Abstract:The finite element analysis is applied to the frame of a 8 t truck based on ANSYS.The geometrical model and the finite element analysis model with the solid92 element are built.Based on the models,the stress and deformation of the frame are calculated.It may be applied for the improvement of the frame.

Abstract:Frame is an important truck part to connect and support engine, transmission, carriage and cab etc. It is important to analyze strength, stiffness and dynamic characteristics for frame design. This paper developed static analysis of a specific agricultural truck frame under two conditions of full load bending and reverse. The corresponding suggestions of structural modification were proposed. Then the dynamic response of truck frame caused by the external incentives was studied, namely harmonic response analysis and transient dynamic analysis. The paper not only analyzed whether the truck frame met the strength requirements, but also proposed the corresponding solutions for the possible cases of fatigue fracture and stress overloaded of the frame.

Abstract:In order to obtain accurate spatial stresses of box girder with a small number of elements, an analytical method for large-section PC box girders is proposed. A higher order displacement function in the axial direction is introduced, and the section composition is considered. Taking the Hangzhou Bay Bridge as an example, both 3-D solid FEM and the proposed method are compared. The results indicate that high accuracy can be achieved with a small number of elements by using the proposed method.

Abstract:Finite-element simulations were used to investigate the structural demands generated by a truck colliding with a bridge pier. A reduced coupled mass-spring-damper model is proposed to simulate the collision process. The model is calibrated to the simulation data and accounts for key variables, such as truck weight, impact speed, and pier characteristics. Through comparisons to detailed finite-element analysis, the reduced model is shown to be able to reasonably represent the behavior of a set of coupled vehicle-bridge systems. On the basis of the simulation results, an argument is made that a standard design truck can be specified for impact design. (C) 2016 American Society of Civil Engineers.

Abstract:With ANSYS finite element analysis software, finite element method was used to analyze the flexible Ferris wheel in this paper. By obtaining stress and deformation of the structure strength and stiffness was calculated and assessed. Improvements were made on this basis to meet the design requirements. With stability and dynamic analysis structure has good global stability and the frequency spectrum of structure is dense and even distribution. The analysis procedure and results indicated in this paper can be used as a reference for the analysis and design of similar projects.

Abstract:A numerical model based on the finite element method for the material and geometrical nonlinear analysis of prestressed concrete plane frame structures with arbitrary section is developed, which is capable of simulating the entire-range nonlinear response of those structures such as prestressed concrete large-span beams, slender columns under uniaxial bending, and so on. An excellent sectional model suggested by Rodriguez and Aristizabal is revised and utilized to determine the sectional tangent stiffness. The section is divided into several trapezoids according to sectional vertices. Sectional forces, i.e. axial force and bending moment, contributed by the concrete are obtained through integrating trapezoids one by one. On this basis, the standard finite element formulae are derived using the traditional nonlinear plane frame element. The element tangent stiffness matrix derived in this paper consists of three different sub-matrices accounting for material nonlinearity, material and geometrical nonlinearities, and secondary moments caused by axial force associating with structural deformation, respectively. Two numerical examples are given to verify the reliability and validity of the proposed model.

Abstract:On the basis of analyzing the typical operating conditions of a simplified vehicle model,3D Model of the rear axle housing was built by using a 3D design software UGnx2.0,and calculated its structure with the method of finite element analysis.In the effect of alternating stress,the rear axle housing was found existing crack defects.The reason of defects existing is analyzed.The improvement measures are put forward.It is calculated to prove that the measures are feasible and effective,which can provide reference for the design of that rear axle housing.

Abstract:Existing frame stiffness analysis methods lack accuracy. Therefore, a finite element model-based stiffness analysis method for automobile aluminium alloy frames is proposed. The finite element model considers only the main structural components and simplifies their structures to improve calculation efficiency while meeting accuracy requirements. Various parts and components are modelled and assembled into the complete frame model, including the suspension system in the analysis. The model grid is divided, and additional mass and assembly mass are simplified as concentrated loads applied to supporting points, while the frame's own mass is simplified as uniformly distributed loads applied to nodes and elements. Bending stiffness and torsional stiffness are analysed to determine the stiffness characteristics of the aluminium alloy frame. Test results demonstrate that this design method enables accurate bending and torsional stiffness analysis of the aluminium alloy frame, with minimal errors, as low as 2e+0.01 Nm 2 and 22 N·m/°.

Abstract:In recent years the heavy-duty Class 8 truck market has become very focused on weight and cost reduction. This represents a major challenge for design engineers since these vehicles are used in a wide variety of vocations from highway linehaul to logging in severe off-road environments. The challenge is to meet the weight and cost reduction goals without sacrificing durability and performance. This paper discusses the integration of computer aided design and engineering software codes (Pro/Engineer, ADAMS, and ANSYS) to simulate the effect of design changes to the truck frame. In particular, this paper discuses the development of an ADAMS multi-body dynamics model of a full truck and trailer to simulate vehicle handling, roll stability, ride performance, and durability loading. The model includes a flexible frame modelled using a component mode synthesis approach with modes imported from a finite element analysis program. The link between the multi-body simulation and the finite element code is also used to transfer loads back to the finite element model for stress analysis. Tight links between all the codes ensures that new design iterations can be quickly evaluated for concurrent design and analysis. A detailed case study showing how this technology has been used is also included.

Abstract:Abstract Trucks are an important branch of the automotive field, and their market demand has been and will maintain a stable level for a long time. In this paper, a truck with a load capacity of 6t is selected as the research object. The frame of the truck is a side beam frame, which is riveted by two longitudinal beams and eight cross beams. The solid model of the truck frame is established by three-dimensional modeling software, and then the finite element software is used for static analysis of the frame, and the maximum deformation, the position of the maximum deformation, and the maximum Stress, maximum stress point. The analysis results show that the structural strength of the frame is far greater than the load-bearing strength, which meets the requirements of use, and there is a large space for lightening the structural materials. The structural optimization design of the frame is carried out, and the weight of the optimized frame is reduced by 8.4% under the premise of ensuring the strength requirements. The maximum stress under the full-load bending condition is reduced from 207.3MPa to 177.86MPa, achieving the lightweight goal.
Finite Element Analysis On The Seismic Behavior Of High Strength Steel Frames

Abstract:In order to investigate the seismic behavior of high strength steel frames and provide references for the seismic design of this kind of frames, nonlinear finite element analysis of high strength steel frames is carried out with the finite element software ANSYS, in which both the geometric and material nonlinearities are considered. The mechanical behavior and failure mechanism of high strength steel frames under the vertical constant loading and horizontal cyclic loading are investigated, and the energy dissipation capacity and ductility of such frames have been analyzed. Based on the finited element calculation results, it showed that the bearing capacity of high strength steel frames under the vertical constant loading and horizontal cyclic loading increased, which also had considerable energy dissipation capacity and seismic performance, but lower ductility. These research works can provide the basis for the further study and engineering application of high strength steel frames.

Abstract:By making use of dynamic and optimization analysis function of ANSYS, a dynamic analysis method and optimization model of the platform frame construction are advised under the dynamic load.Two three layer frames are used to check the method and model.The dynamic analysis is firstly done.Taking the maximum acceleration of structure as objective function, the constraints including strength constraint and size constraint, the optimization for the geometrical dimension of the structural system has done.The results of example show the model and method are feasible and reliable, and are well suitable for use in actual optimization design.

Abstract:There are no related domestic products of casting steel steering frame of forklifts currently and producers all adopted traditional welded type steering frame. Cast steering frames feature better economy and easy to mass-produce. On the basis of original welded type steering frame of forklifts, a new cast steel steering frame was developed. Mechanical model is set up. Comparative analysis and calculation of strength and rigidity are conducted between cast steel design model and original welded steering frame with finite element analysis software ANSYS10.0. The results show the cast steering frame of forklifts meets requirements. Although the two kinds of steering frame present almost the same weights, the cast steel frame is low in production cost and suitable to mass production provided attention be paid to the cast defects.

Abstract:A comparative study was conducted to determine the structural hot‐spot stress at the weld toe of the welded joint in the orthotropic steel bridge deck by use of different methods .The finite element models of the welded joint were established by the finite element software ANSYS with the solid element and the shell element ,respectively .Seven types of the mesh size were divided adjacent to the weld toe zone .The structural hot‐spot stress at the weld toe of the welded joint in the orthotropic steel bridge deck was calculated using the direct extraction method ,the surface extrapolation method ,and the structural stress method .The results obtained from different methods were compared in respect of the accuracy and the sensitivity with the mesh size and the element type . The achieved results reveal that when the finite element models are constructed by use of different mesh sizes and element types ,the structural hot‐spot stress calculated by the direct extraction method and the surface extrapolation method has significant discreteness ,while the structural hot‐spot stress derived from the structural stress method has good consistency .

Abstract:The frame of 4MPa vertical type high-pressure grouting machine is used as the research object. The finite element analysis software ANSYS is applied to the modal finite element analysis of the frame. The first five order natural frequencies and the corresponding vibration modes of the frame are obtained, and then the influence of every mode shape on the performances of the frame was discussed. It provides a reference for the dynamic structural design and optimization of the frame of vertical type high-pressure grouting machine.

Abstract:To verify the reliability of the 3-ton diesel forklift frame developed by a high-tech enterprise and to further improve its comprehensive performance, static and dynamic characteristics of the frame were analyzed by finite element method. The situation of forced frame under the critical condition was calculated. The preceding six-order natural frequencies and shapes were obtained by modal analysis. The harmonic response of the frame was analyzed based on the results of modal analysis. Finally, the high damping M2052 alloy gasket was used to optimize the vibration performance of the frame. Results show that the maximum stress of the frame was 141.75 MPa under the critical condition, which was lower than the allowable stress of the frame material. Therefore, the frame has high safety performance. The front-end plate of the frame has a large amplitude near the first order natural frequency. The frame amplitude peak decreased up to 20% by using the high damping M2052 alloy gasket, and its vibration performance is improved obviously.

Abstract:In this paper,by applying the concrete damage plasticity model,the non-linear finite element analysis of the performance of reinforced concrete(RC) frame nodes is conducted based on the finite element analysis software ABAQUS.Separate modeling is made by using solid elements for concrete modeling and truss elements for steel modeling,and the coupling of degree of freedom is also made based on Embed technology.The comparison between test results and finite element analysis shows that under vertical monotonic loading,the load-displacement curve of the free end of beam column agrees well with the test results,and the analytical deformation modes are consistent with the failure modes of specimen.By the parametric analysis,the impact of concrete expansion angle,viscosity coefficient and damage factor on the analytical results is investigated,providing an experimental and theoretical basis for node design in the actual project.

Abstract:Abstract This paper proposes to combine multi-body dynamics and finite element method to study the fatigue strength and fatigue life of the bogie frame from the perspective of taking the vehicle as a whole. The analysis model established by the multi-body dynamics simulation software SIMPACK, the dangerous positions are determined from FEA software ANSYS, Based on the load-time history and Miner cumulative damage theory, the fatigue strength prediction is carried out using n-soft software, the study shows that the time-load history of each key position obtained by simulating working conditions can predict the life of components more accurately, this method can be applied to the initial stage of product design.
