Clinical Study on the Degree of Dural Trauma and the Prevention of Cerebrospinal Fluid Leakage

Abstract:[Objective] To probe the degree of dural trauma and the method of preventing leakage of cerebrospinal fluid. [Methods] 116 patients sustained dural trauma were retrospected between Jan 1997 and Dec 2005. which were divided into three groups. In group A, the dural defect was satured directly, In group B, the dural defect was repaired by deep fascia or other pieces. In group C, covered with biocolloid after repairing of dural trauma during operation . The prognosis and cerebrospinal fluid leakage were observed after operation. [Results] The rates of cerebrospinal fluid leakage were 6.9%, 27.3% and 5% respectively in group A.B.C. [Conclusions] The dural trauma can be divided by differ degrees, the cerebrospinal fluid leakage occurring related with the degree of dural trauma. Using biocolloid after repairing dural trauma can reduce the cerebrospinal fluid leakage effectively.
