogenated methanes were predicted for reference and testing in the future.

Abstract:An extensive and reliable database of thermodynamic properties of C6-C12 aromatic molecules is constructed by using quantum chemistry calculations. There are 101 molecules in total, which cover a variety of structures including mono-substituted, di-substituted, and bi-cyclic aromatics which can be important intermediates in the combustion of alkylbenzenes. Based on the database, a consistent set of Benson group additive values (GAV) and non-nearest neighbor interactions (NNI) is developed to extend the applicability of Benson's group additivity method for aromatic molecules. Meanwhile, GAVs of existing groups are also updated to improve their accuracy. Geometry optimizations, and vibrational frequency calculations are conducted at the M06-2X/6-311++G(d,p) level of theory. Internal rotor potentials for lower-frequency modes are obtained at the M06-2X/6-31G level of theory. G3 and G4 compound methods are used to derive the 0 K enthalpies of formation via the atomization approach. The entropy and temperature-dependent heat capacity values of all species are calculated via the Master Equation System Solver (MESS) code. This work also provides an extensive literature comparison to validate the calculated results, and good agreement is observed with literature data. The correction terms beyond a group range are explored. The NNIs of di-substituted aromatics with substituents including OH, CHO, and CH3 groups are reported. Entropy reduction is observed in the molecules with two substituents in the ortho position, which mainly derives from the hindered internal rotations. In addition, ring strain corrections (RSC) of dicyclic aromatics are evaluated. The strain energies of molecules with a four-membered side ring are prominently large, as the bond length and bond angle distortions are severely restricted. Ring strain also plays a key role in the C-H bond strength associated with the benzylic carbons in dicyclic aromatics. The loss of a hydrogen atom can destroy the high ring-strain geometry leading to a large C-H bond energy.

Abstract:In this paper, a new method of calculating delta (delta(i)(z)) of bonding atoms in molecules is proposed. Based on the delta(i)(z) a novel molecular connectivity index X-m(z) is set up as X-m(z) = Sigma (delta(i)(z) . delta(j)(z) . delta(k)(z)......)(-0.5), in which X-0(z) and X-1(z) are defined as X-0(z) = Sigma(delta(i)(z))(-0.5) and X-1(z) = Sigma(delta(i)(z).delta(j)(z))(-0.5). Correlation between the X-0(z), X-1(z) and the boiling points for aliphatic unsaturated hydrocarbons is studied. The results show that the topological index has good structureproperty correlativity. Relationships between the three molecular structure parameters of X-0(z), X-1(z) and N ( N refers to the number of carbon atoms in molecules), and the boiling points for 80 alkenes, 39 alkynes and 169 aliphatic unsaturated hydrocarbons were examined, respectively, and the following three variable regression equations were obtained: for alkenes, log(779.13 - bp) = 2.822433 - 0.0133346 X-0(z) - 0.0638379 X-1(z) + 0.0111229N ( R = 0.99895, F = 202783.65, s = 3.36); for alkynes, log(797.47 - bp) = 2.809912 - 0.0108374 X-0(z) - 0.0864540 X-1(z) + 0.0233028N (R = 0.99935, F = 98657.36, s = 3.65); and for aliphatic unsaturated hydrocarbons, log (741.26 - bp) = 2.779526 + 0.0194388 X-0(z) - 0.0519158 X-1(z) - 0.0211047N (R = 0.99467, F = 82387.26, s = 7.74). These experimental formulae can be used to predict the boiling points of the hydrocarbons.
Calculating the Molar Refraction of Aromatic Hydrocarbons Using the Quantitative Structure-Property Relationship

Abstract:Based on characteristics and connectivity of the groups in molecules,a method which combined the group contribution method and topological method together was developed,and can be used to calculate the molar refraction of aromatic hydrocarbons from molecular structure.The calculated results show that the calculated molar refraction of aromatic hydrocarbons were in good agreement with the experimental date,and the mean relative deviation was 0 55% for 211 aromatic hydrocarbons (including alkyl benzenes,alkyl naphthalense and diphenylalkanes),and had advantages over the group contribution method.

Abstract:Molecular structural parameters including inductive effect index(∑I),equilibrium electronegativity of atom(XE),total electron of atom nuclear external(∑e),total bond length of substituents to center atom(∑d) and electronegativity margin for all substituents(ΔX) were used model the 13C chemical shift of 45 halogenated methane.It was found that the quantitative structure-spectrum relationship model can be expressed as follows: δC=-7403.8022-47.1765∑I+4290.0270XE-3.3067ΔX-163.4672∑d-4.5153∑e+22.9851∑e/∑d+15.2597∑e/XE-890.2521∑d/XE.The square of the correlation coefficients of the proposed model in multiple linear regression and cross validation(CV)using leave-one-out(LOO)were 0.9951 and 0.9950,respectively.These results suggested that the model proposed provide a good quantitative structure-spectrum relationship between 13C NMR chemical shift of halogenated methane and its molecular structural parameters,and could be used to calculate 13C NMR chemical shift of halogenated methane with known structure.

Abstract:In this paper, a new approach to measure Lewis acidity and basicity of benzene and its derivates, by molecular forces as predomaint mechanism is presented. The difference between partition coefficients in various solvent systems is mainly due to solvent‐solute interactions which are Lewis acid‐base action in a broad sense on the basis of valency‐bond theory. The logarithm difference of partition coefficients of compounds in di‐n‐butyl ether/water and in cyclohexane/water systems were used as the measurement of Lewis acidity, while the logarithm difference of partition coefficients in cholorform/water and in carbon tetrachloride/water systems were used as the measurement of Lewis basicity. Then, both qualitative analysis and quantitative comparison with solvatochromic parameters (hydrogen donor acidity α, hydrogen acceptor β, and dipolarity/polarizability π∗) were presented for these two parameters, which showed that they were reasonable although obtained by an approximate method. Finally, they were used to estimate octanol/water partition coefficients and water solubility in place of solvatochromic parameters successfully.

Abstract:High-quality regression equations (R greater than 0.996) modeling the gas chromatographic retention indices of 115 odor-active compounds on stationary phases of different polarity are generated by using the ADAPT software system. Multiple linear regression techniques are used to describe the statistical relationship between the Kováts retention indices and structure-based molecular descriptors. These descriptors encode topological, geometrical, and electronic features of the molecules. The utility of several new descriptors encoding functions of partial atomic charge and solvent accessible surface area is demonstrated. Quantitative predictions of odor threshold values for a subset of these compounds containing the alcohol functional group are also calculated by using a similar methodology.

Abstract:The accurate measurement and calculation of molecular electron affinity has been a hot topic.The existing theoretical study does not consider the effect of different basic sets,various correlation effects and zero point energy correction.In addition,there are deviations between different calculation results or calculations and experimental measurements.Therefore,we conduct a high-level ab initio study on the electron affinities of CO 2 、OCS、CS 2 and their corresponding anions CO 2 - 、OCS - 、CS 2 - adopting the coupled cluster with singles and doubles (triples)(CCSD (T)),spin-unrestricted open-shell coupled cluster with singles and doubles (triples)(UCCSD (T)),respectively.The equilibrium geometry of the ground state of these molecules is calculated under a series of extended correlation consistent basis sets aug-cc-pV (X+d) Z (X=T,Q,5) and complete basis set extrapolation (CBS) limit.The effects of core-valence (CV) electron correlation and scalar relativistic (SR) on equilibrium geometry of the ground state are studied,and our results compare with previous experimental observations and theoretical data.Our calculations are in good agreement with the previous results.It is found that the calculations of equilibrium geometries of these molecules tend to converge.It’s noted that scalar relativistic effect has little influence on the equilibrium structure of the neutral molecules,while one has more significant effect on the bond angle of CS 2 - .With the increase of atomic number,the core-valence correlation effect has more remarkable influence on the equilibrium structure of ground state of CS 2 and CS 2 - molecules except for R C-S of OCS - .Based on accurate structures,the adiabatic energies of neutral molecules CO 2 、OCS、CS 2 by CCSD (T) method and ones of CO 2 - 、OCS - 、CS 2 - using UCCSD (T) and spin-restricted open-shell coupled cluster with singles and doubles (triples)(RCCSD (T)) are calculated,respectively,and finally the adiabatic electron affinity (EA) of the neutral molecules CO 2 、OCS、CS 2 are obtained.The effect of different basis sets,CBS,correlation effects and zero-point energy correction on the EA values of these molecules is investigated.It’s found that both the scalar relativistic and the core-valence correlation effects affect the EA of neutral molecules,and the core-valence correlation effect has a more significant effect on the EA value.The results show that the correlation effect has more significant influence on the adiabatic EA than the equilibrium structure of the ground state of neutral molecules.Based on the CBS+ΔCV+ΔDK+ΔZPE calculation,accurate EA information is acquired.Our results of EA values are within the experimental error.This work will enrich the information of spectral constants and electron affinity of carbon-containing triatomic molecules,and provide an important reference for experimental spectral analysis.

Abstract:We optimized a series of Alkane,Aromatic hydrocarbons,Alcohol and calculated their energies (total energy,bond,angle, dihedral,vdw,stretch-bend,epot) by software of hyperchem 7.5 under four force field (Amber,Opls,MM+,Bio+).We also ana- lyzed the relativity between the surface internal force and the energy items of the substance.The result showed that the most relative en- ergy item is vdw.Then we established the mathematics model equation for the surface internal force and the energy items of the sub- stance.The mathematics model indicated:the largest value of the correlative coefficient between the surface internal force and the ener- gy items of the substance is obtained under the Bio + force field.The correlation between the calculation and experimental value of sur- face internal force coefficient is 0.8777.All these results not only described the relativity of all these energy items and surface internal force,but also provided us a method of simulating surface internal force.

Abstract:SF6 has strong greenhouse effect, and the research on the environmental friendly alternative SF6 gas has attracted extensive attention. In this paper, alkanes, halogenated hydrocarbons and fluorinated hydrocarbons with special groups were selected as the research objects and a nonlinear regression model for predicting insulation strength was established. The microscopic parameters of each gas molecule were calculated by density functional theory. The calculation functional is B3LYP and the basis are 6-31g/6-31g (d). The results show that the insulation strength of gas molecules increases with the number of carbon atoms in the molecule. When the number of carbon atoms is the same, the insulation strength of gas molecules containing unsaturated bonds is higher. The energy of the lowest unoccupied molecule orbit and vertical electron affinity of gas molecules are important parameters to study the insulation strength of gas, but they have a strong collinearity relationship, so only one of them can be choose in establishing the calculation model of the insulation strength of micro parameters by regression analysis. The insulation strength prediction model describes the sample value characteristics of vertical electron affinity through exponential function, and the correlation coefficient R2 is 0.735, which can preliminarily screen SF6 substitute gases.
