Efficacy and Safety of Total Glucosides of Paeony Cap-sule Combined with Conventional Treatments for Der-matitis and Eczema:A Meta-Analysis

Abstract:Objective To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of total glycosides of paeony capsule（TGPC） combined with conventional treatments for the treatment of dermatitis and eczema.Methods Four Chinese literature databases and four English literature databases were retrieved from their inceptions to December 31, 2022, including CNKI, WangFang, VIP, SinoMed, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Medline, and Web of Science, and the eligible randomized controlled trials were screened.Revman 5.3 software was used for statistical analyses.Results A total of 10 studies were included.The pooled results showed that TGPC combined with topical corticosteroid had a significantly higher total efficacy rate than topical corticosteroid alone（RR=1.30, 95%CI=1.08～1.56, Z=2.79, P＜0.01）, the total efficacy rates between TGPC plus topical corticosteroid and oral antihistamine plus topical corticosteroid were not statistically different（RR=1.11, 95%CI=0.92～1.35, Z=1.08, P=0.28）, and TGPC could significantly improve the total efficacy rate of oral antihistamine and topical corticosteroid（RR=1.55, 95%CI=1.35～1.76, Z=6.46, P＜0.01）.Few patients suffered from adverse reactions during the treatments, including abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, and loose stool, which were mild and could disappear spontaneously.Conclusion TGPC could enhance the effect of conventional treatments on dermatitis and eczema, and the adverse reactions of TGP are few and mild.
