Abstract:In this paper, we obtain the uniform estimate for discounted aggregate claims in the continuous-time renewal model of upper-tailed independent and heavy-tailed random variables. With constant interest force and constant premium rate, we establish a uniform simple asymptotic formula for ruin probability of the renewal model in the case where the initial surplus is large.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider four common types of ruin probabilities for a discrete-time multivariate risk model, where the insurer is assumed to be exposed to a vector of net losses resulting from a number of business lines over each period. By assuming a large initial capital for the risk model and regularly varying distributions for the net losses, we establish some interesting asymptotic estimates for ruin probabilities in terms of the upper tail dependence function of the net loss vector. Our results insightfully characterize how the dependence structure among the individual net losses affect the ruin probabilities in an asymptotic sense, and more importantly, from our main results, explicit asymptotic estimates for those ruin probabilities can be obtained via specifying a copula for the net loss vectors. Abstract:In recent years, the multi-dimensional risk model is a hot topic, and it is more realistic with the Markovian environment, which can be explained as the economic condition. In this paper, we propose the two-dimensional compound binomial model in a Markovian environment. And we obtain the explicit recursive formulae for three types of finite-time survival or ruin probabilities which are of fundamental interests in risk management by the idea for first-step and last-step consideration.

Abstract:This paper considers a two-dimensional discrete time risk model with constant interest rates, and individual net losses in ERV(−α,−β), the class of extended regular variations with indices 0<α≤β<∞. Some asymptotic results for both finite-time and infinite-time ruin probabilities under two types of ruin times are established. The two components of net losses are allowed to be generally dependent.

Abstract:This paper establishes some asymptotic results for both finite and ultimate ruin probabilities in a discrete time risk model with constant interest rates, and individual net losses in R-alpha; the class of regular variation with index alpha > 0. The individual net losses are allowed to be generally dependent while they have zero index of upper tail dependence, so that our results partially generalize the counterparts in Tang (2004). The procedure of deriving our results also demonstrates a new approach of achieving asymptotic formulation for ruin probabilities when the individual risks are dependent.

Abstract:In order to measure the increasing complexity and dependent risk of nonlife insurance products and models, a class of the renewal risk processes with non-stationary and stochastic dependence properties are considered in this paper. By introducing an external continuous-time Markov process, the generalized Erlang(2) risk model can rationally characterize the dependent structure, in which the interclaim time, the claim amount and the premium rate are all regulated by the Markov process. The Gerber-Shiu discounted penalty functions (GS functions) are utilized to deal with the ruin probabilities in this model. The defective renewal equations are derived from taking the Laplace transform of the integro-differential equations that the GS functions satisfy. This Markov-modulated Erlang(2) risk model can effectively measure a type of dependent risk.

Abstract:This article focuses on analyzing the finite-time ruin probability within a specific class of discrete risk models. These models incorporate dependent claims, an interest rate component, and stationary noise terms exhibiting semi-heavy-tailed behavior. In this framework, the claim amount follows a unilateral linear dependent process with independent and identically distributed noise terms, while the discount factor is determined by both the interest rate and time. The finite-time ruin probability has been derived under insurance risk conditions resembling the gamma distribution.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a discrete time risk model with random interest rate. The convergence of the discounted surplus process is proved by using martingale techniques, an expression of ruin probability is obtained, and bounds for ruin probability are included. In the second part of the paper, the distribution of surplus immediately after ruin, the distribution of surplus just before ruin, the joint distribution of the surplus immediately before and after ruin, and the distribution of ruin time are discussed.

Abstract:In ruin theory, the net profit condition intuitively means that the incurred random claims on average do not occur more often than premiums are gained. The breach of the net profit condition causes guaranteed ruin in few but simple cases when both the claims' inter-occurrence time and random claims are degenerate. In this work, we give a simplified argumentation for the unavoidable ruin when the incurred claims on average occur equally as the premiums are gained. We study the discrete-time risk model with $N\in\mathbb{N}$ periodically occurring independent distributions, the classical risk model, also known as the Cramér-Lundberg risk process, and the more general E. Sparre Andersen model.

Abstract:In order to describe the dependent structure in the jump-diffusion risk model in non-life insurance, a Markov-modulated model is considered in this paper. By introducing an external continuous-time Markov process, the classical jump-diffusion risk model is extended to a Markov dependent one, in which the inter-claim time, the claim amount, the premium rate and the volatility of the diffusion process are all regulated by the Markov process. In this case, we obtain a generalized Lundberg's fundamental equation and derive a system of integrodifferential equations of ruin probabilities for Markov-modulated jump-diffusion risk model, which can effectively measure a type of dependent risk.

Abstract:In order to deal with complex risk scenarios involving claims, uncertainty, and investments, we consider the ruin problems in a compound Poisson risk model with liquid reserves and proportional investments and study the expected discounted penalty function under threshold dividend strategies. Firstly, the integral differential equation of the expected discounted penalty function is derived. Secondly, since the closed-form solution of the equation cannot be obtained, a sinc method is used to obtain the numerical approximation solution of the equation. Finally, the feasibility and superiority of the sinc method are illustrated by error analysis. In addition, based on a symmetric jump risk market, we discuss the influence of some parameters on the ruin probability with some examples. This study can help actuaries develop more robust risk management strategies and ensure the long-term stability and profitability of insurance companies. It provides a theoretical basis for actuaries to carry out risk management.

Abstract:We analyse the ruin probabilities for a renewal insurance risk process with inter-arrival time distributions depending on the claims that arrived within a fixed (past) time window. This dependence could be explained through a regenerative structure. The main inspiration of the model comes from the Bonus-Malus feature. We discuss first asymptotic results of ruin probabilities for different regimes of claim distributions. For numerical results, we recognise an embedded Markov additive process. Via an appropriate change of measure, ruin probabilities could be computed to a closed form formulae. Additionally, we present simulated results via the importance sampling method, which further permit an in-depth analysis of a few concrete cases.

Abstract:This paper analyzes a continuous time risk model with a linear model used to model the claim process. The time is discretized stochastically using the times when claims occur, using Doob's stopping time theorem and martingale inequalities to obtain expressions for the ruin probability as well as both exponential and non-exponential upper bounds for the ruin probability for an infinite time horizon. Numerical results are included to illustrate the accuracy of the non-exponential bound.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose a new discrete-time risk model of an insurance portfolio with stochastic premiums, in which the temporal dependence among the premium numbers of consecutive periods is fitted by the first-order integer-valued autoregressive (INAR(1)) process and the temporal dependence among the claim numbers of consecutive periods is described by the integer-valued moving average (INMA(1)) process. To measure the risk of the model quantitatively, we study the explicit expression for a function whose solution is defined as the Lundberg adjustment coefficient and give the Lundberg approximation formula for the infinite-time ruin probability. In the case of heavy-tailed claim sizes, we establish the asymptotic formula for the finite-time ruin probability via the large deviations of the aggregate claims. Two numerical examples are provided in order to illustrate our theoretical findings.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a bidimensional renewal risk model with dependent main claims and delayed claims. Concretely, suppose that an insurance company simultaneously operates two kinds of businesses which separately trigger two types of claims named main claims and delayed claims, respectively, the two lines of businesses share a common claim-arrival counting process, and the random pairs from the two main claims as well as the random pairs from the two delayed claims, independent of each other, follow bivariate Farlie–Gumbel–Morgenstern distributions with different parameters. Assuming that all the claims are subexponential, an asymptotic formula of finite-time ruin probability for such a model is derived as the initial surpluses tend to infinity, which extends some recent ones in the literature.
