Abstract:Objective To study the chemical constituents from leaves of Phyllostachys pubescens. Method Column chromatography on sephadex LH-20 as well as preparative HPLC and spectral analysis were used to isolate and elucidate the constituents. Result Six compounds were isolated from leaves of Phyllostachys pubescens, and identified as vanillin (I), syringic aldehyde (II), p-hydroxybenzaldehyde (III), vanillic acid (IV), syringic acid (V), 4-hydroxy-3-methoxy cinnamic acid, ethyl ester (VI). Conclusion All above the compounds were isolated from the plant for the first time.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To study the chemical constituents of oligostilbenes from Vitis davidii.METHOD:Compounds were isolated with polystyrene resin RA, silica gel and C18 column chromatography. The structures were elucidated by means of spectroscopic evidence.RESULT:Seven compounds were obtained and identified as resveratrol, heyneanol A, ampelopsin E, amurensin B, (+)-epsilon-viniferin, vitisin A and amurensin G.CONCLUSION:All the compounds were isolated from this plant for the first time.

Abstract:Objective: To investigate the chemical constituents of the branches and leaves of Uvaria kurzii. Method: Compounds were isolated and purified by silica gel and Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography. Their chemical structures were identified on the basis of physicochemical properties and spectral data. Result: Nineteen compounds were isolated and identified as:β-sitosterol hexadecanoate ( 1 ) , stigmasterol hexadecanoate (2) ,β-acetylsitosterol (3) ,β-acetylstigmasterol (4) , tetratriacontanol (5) , dotriacontanoic acid (6), β-sitosterol (7), stigmasterol (8), 5α-stigmast-3,6-dione (9), 5α-stigmast-22-ene-3,6-dione (10), vanillic acid ( 11 ), protocatechuic acid ( 12 ), N-( p-trans-coumaroyl ) tyramine ( 13 ) , kaempferol-3-O-β-D-( 6"-O-p-coumaryoyl ) galactopyrannoside (14) , kaempferol-3-O-rutinoide (15) , rutin (16) , daucosterol ( 17 ) , L-quebrachitol( 18 ) , allantoin ( 19 ) , respectively.Conclusion: Compounds 1-6, 9, 10, 13, 18, 19 were isolated from Annonaceae plants; Compounds 14-16 were obtained from the genus Uvaria; and 7, 8, 11, 12, 17 were separated from this plant respectively for the first time.

Abstract:Six compounds were isolated and purified from Orobanche coerulescens by extraction and different kinds of column chromatography. The structures were determined on the basis of spectral analysis. The structures were elucidated as D-mannitol(I), beta-sitosterol(II), succinic acid(III), caffeic acid(IV), protocatechuic aldehyde(V) and daucosterol(VI). All compounds are obtained from this plant for the first time.

Abstract:Six flavonoids were isolated from the whole plants of Crossostephium chinense (L.) Makino.Their structures were identified on the basis of spectral data analysis to be tricetin 3′,4′,5′-trimethylether (1),hispidulin (2),apometzgerin (3),quercetagetin 3,6,7-trimethylether (4),selagin (5) and quercetin-7-O-β-D-glucoside (6).All of compounds were isolated from this genus for the first time.

Abstract:Eight compounds were isolated from EtOAc-soluble fraction of 70% ethanolic extract from the rhizome of Cibotium barometz (L.) J.Sm..On the basis of spectroscopic analysis,they were identified as (24R)-stigmast-4-ene-3-one (1),24-methylenecycloartanol (2),β-sitosterol (3),(3R)-des-O-methyl lasiodiplodin (4),protocatechuic aldehyde (5),onitin (6),alternariol (7),and daucosterol (8).Compounds 1,2,4,and 7 were isolated from the genus Cibotium Kaulf.for the first time.

Abstract:This study was aimed to investigate the chemical constituents from the leaves of Vitex negundovar. cannabifolia. Column chromatography including silica gel, Sephadex LH-20, ODS, and semi-preparative HPLC were used to separate and purify the chemical constituents, and the structures were elucidated on the basis of physicochemical properties, MS and NMR spectroscopic data. As a result, 11 compounds were isolated from the ethyl acetate extract of V. negundo var. cannabifolia, and identified as apigenin (1), penduletin (2), chrysosplenol-D (3), quercetin (4), 1,4-dihydroxy-3R,5R-dicaffeoyloxy cyclohexane carboxylic acid (5), maeranthoin F (6), capsidiol (7), caryolandiol (8), β-sitosterol (9), p-hydroxybenzonic acid (10), and β-daucosterin (11). It was concluded that compounds 5 8were firstly isolated from the plants of Vitex genus, and compounds 1 and 4 were isolated from V. negundovar. cannabifolia for the first time.

Abstract:7 compounds were isolated from the ethyl-acetate extract of Vaccinium iteophyllum Hance by using repeated silical gel column chromatography. These 7 compounds were identified by means of physico-chemical propertic and spectroscopic analysis as beta-sitosterol (I), ursolic acid (II), taraxerol (III), taraxerone (IV), friedelin (V), friedelinol (VI), 19,24-dihydroxyurs-12-en-3-one-28-oic acid (VII). The chemical constituents from this plant were reported here for the first time.

Abstract:The chemical constituents of the herb of Cuscuta chinensis Lam. were investigated. Five compounds were isolated from petroleum ether and chloroform fraction. Method: The constituents were extracted with methanol and isolated by chromatography on silica gel, Sephadex LH-20 and ODS. The structures were determined by NMR and MS spectral analysis. Result: Seven compounds were identified as 2-hydroxy-7-methyl-9, 10-anthraquinone (1), 2-methyl-9, 10-anthraquinone (tectoquinone) (2), ursolic acid (3), vanillic acid (4), beta-sitosteryl-D-glucoside-6'-palmitate (5), beta-sitosterol (6), daucosterol (7), respectively. Conclusion: Compounds 1, 2, 3 and 5 were isolated for the first time from the family Gesneriaceae, compounds 4 and 6 were isolated for the first time from the genus Chirita, and compound 7 was isolated for the frist time from Chirita longgangensis var.

Abstract:Phytochemical investigation of the tubers of Ophiopogon japonicus led to the isolation of five previously undescribed steroidal saponins, ophiojaponins A-E, together with twelve known ones. The structures of these isolated compounds were elucidated by detailed spectroscopic analyses and chemical methods. Ophiojaponins A-C are rare naturally occurring C<sub>29</sub> steroidal glycosides possessing a homo-cholestane skeleton with an aromatized ring E. Ruscogenin 1-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1 → 2)-4-O-sulfo-β-D-fucopyranosido-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside was isolated as single component and its full spectroscopic data was reported for the first time. The isolated steroidal saponins were evaluated for their cytotoxicities against two human tumor cell lines MG-63 and SNU387. Among them, five known spirostane-type glycosides showed cytotoxic activity against both MG-63 and SNU387 cell lines with IC<sub>50</sub> values ranging from 0.76 to 27.0 μM.

Abstract:Phytochemical investigation of 70% aqueous EtOH extract of Cistanche sinensis led to the isolation of fifteen compounds (1-15), including nine phenylethanoid glycosides (PhGs, 1-9), five iridoid glycosides (10-14), and one lignan glycoside (15). Their structures were determined on the basis of 1D- and 2D-NMR experiments and by comparison with physical data of known compounds. Among the isolated compounds, 1 was identified as a new compound, three compounds (9, 14, and 15) were firstly reported from the genus Cistanche, and seven compounds (2-6, 11, and 12) were isolated from C sinensis for the first time. PhGs with a 6'-O-rhamnosyl moiety such as cistansinenside B (1), poliumoside (7), and 2'-O-acetylpoliumoside (9) could serve as chemotaxonomic markers to differentiate C sinensis from other species of Cistanche. Methods: Column chromatography and spectral analysis were used to isolate and identify the constituents. Results: Ten compounds were isolated and identified as beta-sitosterol (I), beta-sitosterol glucoside (II), 4', 5,5', 7-tetrahydroxy-3'-methoxy-3'-O-alpha-L-arabinopyranosyl flavone (III), gallic acid (IV), myricetin (V), annulatin (VI), 5,5', 7-trihydroxy-2',3-dimethoxy-4'-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl flavone (VII), 2', 5,5',7-tetrahydroxy -3-methoxy-4'-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside flavone (VIII), myricetin-3-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranoside (IX) and myricetin-3,4'-dimethyl ether( X). Conclusion: Compounds I, II, V, VIII and X are isolated from Pteroxygonum giraldii for the first time.
