Abstract:The work includes a general analysis of the global market of mobile games and a comparative analysis of the largest national markets of mobile games. The key indicators of the mobile games market in different countries of the world were chosen as the object of the study. Since the beginning of the 2010s, the market has been growing steadily by 10% every year and has trends for further development. Such a process has many prerequisites: the development of mobile technologies, the improvement of the standard of living of the population, the increase of free time and the popularization of interactive entertainment. The work offers a brief description of the formation of the mobile game market and its advantages among competitors, a full description of the global mobile game market and its segregation into the largest centers and promising markets. The characteristics of the largest world markets: China, the USA, Japan, South Korea, the reasons for their success and current statistics are given. The most promising world regions are singled out: Europe, Africa and South America, and the main challenges for each of them are given. The findings provide numerical figures for developed and developing regions and the reasons why this difference exists. The graphs of the number of mobile game applications in the App Store, the number of players by region of the world, the dynamics of the market volume and the forecast for China and the USA were constructed and analyzed. Comparative tables and separated data for each of the considered regions were built. The results of the study showed that the main global markets have a common trend of growth in both the number of players and the revenue per player. In addition, the main challenge of the future can be considered approaching the maximum number of players and the limitation of their free time. Another important trend is the constant rapid development of technologies, which makes mobile games a real competitor for computer and console counterparts. The results of the research can be used to make decisions for mobile companies about entering new markets, as well as to analyze the key development trends for the coming years for the entertainment industry as a whole.

Abstract:This chapter documents a broad range of characteristics pertaining to the nature of Chinese mobile games. The discussion commences with an overview of the general mobile games market in China, including highlighting subtle differences in how games are classified and a brief analysis of the current leading titles within each key genre. The chapter then moves onto a consideration of how mobile games are distributed and accessed in China, followed by how particular social and cultural elements may determine certain features in the composition of Chinese mobile games. Focus is placed on explaining the reasons for playing particular games, the choice of games, and how games are played by the Chinese audience. This is supported by two distinct case studies of highly successful titles to illustrate the various features and characteristics of Chinese games and audiences.

Abstract:Mihoyo's open world mobile game Genshin Impact, launched in September 2020, set the record for the highest grossing mobile game worldwide for the month with $245 million, and was the highest grossing mobile game in China for six consecutive months. Behind this impressive performance, there have also been negative voices about inducing overspending in games. For a game aimed at teenagers, it sets very high purchase prices for virtual goods and lotteries and lacks guidance and efforts to protect teenagers. Teenagers are one of the biggest consumers of online games. With the rapid development and popularity of mobile Internet and smart devices in China, it is more convenient for Chinese teenagers to access online games, and the era of touch games shows a younger trend. This paper uses two practical cases to focus on the impact of the highly developed mobile game consumer market on consumers and enterprises. It analyzes and discusses from two perspectives, involving the analysis of marketing concepts, schemes, consumer psychology and other elements. In the end, it deduces the social and moral issues that enterprises need to pay attention to in their own operations and improves a cleaner consumer market together with consumer groups.

Abstract:In recent years, smart mobile terminals have rapidly occupied the world market and promoted the development of the Internet industry. China has 1.19 billion mobile Internet users, ranking first in the world. As a product of the mobile Internet, mobile games have gradually become one of the main entertainment items for netizens because of their portability and mobility. As the main force among mobile Internet users, teenagers have contributed a lot of consumer behaviors in mobile games. If a mobile game wants to occupy a certain position in the highly competitive market, it is vital to formulate an appropriate market strategy for teenagers. Through literature analysis and qualitative analysis, this paper summarizes the concept, types, characteristics, market status, and existing problems of mobile games in the Chinese market. It analyzes the characteristics of young people’s consumption behaviors in mobile games, mainly including “self-identity” and herd effect. This paper also puts forward some improvement plans for game design, game marketing, and game community to promote young users’ consumption behaviors in mobile games. At the same time, due to the particularity of underage users, this paper also discusses the necessity of reasonably setting up an anti-addiction system. This paper has strategic marketing significance for mobile game companies whose main target customers are young people. At the same time, based on the huge customer group of the youth in the mobile media market, this article is also very important to promote the steady development of the mobile game market.

Abstract:This paper will focus on two important areas in the electronic game industry, namely, "mobile games", which are mainly operated and played on portable mobile devices and "client games", which are mainly operated on non-portable mobile devices such as computers, game consoles and televisions. The market in the Chinese mainland is selected as the research object. First, it explains the background of the development of these two different types of games in the Chinese mainland market and the trend in recent years. Clarify the basic content and specific differences between mobile games and client games in terms of definitions. Second, it discusses in detail the reasons for the asymmetric development of mobile and client games in the Chinese market. It uses the representative work of China's mobile games "Genshin Impact" and the part of 3A games in client games for case study, and makes a comparative analysis using classic sociological theories such as "localization", "globalization", and "McDonaldization". The paper discusses the internal reasons for the uneven development of these two different game media in the Chinese mainland market and the possible consequences of the assembly line of the game industry. Finally, the paper gives solutions to the market layout of mobile and client games in the Chinese mainland from the perspective of complete system and legal construction of the government, the improvement of the marketing mode of game developers and the enhancement of users' ability to explore the game market independently.

Abstract:The global mobile gaming market has grown rapidly in recent years, bringing in huge profits while maintaining its growth potential. The current state of the market has attracted many large game companies to enter, while many small and medium-sized game companies are also developing new games to attract customers. In this study, the author chooses miHoYo as the research object to first analyze the current market situation and trend that miHoYo is facing based on data reports and literature, and then use the 4Ps theory to analyze miHoYos marketing strategy. In the face of the increasingly competitive but highly promising mobile game market, miHoYo mainly adopts the strategy of releasing innovative products while continuously developing new market segments; its pricing, promotion, and publicity strategies focus on game products, co-branding with other brands and platform publicity. Lastly, based on the high pressure of market competition, unsatisfactory community discussion environment and information leakage problems that miHoYo is currently facing, suggestions are provided for miHoYos future development.

Abstract:This study aims to investigate the factors influencing the marketing of mobile online games from the perspective of consumer behavior and provide practical marketing strategies for companies whose main business is mobile online games. By reviewing relevant literature on the development of consumer behavior theory and analyzing consumer behavior, this study identifies the factors that affect marketing strategies for mobile online games. The research findings suggest that successful mobile online game marketing requires a comprehensive consideration of consumer demands, competitor analysis, and brand positioning, as well as the implementation of targeted strategies. By integrating brand strategies, pricing strategies, channel strategies, and marketing strategies, mobile online games can be effectively promoted and attract more users. These strategies not only provide valuable references and insights for mobile online game companies to gain a competitive advantage in highly competitive market environments but also open up new perspectives and directions for future research in related fields.

Abstract:In recent years, there has been an upsurge in the number of mini-games on mobile commerce platforms. The emerging gamification phenomenon of e-commerce still requires theory and investigation in order to supplement its explanation. This study aims to explore the intention of users to play games on mobile commerce platforms, as well as the influence of gamification mechanisms on users' purchase intentions on these platforms. From the perspective of perceived value theory, data from 1586 mobile commerce shoppers in China were collected and analyzed using a structural equation model. The results of the study found that utilitarian value, hedonic value, and social value are positively correlated with game use intention, while spending less time/energy also positively affects game use intention. These games are more attractive to women. The usage rate of games and the average monthly spending amount on a mobile commerce platform are both positively correlated with users’ purchase intentions on the platform.

Abstract:This study critically assesses the Chinese online games industry through problematizing the creativity of Chinese games. I find that between 1995 and 2001, Chinese online games were mostly developed by amateurs, noncommercial, and considerably creative. Between 2002 and 2005, industrial growth allowed some room for local creativity despite commercialization and dominance of imported games. Current scholarly, business, and media discourses unfairly ignore creativity in these first two periods and yet praise the Chinese game industry’s commercial success since the late 2000s. I challenge these discourses by illustrating that between 2006 and early 2009, a new, ethically dubious, and uniquely Chinese business model emerged, became domestically dominant, and quietly and profoundly impacted on global online game design. From mid-2009 to 2015, there is ongoing corporatization based on the dubious Chinese business model on the one hand, and a reemphasis on creativity motivated by browser and mobile game formats on the other.

Abstract:Since 2008, revenues from the web and mobile games have grown rapidly due to the development of internet technology and the popularity of smart mobile devices. Many games are no longer tied to a specific place or time, which has led to an increase in the number of users. In the gaming industry as a whole, mobile gaming has gradually become the mainstream of the modern gaming industry. However, the game industry is particularly mature at this stage, and a new phase of change may be coming. And in the development of a game company, business risk is one of the main factors of concern for investors. Indeed, the investment risk of a gaming company determines whether it is sufficient to ensure the future development of the entire company. In this paper, three companies, namely 37Interactive Entertainment Network Technology Group, Perfect World, and Zhejiang Century Huatong Group were chosen to compare the operational risk of a game company and the current state of the company. In this comparison, WACC is used to measure the average required return. In addition, the three companies' cost of equity is examined using both operational and financial leverage. These are employed in the analysis of the three organizations' operational and financial risks. Assumptions and interpretations are also made based on specific industry characteristics and operating rules. Overall, due to the growth of the Internet, this epidemic has raised expectations of the gambling industry in a short period, so factors such as company size and type of stock have become less important. The rapid growth of the gaming industry as a whole during this period has raised some questions about the growth prospects and operational risks of these three companies.

Abstract:In the context of exploring the creative transformation and innovative development of Chinese culture, this paper focuses on how Chinese-style games can help the international dissemination of the "culture +" strategy. Through an in-depth analysis of the current status of Chinese online games going overseas, this paper reveals the competitiveness and cultural influence of domestic games in the global market. This paper specifically analyzes the market size and growth trend of Chinese online games, and elaborates on the distribution of games in overseas markets. Taking "Black Myth: Wukong" as an example, it demonstrates the successful experience of Chinese-style games in cross-cultural communication. This paper proposes strategies and suggestions for Chinese online games going overseas, including clarifying the target market, localizing adjustments, choosing appropriate distribution channels, and formulating effective marketing strategies. In addition, this paper emphasizes the important role of Chinese-style games in inheriting and innovating Chinese culture and promoting the "going out" of culture, and looks forward to the future development trend of Chinese online games going overseas.

Abstract:China is the most promising game market in the world. However, with the development of the game industry, the Chinese market is facing a severe problem - the problem of addiction to games among the youth group. The issue of youth game addiction has become a problem that cannot be ignored in society. How game operators should actively respond to the national policy and simultaneously cope with the social resistance to games is the first problem that needs to be solved. Based on the above background, this study selects a typical case in China’s game market-Wang’s Glory-for multi-dimensional analysis. This study argues that introducing the youth mode has greatly standardized minors’ play modes and habits. With the launch of the youth model, indirect problems such as buying and selling accounts and the influx of many target customers into the overseas game market have arisen.

Abstract:As a case study, this article examines the development of China’s online game industry and how China responds to the forces of globalization. Based on in-depth interviews, ethnographic research, and the analysis of archive documents from the past few years, this study identifies China’s evolving strategy of neo-techno-nationalism. In the Chinese context, this national strategy manipulates technology to create a version of popular nationalism that is both acceptable to and easily censored by the authorities. Therefore, cultural industries that adopt this strategy stand a good chance of prevailing in the Chinese market. This success explains why the regional competitors of Chinese online games—Korean games—are more successful in China than most of their Western counterparts. By providing a snapshot of the current ecology of China’s online game industry, this article also discusses the influence of regional and global forces in a concrete context and argues that the development of China’s online game industry depends more on political factors than economic factors.

Abstract:This paper focuses on the Chinese news coverage on Chinese gaming and identifies four phases of such journalism. All the 1718 news articles on games in People’s Daily from 1981 to 2017 are explored from the theoretical perspective of CDA. The paper tries to answer how Chinese mainstream news media construct the image of games and gamers by tracing the change of the number, keywords and attitudes of all reports; analyzing the six frames in the discourse practice of the reports; and discussing the interactions between the reports and the social cultural practices in different time periods.

Abstract:Due to the popularity and advancement of 4G/5G networks, mobile games have already currently become profitable tools for major internet platforms. These games are even refined to cover almost all age groups of the population rather than the young people. Yet in the perception of the public, mobile games have always seemed to be associated with various derogatory terms such as interfering with learning, addiction, and violence. K12 students usually have less self-control capability, and they are undoubtedly the biggest advocates of mobile games. This paper summarizes the technological development of mobile games from the aspects of hardware and software in chronological order. The psychological and social problems that mobile games have brought to K12 students are analyzed from a neutral perspective. At the end of the paper, the future development of educational games and current limitations of mobile games are also given for the explorations of future trends of game-based education. This position paper aims to provide the insight of what psychosocial impacts that the current mobile games have on the student, and it may also serve as a reference for the how the game-based education has been developing according to the mobile technology wise.
