Abstract:In this paper,using new auxiliary equations,a diversity of exact periodic wave solutions in terms of the Jacobi elliptic functions are obtained for two forms of nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation. Moreover,limit cases are studied,and solitary wave solutions are got.This method can be used to find new exact solutions to other nonlinear evolution equations.

Abstract:In this paper the Jacobi elliptic function expansion method is extended to the finite expansion for the applied Jacobi cosine elliptic function or the third kind of Jacobi elliptic function to construct the new periodic solutions of nonlinear wave equations. The periodic solutions obtained by this method can be reduced to the solitary wave solutions under the limit condition.

Abstract:In this paper, we obtain many different types of exact solutions to the time-fractional Klein-Gordon equation and the time-fractional generalized Hirota-Satsuma coupled KdV system by using the modified rational function approach. Some new solutions such as the kink-periodic solution, the anti-kink-periodic solution and the concaveconvex-periodic solution are constructed. Furthermore, the kink and the singular kink waves, the soliton and the singular soliton solutions of the two equations also are found. Some numerical simulations are presented, these works can effectively reflect the propagation phenomena of time-fractional nonlinear systems, and also enable us to understand time-fractional nonlinear physical phenomena more clearly.

Abstract:The Klein–-Gordon equation plays an important role in mathematical physics, such as plasma and, condensed matter physics. Exploring its exact solution helps us understand its complex nonlinear wave phenomena. In this paper, we first propose a new extended Jacobian elliptic function expansion method for constructing rich exact periodic wave solutions of the (2+1)-dimensional Klein–-Gordon equation. Then, we introduce a novel wave transformation for constructing nonlinear complex waves. To demonstrate the effectiveness of this method, we numerically simulated several sets of complex wave structures, which indicate new types of complex wave phenomena. The results show that this method is simple and effective for constructing rich exact solutions and complex nonlinear wave phenomena to nonlinear equations.

Abstract:With the help of the homogeneous balance method, the Jacobi elliptic expansion method and the auxiliary equation method, the first elliptic function equation is used to obtain the Jacobi doubly periodic wave solutions of the (2+1)-dimensional B-type Kadomtsev–Petviashvili (BKP) equation and the generalized Klein–Gordon equation. The method is also valid for other (1+1)-dimensional and higher dimensional systems.

Abstract:In this paper, with the help of Mathematica, three travelling wave solutions for a class of nonlinear evolution equations u(tt) + au(xx) + bu + cu(3) = 0 are obtained by trigonometric function method and Wu-eliminition method which include new trarelling wave solutions, bell soliton solutions and kink soliton solutions. Some equations such as Duffing equation, Klein-Gordon equation, Landau-Ginburg-Higgs equation and phi(4) equation are particular cases of the evolution equations. The method also can be applied to other nonlinear equations.

Abstract:The Jacobi elliptic function expansion (JEFE) method is applied to construct the exact periodic solutions to two kinds of nonlinear wave equations, such as BBM equation, fifth-order dispersive equation, Kawahara equation, modified Kawahara equation, second-order BO equation and symmetrical-regular long wave equation. The corresponding shock wave solutions or solitary wave solutions are obtained as special cases of the periodic solutions. It is shown that this method is very powerful for some nonlinear wave equations, and its applying domain is given.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with a one dimensional (1D) derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation with periodic boundary conditions \begin{equation*} \mi u_t+u_{xx}+\mi |u|^2u_x=0, \ \ x\in \mathbb{T}:=\mathbb{R}/2\pi\mathbb{Z}. \end{equation*} We show that above equation admits a family of real analytic quasi-periodic solutions with two Diophantine frequencies. The proof is based on a partial Birkhoff normal form and KAM method.

Abstract:By using the modified mapping method, we find so me new exact solutions of the nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation, mKdV equation and the generalized Boussinesq equation. Abstract:We prove the existence of periodic travelling wave solutions for general discrete nonlinear Klein-Gordon systems, considering both cases of hard and soft on-site potentials. In the case of hard on-site potentials we implement a fixed point theory approach, combining Schauder's fixed point theorem and the contraction mapping principle. This approach enables us to identify a ring in the energy space for non-trivial solutions to exist, energy (norm) thresholds for their existence and upper bounds on their velocity. In the case of soft on-site potentials, the proof of existence of periodic travelling wave solutions is facilitated by a variational approach based on the Mountain Pass Theorem. Thresholds on the averaged kinetic energy for these solutions to exist are also derived.

Abstract:Application of the shallow water waves in environmental engineering and hydraulic engineering is seen. In this paper, a (3+1)-dimensional generalized nonlinear evolution equation (gNLEE) for the shallow water waves is investigated. The Nth-order Wronskian, Gramian and Pfaffian solutions are proved, where N is a positive integer. Soliton solutions are constructed from the Nth-order Wronskian, Gramian and Pfaffian solutions. Moreover, we analyze the second-order solitons with the influence of the coefficients in the equation and illustrate them with graphs. Through the Hirota-Riemann method, one-periodic-wave solutions are derived. Relationship between the one-periodic-wave solutions and one-soliton solutions is investigated, which shows that the one-periodic-wave solutions can approach to the one-soliton solutions under certain conditions. We reduce the (3+1)-dimensional gNLEE to a two-dimensional planar dynamic system. Based on the qualitative analysis, we give the phase portraits of the dynamic system.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a class of wave equations with linear couplings. Such model arises when two waves propagate simultaneously. Based on variational methods and Galerkin approximation argument, we obtain some multiplicity results of periodic solutions for the problem when the linear coupling coefficient is small enough and the nonlinearities satisfy superlinear growth.

Abstract:The Klein–Gordon equation with nonlinear potential features in a large number of applications, yet its computation represents a major challenge. The main theme of this paper is the construction of symmetric and arbitrarily highorder time-stepping numerical methods for the nonlinear Klein–Gordon equation and the analysis of their stability and convergence. To this end, subject to periodic boundary conditions, we construct an abstract ordinary differential equation in a suitable function space. Subsequently, we introduce an operatorvariation-of-constants formula to derive a symmetric and arbitrarily high-order time-integration formula for the nonlinear abstract ODE. Stability and convergence are proved once the spatial differential operator is approximated by an appropriate positive semi-definite matrix, subject to sufficient temporal and spatial smoothness. Numerical results demonstrate the advantage and efficiency of our new methods in comparison with the existing numerical approaches.

Abstract:We prove the existence of periodic solutions in a class of nonlinear partial differential equations, including the nonlinear Schrödinger equation, the nonlinear wave equation, and the nonlinear beam equation, in higher dimension. Our result covers cases of completely resonant equations, where the bifurcation equation is infinite-dimensional, such as the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with zero mass, for which solutions which at leading order are wave packets are shown to exist.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the periodic solutions for a coupled system of wave equations with x -dependent coefficients. Such a model arises naturally when two waves propagate simultaneously in the nonisotrpic media. In this paper, for the periods having the form T = 2 a − 1 b ( a , b are positive integers ) and some types of boundary conditions, we obtain the existence of the time periodic solutions and analyze the asymptotic behaviors as the coupled parameter goes to zero, when the nonlinearities are superlinear and monotone, by using the variational method. In particular, the condition ess inf η ρ ( x ) > 0 is not required.

Qualitative Theory of Dynamical Systems

Abstract:A hierarchy of nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger equations is derived by using the Lenard gradients and the zero-curvature equation. According to the Lax matrix of the nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger equations, we introduce a hyperelliptic Riemann surface of genus n , from which Dubrovin-type equations, meromorphic function, and Baker–Akhiezer function are established. By the theory of algebraic curves, the corresponding flows are straightened by resorting to the Abel–Jacobi coordinates. Finally, we obtain the explicit Riemann theta function representations of the Baker–Akhiezer function, specifically, that of solutions for the hierarchy of nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger equations in regard to the asymptotic properties of the Baker–Akhiezer function.
