Abstract:Shape is a very important attribute of objects,and it plays an important role in image retrieval.Pyramid of histogram of orientation gradients(PHOG) is a powerful expressive description of object shapes.But it has a poor performance in searching images with a nature background.The distribution of image energy field among different frequency domains can be obtained by wavelet decomposition,so the wavelet character can be used in image retrieval.In this paper,a new wavelet pyramid energy distribution character is extracted from images,and is dynamically combined with PHOG character in an image retrieval framework based on SVM classifier.Experiments on a Corel image subset show that our method has a better effect than methods only using PHOG shape description character or wavelet pyramid energy distribution character.
Product Image Retrieval Based on Co-Features of the Object

Abstract:In this paper, we propose a product image retrieval method based on the object contour corners, image texture and color. The product image mainly highlights the object and its background is very simple. According to these characteristics, we represent the object using its contour, and detect the corners of contour to reduce the number of pixels. Every corner is described using its approximate curvature based on distance. In addition, the Block Difference of Inverse Probabilities (BDIP) and Block Variation of Local Correlation (BVLC) texture features and color moment are extracted from image’s HIS color space. Finally, dynamic time warping method is used to match features with different length. In order to demonstrate the effect of the proposed method, we carry out experiments in Microsoft product image database, and compare it with other feature descriptors. The retrieval precision and recall curves show that our method is feasible.

Abstract:A shape retrieval method of 3D models was put forward to realize the reuse of existing design cases and satisfy the need of hierarchy similarity searching of design primitives.On the basis of the B-Rep data structure of 3D models,the discrete points set is obtained through constructing the discrete surfaces of solid models.The elements of the points set are selected at random via seeds which belong to normal distribution.The Euclidean distance sequence is acquainted by calculating the Euclidean distance between arbitrary two points from the selected points.The shape distribution graph(SDG) is then obtained via the quick sorting based on the divide-and-conquer algorithm and the distribution possibility statistics of the Euclidean distance sequence,then the SDG is defined as the shape retrieval index after robustness analysis.The nonlinear mapping of the SDG of 3D models is achieved by means of BP neural network.The shape similarity between solid models is obtained via the comparison between the SDGs,and the retrieval of design primitives is realized.A prototype system was developed to verify the proposed method focusing on the design primitives with different granularities of mechanical parts.The test results proved that the computability and precision of the method are favorable enough for practical requirements.The method has important significance to realize the design reuse and improve the design efficiency.

Abstract:Content-based medical image retrieval(CBMIR) has been one of the most vivid research areas in medical image process.This paper attempts to provide a comprehensive survey of the typical CBMIR systems,including low-level image feature extraction,retrieval objective,and application areas,and also discuss some existing deficiencies such as poor portability,limitations of 2D image retrieval and imperfect retrieval performance evaluation methods.Based on these analysis,a multistage and multi-features medical image retrieval system framework has been designed,which not only combines text-based with content-based retrieval,but also integrates local-based ROI features with global image feature,as well as 2D features with 3D features.It aims to improve the accuracy rate of medical image retrieval effectively and meet the needs of different users.

Abstract:Differing with previous work,a 3D model retrieval based on hybrid shape feature was proposed.Two kinds of features named shape feature based on view and 3D Zernike moment were used for similarity calculation,and syncretized on output layer according to user's feedback.Experiments show retriving accuracy and efficiency have a greater improvement than that on single feature.

Abstract:Content-based image retrieval (CBIR) is one of the most exciting and fastest-growing areas in the field of multimedia technology. In this Letter, we apply the watermarking technique into the retrieval system and propose a novel approach for JEPG image retrieval. The proposed image retrieval system consists of two main phases, offline process and online retrieval process. The feature vector is extracted from each image as the watermark to be embedded into the image, which is the preprocessing operation called offline process. It doesn't require decompressing the JPEG images but directly embedding the watermark in the DCT domain. The online retrieval process consists of three processes, i.e., query feature computation, watermark extraction and feature vector matching. Since the features are embedded in the image data, it is unnecessary to compute the features but only to extract it from the watermarked image. We carry out a series of experiments on a watermarked image database, and the detailed comparison results between the novel approach and the traditional system indicate the advantage of the proposed method.

Abstract:Content-based image retrieval are an image information query retrieval which mainly based on color feature,texture feature,shape feature and so on.This paper firstly describes the image retrieval system architecture,focused on feature extraction technology and spider technology,a Web image retrieval system using combined color and texture features is also given and compared with which using single color feature aiming at concrete database,and discussions are done about the experiment results.The results show that the image retrieval system is effective and the sort is more reasonable.

Abstract:The traditional content-based image retrieval technology can't map underlying image features to semantics, leading to a "semantic gap" between the needs of users and the retrieval results. In this paper, we implement a color image retrieval system based on color emotions. By analyzing the distribution of color emotion histograms of the same theme image, we build a similarity calculation model, and then we use regional growth algorithm and fast particle swarm algorithm to accelerate the computation, and improve the accuracy on relevant feedback. Ultimately we achieve an image classification model based on emotional semantics. The test image data is from 10 classes of Corel standard image database. Experiments show that the color emotion-based image retrieval system in this paper can effectively extract the image emotional features, achieve a preferable retrieval results.

Abstract:Existing attribute-based image retrieval principally relies on pre-labeled attributes,which restricts users to use only the pre-defined attribute to search the intended targets.Extended attribute-based methods turn users from passively choosing pre-defined attributes to actively inputting query words which are pertinent to the pre-labeled attributes.This paper proposes an extended attribute learning method based on Web search amount.It uses Wiktionary to mine extended attributes and combines the results with that of WordNet.After that,it exploits relative average retrieval amount of attributes obtained from Baidu Index and Google Trends to measure user preference,then adopts a consistency measure method to validate the reliability of the extended attributes.Experimental results demonstrate the significant image retrieval performance improvements of the proposed method.

Shape-Based Image Retrieval Using Wavelet and Moment

Abstract:Shape is an important feature of objects in image and shape based image retrieval has obtained more and more attentions in recent research on content based management and utilization of image database system. Although several systems have been developed, two main shortcomings are still existed. The first is that the performance is not stable. The second is that the variance with respect to translation, scaling, and rotation. To cure the above problems, this paper presents a novel shape based image retrieval algorithm. The algorithm first transforms the luminance image with wavelet modulus maximum to get multi scale edge images, then employs a set of seven invariant moments to extract the features of image. Consequently, each image is characterized by a multi scale moment vector in feature space. Similarity is given by the Euclidean distance between two images' normalized moment vectors. Experimental results on clothes image database show that this algorithm can well capture the shape and spatial information of image and it is invariant with respect to translation, scaling and rotation of objects. In addition, the algorithm is also tested with more complicated flower images in a database; the experimental results further verify the effectiveness of the algorithm.

Abstract:How to mine, organize and use the information of the objects in an image, which can just reflect the user's intension precisely, is overlooked for a long time. From the point of view of mining, training and utilizing such information efficiently, this paper focuses on a particular group of features for every class of object. With this group of features, the class of object can be separated with others most distinctly. Based on this idea, using SVM (Support Vector Machine), HGM (Hybrid Gauss Model), PCA (principle component analysis) and FFC (Forward Feature Combination), we design and implement an Object Template that can represent a kind of object (such as tiger) perfectly and then present its two applications. With our Object Template, the Recall Precision (P100) for image retrieval can be increased to 46.175%; the precision of Object Detection also reaches 82.832%. (On 3400 real-world image collections)

Abstract:A feature based image querying and retrieval system is described in this paper. This system is composed of a querying module, a feature extraction and description module, a matching module, an image display module and an image database management module. This system can support not only querying based on single feature such as color, texture, or shape, but also querying based on combination of these features. Such a combination fit well with human perception. A number of querying and retrieval experiments with real images are performed and some results are presented.

Abstract:Efficient content based image retrieval has developed tremendously in many application areas. Content based image retrieval research areas had established many systems, but these systems have deficiency for actually usage:(1) these systems are expected to process different kinds of image retrieval by same method and (2) these systems are designed without considering user requirement. In fact, different kinds of image retrieval need different retrieval mode. So it presents image interactive retrieval based on integrated region similarity match. This system is an image retrieval system with interaction and semantic classification of based on wavelet feature extraction and image integrated region similarity method. Compared with other retrieval methods of based on image content, the method enhances retrieval efficiency by permitting adaptive search and interaction and narrowing search area. Experiment result shows that the system is more precise and efficient than other retrieval systems.

Abstract:By analyzing the character of necktie pattern and integrating image retrieval technology, a new approach to texture content-based image retrieval for necktie pattern is proposed in this paper. On the base of pattern extraction by color separation, Gabor wavelet transformation is used to extract pattern's eigenvector, an improved multiple-angle rotate-invariant similarity definition is presented. Abstract:Flower image retrieval is a very important step for computer-aided plant species recognition. In this paper, we propose an efficient segmentation method based on color clustering and domain knowledge to extract flower regions from flower images. For flower retrieval, we use the color histogram of a flower region to characterize the color features of flower and two shape-based features sets, Centroid-Contour Distance (CCD) and Angle Code Histogram (ACH), to characterize the shape features of a flower contour. Experimental results showed that our flower region extraction method based on color clustering and domain knowledge can produce accurate flower regions. Flower retrieval results on a database of 885 flower images collected from 14 plant species showed that our Region-of-Interest (ROI) based retrieval approach using both color and shape features can perform better than a method based on the global color histogram proposed by Swain and Ballard (1991) and a method based on domain knowledge-driven segmentation and color names proposed by Das et al. (1999).

The framework, processing flow and levels are proposed based oil theory of CBIR and characteristics of RS image. Oriented to the practical demands, five retrieval patterns including template-based, attribute-based, metdata-based, semanteme-based and integrated retrieval are proposed. The contents and features that can be used in Content- Based Remote Sensing Image Retrieval include color, shape, texture, spectra, spatial relation, metadata and relative rules and knowledge. Among those features, spectral features, spatial features and metadata are the main aspects of RS image differing, from common images.

Abstract:In order to get interested images from vast Remote Sensing images, it is necessary to retrieve image based on content by using features in RS image. Based on the introduction and analysis to the framework and processing flow of content-based RS image retrieval, the image contents that can be used in retrieval are discussed in detail. In addition to such features in general image as color, shape and texture, those features characterized by RS image including spectral feature, spatial feature, metadata, rules and knowledge can play more important roles. Spectral features and spectral similarity measurement, spatial relationship and spatial predicate, and metadata are discussed in detail. Finally, an example about a prototype system is given.
