Abstract:Eye detection is one ofthe principal tasks in face analysis. The eye location is very helpful in many applications. This paper regards eye detection as two-class problem and employs SVM filter for finding the eye locations. Unlike other eye detection methods, we do not exploit any of explicit feature extraction approaches. Instead, the grayscale values of eye sub-image are fed to the filter directly. This is based on the observation that SVM has good learning capability in high dimensional feature space and incorporates the mechanics similar to feature extraction in its own architecture. Experimental results show the effectiveness ofthe presented system, even for low quality images.
