Abstract:Since the traditional SUSAN corner detection algorithm can not distinguish inner corners and to solve the edge corners of chessboard,and to solve the problem of corner separation caused by excessive exposure,the improved SUSAN corner detection algorithm is proposed.The improved algorithm can obtain the difference of 3 pixels gray sum between two groups of nonadjacent characteristic directions,combining the threshold and difference threshold to extract the corner set. Moreover,using the symmetric distribution of the corner set to determine the centroid coordinates of the corner set as the coordinates of the corner of the position,and the coordinate values can be directly sub-pixel accuracy.Experiments show that the proposed algorithm can extract corners effectively and quickly,and the reprojection error is within 0.3 pixels.The extraction results can be used for camera calibration.

Abstract:An improved algorithm based on Harris Corner Detection is presented. It has good noise resistive and can extract feature point on edge precisely and reduce the effect of noise and isolated pixels. To improve the Harris corner detection performance, several methods are involved. Instead of the Gaussian function, a B-spline smooth function is used. It can preserve more corner information and prevent corner position offsetting. To get more robust results, a modified corner response is also employed. In the corner matching process, the gradient information within a 5x5 window is used to perform a more robust matching. By an improved image matching algorithm, it can match the feature point precisely and reduce the incorrect matches. After that the images are aligned, the image of the overlapping band is smoothed with fusion algorithm to obtain a seamless mosaic image.

Abstract:Gradient ghost imaging (GGI) is a new imaging method that can directly extract the edge of a target from the correlation of light intensity fluctuations. However, there are problems of poor image quality and practicability in GGI. The corner point is an important target feature and has important applications in the fields of image processing and machine vision. In this paper, we propose a corner detection scheme that combines a corner detection algorithm based on curvature scale space with a GGI system, which can directly extract corner points from the reconstruction results of ghost imaging. A simulation and experimental results show that our method can acquire precise and robust corner information of an unknown target in undersampled cases, which promotes the practical development of ghost imaging.

Abstract:This paper first presents a thorough survey on recent corner detection algorithm. It makes a deeply research on the principle of SUSAN and MIC algorithm, and analyses their performance respectively. It suggests a fast and robust corner detector based on pixel intensity change. The new algorithm, and other popular corner detectors, are evaluated and compared on the basis of their performance using simulative image and real image. It finds that the algorithm performs better than other algorithms on consistency, accuracy and speed.

Abstract:Corner detection is a common method to obtain image features, and the detection effect influences the performance of matching and tracking directly. A FAST-Harris fusion corner detection algorithm is proposed to improve the shortcomings of the Harris algorithm, such as the low detection accuracy and low positioning accuracy, and a corner detection fusion model is established. First, the detected target image is padded, and then the FAST algorithm is used with a 25% reduced contrast points to achieve fast capture roughly; in this way, a candidate corner set is obtained. Then, screening the candidate corner is set one by one by calculating the response function of the Harris with Scharr operator to achieve capture accurately. Finally, the real corners are obtained using SAD for nonmaximum suppression. The positioning error, error detection rate, robustness, and running time of corner detection are obtained by the PyCharm platform. Compared with Harris, the error detection rate and localization error of the algorithm are reduced by 16.89% and 42.04%, respectively. Compared with 8 popular corner detection algorithms, the error detection rate and localization error of the algorithm in this paper are the lowest, which are 24.60% and 1.42 pixels. The robust performance in lossy JPEG compression is the best, with 17.37% shorter running time than Harris algorithm. The method in this paper can be used in scenarios such as autonomous driving and image search services.

Abstract:We propose an adaptive corner detector based on the degree of sharpness of the contour, which can detect the corners efficiently and accurately. First, we extract edges from an image using an edge detector, such as Canny, Sobel, etc. Second, we define a degree-of-sharpness variable and calculate its value for each point on the edge. Then we use an adaptive threshold of the degree of sharpness to find the initial corner candidates for each edge. Third, we propose a method of making a projection for an edge segment toward the edge's fitting line to remove salient points. Finally, if some neighboring corner candidates are detected in a support area, we offer an effective method to merge them into one point, and the final corners are reserved. The proposed detector is compared to a classical corner detector and two state-of-the-art methods on planar curves and gray-level images, respectively. The experimental results show that the proposed detector has high correctness in finding true corners. Abstract:This paper introduces an operator for the detection of the true location and orientation of corners. Its strength in dealing with junctions as well as corners is demonstrated. With this method, corner points are detected as intensity patterns that are anisotropic along several directions. Pixels belonging to the arms of the detected corners are analysed, and a histogram search provides a measure of their dominant orientations. Based on a single derivative scheme proposed by Yang et al. [Structure adaptive anisotropic image filtering, Image and Vision Computing 14 (1996) 135–145] the approach has proved to be insensitive to noise and has been applied to both synthetic and real-life images.
A New Corner Detection Algorithm Based on Barycenter Finding

Abstract:A new algorithm was presented for the detection of corners of digital contour profiles based on barycenter.Firstly the length of curve on two sides of the each point on the contour profile is calculated to determine the support area,of which the end point is obtained with interpolation technique.Next an intersected polygons method is employed to calculate the barycenter of support area with given length.And then the distance between each point in the support area and its corresponding barycenter is used as feature strength to determine the feature point candidates.Finally the points with local maximum feature strength are chosen as corner point.The experiments show that the new algorithm is more accurate for corner detection and has stronger noise-tolerant capacity than the other algorithms.

Abstract:Since detection result is not good enough when detecting real image using line search mechanism corner detection algorithm, a feature selection criterion based on priority and adaptive non-maximal suppression (ANMS) is proposed in this paper to control the number and density of features in the image. Experimental results show that the algorithm can detect corner more reasonable, and can be used in image mosaics well.

Abstract:In order to meet the demand of high accuracy with low computational complexity in corner detection,by analyzing the properties of the lines that across the corner,this paper proposed a new algorithm based on the number of the end-line. The algorithm employsed a circle mask centered on the pixel in question which would be called the"nucleus"of the mask,then calculatesd the equivalent value of the number of end-lines which acrossed the nucleus,the pixel would be identified as the corner while the equivalent value between maximum threshold and minimal threshold. To suppress the false response,this paper put forward a non-maximum suppression method. Experiments demonstrate validity of the new method,and show its advantages both in accuracy and rapidity.

Abstract:Corners in images represent a lot of important information. Extracting corners accurately is significant to image processing, which can reduce much of the calculations. In this paper, two widely used corner detection algorithms, SUSAN and Harris corner detection algorithms which are both based on intensity, were compared in stability, noise immunity and complexity quantificationally via stability factor η, anti-noise factor ρ and the runtime of each algorithm. It concluded that Harris corner detection algorithm was superior to SUSAN corner detection algorithm on the whole. Moreover, SUSAN and Harris detection algorithms were improved by selecting an adaptive gray difference threshold and by changing directional differentials, respectively, and compared using these three criterions. In addition, SUSAN and Harris corner detectors were applied to an image matching experiment. It was verified that the quantitative evaluations of the corner detection algorithms were valid through calculating match efficiency, defined as correct matching corner pairs dividing by matching time, which can reflect the performances of a corner detection algorithm comprehensively. Furthermore, the better corner detector was used into image mosaic experiment, and the result was satisfied. The work of this paper can provide a direction to the improvement and the utilization of these two corner detection algorithms.

Abstract:Geometric attack is a challenging issue in digital image watermarking field. In this paper,we propose a spatial domain-localised robust digital image watermarking algorithm,which takes the image corner as the feature point and is based on odd/even quantified embedding / detection method. The main means the algorithm adopts are:( 1) for robust corner detection,it uses the curvature scale space-based corner detection algorithm with adaptive threshold and dynamically supported area;(2) it screens corner based on the complexity of image's texture,and takes the screened corner as the circle centre to form circular feature area with geometric invariance;(3) it designs in feature area an annular watermarking pattern,and uses in spatial domain the classic odd/even quantification method to embed and detect watermarks. Experiments show that,after the watermarks are embedded,the algorithm can still keep higher quality of image vision,and has quite strong robust on common signal treatment and against the geometric attacks including rotation,zooming,translation,cropping and the composition of them all.
Method for High-Speed Corner Detection Based on the Fuzzy ID3 Decision Tree

Abstract:The previous algorithms for corner detection are computationally intensive for using in real-time applications of any complexity.A high-speed corner detection algorithm was developed to solve the problem.The algorithm uses a 3 pixels diameter Bresenham's circle as the test mask,overlapping the candidate corners with the nucleus.Pixels on the circle are compared with the nucleus of the intensity value,with the membership function used to give the fuzzified result.The pixel with maximum information gain was then chosen as the parent node by Fuzzy ID3 algorithm,according to the classification rules defined in this paper.A binary decision tree was built to partition the corners and non-corners.The pictures taken in Fengtai Railway Station in Beijing were used to test the method.Experimental results show that when the number of pixels on the test mask chosen to be 9,best detection result can be obtained.The corner detector significantly outperforms existing detectors in computational efficiency without sacrificing the quality and the method also provides high performance against Poisson noise and Gaussian noise.

Abstract:There is no parametric formulation of corner, so the conventional Hough transform cannot be employed to detect corners directly. A random corner detection method is developed in this paper based on a new concept "accumulative intersection space" under Monte Carlo scheme. This method transforms the corner detection in the image space into local maxima localization in the accumulative intersection space where the intersections are accumulated by random computations. The proposed algorithm has been demonstrated by both theory and experiments. The proposed algorithm is isotropic, robust to image rotation, insensitive to noise and false corners on diagonal edges. Unlike the other existing contour based corner detection methods, our algorithm can effectively avoid the influence of the edge detectors, such as rounding corners or line interceptions. Extensive comparisons among our approach and the other detectors including Harris operator, Fei Shen and Han Wang detector, Han Wang and Brady detector, Foveated Visual Search method and SIFT feature, have shown the effectiveness of our method.

Abstract:In three-dimensional reconstruction,the task of corner-detecting and matching,not only is a basic part,but also has respect to veracity of the reconstruction.The algorithm introduced in this paper,with the merits of some classical algorithms,using two different conditions to make judgment,which can effectively improve the velocity of detecting,the quantity of corners,and the precision of corner-detecting.On this basis,a simple method,using the template matching,is used to match the corners.Experiments show that this algorithm is proved to be better than some other existing ways.It is simpler and more accurate,the number of matched pairs of corners which is large enough can be obtained for the next step of three-dimensional reconstruction.

Abstract:Chessboard corner detection is a fundamental work of the popular chessboard pattern-based camera calibration technique. In this paper, a fast and robust algorithm for chessboard corner detection is presented. In our method, an initial corner set is obtained with an improved Hessian corner detector. And then, a novel strategy which takes both textural and geometrical characteristics of a chessboard into consideration is employed to eliminate fake corners in the initial corner set. The proposed algorithm only requires a user-input of the total number of chessboard inner corners, while all the other parameters can be adaptively calculated with a statistical approach. Experimental results on two public data sets demonstrate that the proposed method can outperform the most commonly used OpenCV method in terms of both detection rate and computational efficiency.

Abstract:The paper compares the universal methods for subpixel corner detection used in calibration process and do an experiment with some images to test these methods.To the fault case when using line fitting,the paper gives a method that locates the subpixel edge by space moment before uses line fitting.By experiment with the improved method and Zhang calibration method we can see the notable improvement of calibration precision.

Abstract:Reliable corner detection is extremely important for applications such as 3D scene reconstruction, image registration and motion tracking. There are many kinds of corner detector which have been wildly used. However, the image's changing contrast and brightness under different illuminations may considerably influence these traditional detectors' response, which makes the setting of universal threshold very difficult. In this paper, a phase congruency based corner detection method is proposed. The new operator finds the corner points within an image through searching the maximal phase congruency in frequency domain. The phase information is obtained by wavelet transform with Log-Gabor filter. The result of detection is highly localized and invariant to image's illumination. Contrast experiments between the proposed detector and the widely used Harris detector have been made on both synthetic and natural scene images. The experimental results have shown that accuracy of detection and localization of corner points can be achieved with the proposed method.
