Abstract:As an efficient tool for image compression, wavelet has been widely used in all kinds of image processing areas. Based on the different encoding effects, wavelet compression algorithms can be probably classified into two categories. They are the embedded wavelet coding algorithms and the nonembedded wavelet coding algorithms. For the convenience of producing the anytime cut coding stream and the progressing reconstruction results, the embedded wavelet coding algorithms have been paid more attention in practice. Such as the embedded wavelet coding algorithms, EZW and SPIHT are the outstanding representatives. The only drawback for this wavelet based embedded coding algorithms is the choice of the different wavelet transform base. We propose a novel embedded coding algorithm based on the reconstructed DCT coefficient to avoid the difficulties brought by the choice of wavelet transform base in this paper. The new algorithm's efficiency can be seen from the experimental results.

Abstract:In this paper, we proposed a new object-based coding algorithm by using wavelet transform to instead of the image encoder algorithm by using FGS in MPEG-4. The new object-based coding algorithm combines motion estimation with object-based 3-D wavelet transform for video coding in order to fully utilize the redundancy in the time domain. The shape-adaptive algorithm based on modifying boundary extension method of lifting scheme. A sequence of VOPs are fed into the motion compensated lifting (MCLIFT) wavelet coder which first decomposes the VOPs temporarily through MCLIFT filter, and then decomposes the VOPs spatially by shape adaptive lifting wavelet transform(SA-TWT). We encode the video and represent the stream as multilayer bit stream. The integrated transport-decoder buffer ensure the video be continuously transmitted. Losing package can be recovered by using re-transmission.

Abstract:The discrete wavelet analysis has become the up-to-date technology for signal processing, especially for image compression. The effect to image compression has been testified by all kinds of applications and researches. Discrete wavelet transform (DWT) represents image as a(1) sum of wavelets on the different resolution levels. Basis for wavelet transform can be composed of any function that satisfies the requirements of multiresolution analysis. It is clear that there exits a numerous selection of wavelet families in according to the choice of wavelet function. The choice of wavelet family depends on the applications. This choice in image compression application must depend on image content. In this paper, we will introduce fundamentals of wavelet based image compression. The results of image quality for different wavelet functions, compression ratios, image contents and resolution are given. So we can find comparatively better way to compress image according to the different requirements.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose an image coding approach using wavelet-based adaptive contourlet transform. The approach adopts the wavelet transform to implement subband decomposition to replace Laplace pyramid decomposition in contourlet transform, and thus the redundancy caused by the Laplace pyramid decomposition can be eliminated. Moreover, it chooses the directional filter banks as a key technique, combine SPIHT code, and realizes image compression coding called wavelet-based adaptive contourlet transform. The experiment results show that our approach is comparatively more effective than wavelet, contourlet and wavelet-based contourlet transform in terms of accurately capturing the characteristics of the texture and the edge of the image.

Abstract:Digital signal is a function of time, which is some physical quantities long with time transformation, and the original signal is decomposed into a series of approximate component and details component by wavelet analysis. The wavelet transform is used in digital signal processing for simulation in MATLAB platform, and giving an example analysis. The result shows that the choice of suitable wavelet function makes the least amount of calculation, the high detection performance and the strong function. Abstract:In order to improve the video text recognition performance, this paper provided a new video text enhancement approach. The core of the algorithm relies on using texture fusion in a coarse-to-fine scheme. First, features are extracted using wavelet transform to represent the texture property of text regions. Next, multiple frames with redundancy were decomposed by wavelet transform and the low frequency sub-band was fused by mean operator. After the texture information in high frequency sub-band was extracted, the high frequency sub-band was fused according to the similarity among images with redundancy. Results show that the fusion algorithm can yield much richer texture information and clear images by fusing many frames with redundancy. 1548-7741/Copyright © 2008 Binary Information Press October 2008.

Abstract:For the video application in uncontrollable network, a new algorithm is proposed to track each user's network bandwidth in real time and dynamically control transmission bit rate in fine granularity in order to provide a sustained, clear and fluent experience for video audiences with general optimization in the unstable network. W5/3 lift wavelet algorithm was simplified and the hierarchical multi-reference-frame prediction method was introduced in to MCTF(motion compensated temporal filtering); adopt the transmission layer stream packing method was adopted according to the data priority; the wavelet embedded block coding method was used based on bit-length search. All of these techniques together form the whole wavelet video coding scheme which is suitable for the dynamic bit rate transmission and control in fine granularity. After test and verify, it can reduce the phenomenon which seriously affecting the user experience such as pause, buffering, interrupt when playing and the mosaic or ghosting in the video frames. It can achieve higher user experience.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose apply wavelet analysis and audio compress technology in audio watermarking. Our approach performs a wavelet transformation to determine the local audio properties optimal. Then apply audio compression technology local the watermark embedding location. A chaos sequence being watermark is embedded into the significant coefficients of the audio in detail coefficients. The scheme we proposed is shown to be very robust to a wide range of attacks including most challenging time-scaling and pitch-shifting warping. The results have shown the watermark imperceptible and robust against some signal processing. Extensive experimental results prove that the proposed method robustness to against the data compression, cropping attack and some kinds of synchronization attacks such as MP3, white Gaussian noise, filter and so on.

Abstract:Discrete wavelet transform (DWT) provides an advantageous framework of multiresolution space-frequency representation with promising applications in image processing. The challenge and the opportunity in wavelet compression is the exploitation of the characteristics of the subband coefficients. In the decomposed subbands, the coefficients with the same magnitude generally do not have the same perceptual importance, depending on whether they belong to clustered scene structures. We propose an efficient scene adaptive and signal adaptive quantization scheme capable of exploiting, both the spectral and spatial localization properties resulting from wavelet transform. The proposed quantization is implemented as an MAP estimation based clustering process in which subband coefficients are quantized to their cluster means, subject to the spatial constraints enforced by a Markov-Gibbs random field. Consequently, the available bits are allocated to visually important scene structures so that the information loss is least perceptible by the human viewers. This adaptive quantization represents an effort to develop compression algorithms for low bit rates through the exploitation of both the information theory and the human visual system. It is fundamentally different from the existing scalar and vector quantization schemes in that only the proposed adaptive quantization can differentiate the perceptual importance of the subband coefficients. The concept and the mechanism of the scene structure preservation are applicable and tunable to other image processing tasks. This research also investigates several related topics, including a zerotree-based coding scheme to exploit the dependencies of coefficients across different wavelet scales, a face location and region-based prioritized coding for high perceptual quality videoconferencing, and a generic image enhancement technique for the reduction of coding artifacts at low bit rates. In addition, perspectives of a wavelet-based compression scheme for wireless communications is analyzed. Experimental results in various applications have shown the potential of the proposed scheme for low bit rate image and video coding.

Abstract:A scheme for image compression that takes into account psychovisual features both in the space and frequency domains is proposed. This method involves two steps. First, a wavelet transform used in order to obtain a set of biorthogonal subclasses of images: the original image is decomposed at different scales using a pyramidal algorithm architecture. The decomposition is along the vertical and horizontal directions and maintains constant the number of pixels required to describe the image. Second, according to Shannon's rate distortion theory, the wavelet coefficients are vector quantized using a multiresolution codebook. To encode the wavelet coefficients, a noise shaping bit allocation procedure which assumes that details at high resolution are less visible to the human eye is proposed. In order to allow the receiver to recognize a picture as quickly as possible at minimum cost, a progressive transmission scheme is presented. It is shown that the wavelet transform is particularly well adapted to progressive transmission.
