Abstract:An unexpected process from tetrahydrodiazirino[3,1-a]isoquinolines and diversified sulfonyl chlorides RSO2Cl (R=aryl, alkyl) to deliver highly yields 4,5-dihydro-3H-benzo[d][1,2]diazepine skeleton compounds was disclosed via N-insertion ring-opening reaction. The structural framework of 2,3-benzodiazepines is unambiguously confirmed by single-crystal X-ray crystallographic analysis. The present protocol features mild reaction conditions, high yields and feasibility of large-scale synthesis and catalyst-free access to benzo[2,3]diazepines skeleton. In contrast, azomethine imines were produced by employing tetrahydrodiazirino[3,1-a]isoquinoline reacts with aroyl chlorides under the same conditions.

Abstract:An efficient strategy for carbazole synthesis from arylureas and cyclohexanones under transition metal‐free conditions has been developed. The combined use of potassium iodide and iodine could significantly improve the reaction efficiency to provide 2,6‐disubstituted 9‐arylcarbazoles in moderate to good yields. In this kind of transformation, the whole carbazole moiety (except the nitrogen atom) comes from two equivalents of cyclohexanones.

Abstract:An efficient strategy for carbazoles and 1,2,4-triarylpyrroles synthesis from anilines and cyclohexanones or acetophenones under transition-metal-free conditions is developed. A variety of disubstituted 9-arylcarbazoles were synthesized in moderate to good yields promoted by KI/I-2 using anilines as the nitrogen and aryl source. Meanwhile, a variety of 1,2,4-triarylpyrroles were also selectively synthesized from anilines and acetophenones in the presence of KI alone.

Abstract:A transition-metal- and oxidant-free amination/cyclization reaction to access 1,2,4-triazolo[1,5-a]pyridines was realized in water by using amino diphenylphosphinate as amino source. A broad array of readily accessible N-(pyridyl)amides could be converted into the products featuring a diverse set of functional groups. The sustainable methodology was successfully applied to the late-stage functionalization of natural products and drugs.

The process is an efficient construction of this tricyclic system by a one-pot coupling/Smiles rearrangement/cyclization approach. Abstract:The first aryl iodide catalyzed intramolecular C-H amination of phenylurea has been disclosed for high-efficiency synthesis of benzimidazolone derivatives in excellent yields (up to 97%) by an operationally simple one-step organocatalytic oxidative process. Fluorinated protic alcohols can efficiently accelerate the conversion of this transformation. The straightforward method has good functional group tolerance and can be performed with an inexpensive and readily accessible catalyst with high proficiency.

Abstract:Mediated by 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone (DDQ), a novel oxidative coupling of hydrazones and 1,3-diarylpropenes has been disclosed to generate appealing β,γ-unsaturated hydrazones, which further undergo 5-exo-trig or 6-endo-trig cascade cyclization to give the respective 1,2-dihydropyridazines or pyrazoles selectively under metal-free conditions. The mechanisms of the coupling and subsequent cyclization are proposed.

Abstract:A selective copper(I)-catalyzed benzylic C(sp3)–H geminal difunctionalization reaction of a benzylic-type sp3 carbon was developed. This novel strategy allowed simultaneous introduction of amide and hydroxyl group in a highly selective and efficient way via successive oxidative intramolecular amidation and hydroxylation. This method was also applied to the synthesis of 3-hydroxy-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrrolo[3,4-b]quinoxalinones from readily available 3-methyl-N-substituted quinoxaline-2-carboxamides in moderate to good yields. The five-membered cyclic hemiaminal moiety of the pyrrolo[3,4-b]quinoxalinones can serve as an intermediates for subsequent transformations into other useful functional groups.

Abstract:Comprehensive Summary A convenient approach for the construction of 2‐aminobenzothiazoles via I2‐catalyzed tandem cyclization reaction of amines and carbon disulfide has been developed. The present approach starts from simple and readily available starting materials, affording a series of 2‐aminobenzothiazoles in up to 89% yields under metal‐free conditions. Abstract:Pyrazoles and pyrazolo fused pyrimidines and pyridines are well known for their applications in various fields like pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and materials sciences. Keeping this in mind herein, we have developed the transition‐metal‐free approach for the chemo‐selective synthesis of the pyrazole and its derivatives from acetopheneones. The selectivity of the reaction can easily be tuned by shifting reaction from acidic to basic medium for the synthesis of pyrazolo‐pyrirmidines and pyrazolo‐pyridines respectively. The reaction shows excellent functional group tolerance in the form of –F, –Cl, –Br, –NMe2, –OH, –OMe, and –B(OH)2 in good yields.

Abstract:An efficient one‐pot synthesis of 1H‐pyrazoles has been realized via cascade cyclocondensation of β‐nitroalkenes as C2 synthon with α‐diazoesters as C1N2 unit. The reaction proceeds via concomitant formation of two new (C‐N & C‐C) bonds in one stretch leading to ethyl 5‐nitro‐4‐phenyl‐4,5‐dihydro‐3H‐pyrazole‐3‐carboxylate intermediate, which undergoes base mediated denitration enabling the formation of NH‐pyrazoles. This protocol not only features easy operation, catalyst‐free conditions, good to high yields, wide scope and late‐stage functionalization, but also opens up a new avenue for synthetically demanding and structurally non‐traditional pyrazoles. A combination of experimental and DFT studies provide evidence for the proposed mechanism.
