Abstract:s By exploiting the enhanced nonlinearity of multiple outer isolated detached transmissibility curves (OIDTCs), the isolation frequency of the X-shaped two-stage vibration isolator is effectively reduced. A six-degree-of-freedom dynamic equation is established using the Lagrange equation, and solved using the incremental harmonic balance method (IHBM) to address the nonlinear dynamic issues of the X-shaped two-stage vibration isolation system. Furthermore, the application of the Floquet theory enhances the understanding of the stability characteristics of the system. This study reveals a non-traditional perspective: properly reducing the system stiffness k 1 can enhance nonlinear characteristics, thus improving vibration isolation performance. As the side length l of the quadrilateral X-shaped isolator increases, the maximum transmissibility near Ω/ ω 1 = 0.86 elevates, resulting in a weakening of the vibration isolation effect. Additionally, in the vicinity of Ω/ ω 1 = 1.32, the increase in l causes the disappearance of the left transmission peak, indicating an enhancement in vibration isolation effectiveness at this frequency. Moreover, an increase in the lightweight plate-to-lightweight rods mass ratio m influences the shift of frequency jump points and expands the coverage range of OIDTCs, thereby leading to high transmissibility over a broad frequency range, consequently diminishing the vibration isolation effect. Importantly, this paper also uncovers some unreported phenomena, including multiple OIDTCs and high transmissibility over a broad frequency range. Through rigorous experimental validation and meticulous comparison with theoretical models, the experimental data confirm the accuracy of the analytical results, particularly the acquisition of experimental data for Type-3 and Type-4 OIDTCs, which strongly support the multiple OIDTCs discovered in this study. Comparisons of the isolation performance between single-degree-of-freedom two-stage and X-shaped two-stage vibration isolation systems reveal that the latter exhibits enhanced nonlinearities formed by the collaboration of softening nonlinearity and outer isolated detached nonlinearity. This collaboration results in multiple force transmissibility peaks shifting towards lower frequencies, thereby reducing the vibration isolation frequency and improving low-frequency vibration isolation performance.
