Abstract:Atmospheric environments in mountain areas are different from those on the ground surface due to more significant diurnal variations in humidity and temperature and more intensive solar radiation, thus it is expected that aerosol chemistry in the mountain atmosphere differ from that in urban ground surface. Therefore it is indispensable to make a simultaneous measurement for the chemistry of aerosols from ground surface to the free troposphere. In 2009 we conducted simultaneous observations of aerosols in Xi'an, Mt. Hua and Mt. Tai to investigate the spatial and temporal differences in compositions, size distributions and sources. Here we briefly reported our observations results of springtime aerosols with a focus on the impact of Gobi desert dust storm on the composition and size distribution of airborne particles from the three downwind atmospheres.
