Exploration of Multi-Layer Blended Learning Pedagogy for EAP Courses under the “new Engineering” Construction Chinese Full Text

Abstract:Based on the construct of multi-layer blending, and taking a graduate ESAP course as an example, this study probes into the blended learning approach to EAP courses. A blended learning model for the course is designed, which achieves blending at the levels of physical time and space, technology application, SLA pedagogical theories and evaluation. Action research is employed to explore effective ways of applying the blended learning model, and the effect of blended learning practice is investigated via the observation of online and offline classes, writing task evaluation and questionnaire survey. The results show that the pedagogical practice effectively improves EAP teaching efficiency and quality, and reaches the goal of “New Engineering” versatile professionals cultivation by developing students’ knowledge, ability, humanity and specialty.
