Factors Influencing Physical Inactivity Status among Chinese Pregnant Women: a Cross-Sectional Study

Abstract:Abstract Background Regular prenatal physical activity provides numerous health benefits to both mother and fetus. However, little is known about the physical activity status of pregnant women in China and whether they meet the current guidelines for prenatal physical activity. The aims of the study were to assess physical inactivity status and associated factors among pregnant women in Shanghai, China. Methods A cross-sectional study of 1636 pregnant women were recruited at a tertiary obstetrics and gynecology hospital in Shanghai. Maternal sociodemographic characteristics and health information were obtained using structured questionnaires or from the electronic medical records. Physical inactivity status was assessed using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form. Factors pertinent to physical inactivity were identified by binary logistic regression and were reported with adjusted odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). All statistical analyses were performed using the SPSS software package. Results In total, the prevalence of physical inactivity was 47.5%. Walking was the main form of physical activity and only 2.8% of the pregnant women achieved the goal of at least 150 min of moderate-intensity physical activity weekly. Multivariate logistic regression identified a significant negative association of physical inactivity with personal monthly income (adjusted OR 0.648, 95% CI 0.505–0.831), engagement in regular exercise before pregnancy (adjusted OR 0.575, 95% CI 0.464–0.711) and in the second (adjusted OR 0.534, 95% CI 0.411–0.693) or third (adjusted OR 0.615, 95% CI 0.470–0.806) trimester of pregnancy. Women with nausea or vomiting during pregnancy were more likely to be physically inactive during pregnancy (adjusted OR 1.307, 95% CI 1.002–1.705). Conclusion Physical inactivity is highly prevalent among pregnant women in China. Further efforts should be taken to overcome the barriers to prenatal physical activity and to promote moderate- to vigorous-intensity activities among Chinese pregnant women.
Physical activity and associated factors in Australian women during pregnancy: A cross‐sectional study

Abstract:Issue Addressed Whilst the benefits of regular physical activity during pregnancy are well known, the few studies conducted in Australian pregnant women suggest that most do not meet recommended exercise guidelines. The aim of this study was to determine the levels of physical activity, sedentary behaviours, and associated factors in Australian pregnant women. Methods A random sample of pregnant women (N = 780) of (mean [SD]) 31 (5) years of age completed a questionnaire describing weekly physical activity and sedentary behaviours. A number of potential risk factors, including socio‐demographic characteristics and ethnicity, were investigated using logistic regression. Results Approximately one‐third (34%) of women were classified as "active"; however, only 7% of women performed the recommended amount of physical activity according to Australian guidelines. Women reported (mean [95% CI]) sitting for 8 (7.8–8.2) hours and lying down during the day for 0.5 (0.5–0.6) hour while pregnant. Being university educated (OR [95% CI]) (2.87 [1.6–4.9]), in paid employment (2.12 [1.14–3.94]) and having a lower body mass index (0.91 [0.87–0.95]) were factors associated with being active. Conclusion Australian women performed low levels of physical activity during pregnancy and spend long periods of time in sedentary behaviours. So What? There is a strong need for a concerted health promotion strategy to endorse increased physical activity, along with a reduction in sedentary behaviours, during pregnancy to support better maternal outcomes in Australia.

Abstract:Background Physical activity during pregnancy has been recommended as an effective measure to prevent various pregnancy complications. However, global physical activity participation during pregnancy is not optimal, and the factors influencing physical activity participation during pregnancy need to be further investigated. In China, where there are no localized guidelines for physical activity during pregnancy, the prevalence of meeting recommended physical activity levels among Chinese pregnant women is still unclear. Objectives This study aimed to comprehensively review the prevalence of meeting recommended physical activity levels among pregnant women in China and to further explore the factors influencing physical activity participation during pregnancy. Design This was a systematic review and meta-analysis. Methods A systematic review was conducted in both English and Chinese databases from inception until August 1, 2023. Two reviewers independently screened literature, assessed study eligibility and extracted data. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality was used to evaluated methodological quality of included studies. The pooled prevalence was calculated using a random-effects model. Subgroup analyses were conducted to explore sources of heterogeneity. Results A total of 12 cross-sectional studies, including 11,323 Chinese pregnant women with a mean age ranging from 27.0 to 33.0 years, met the inclusion criteria. The prevalence of meeting recommended physical activity levels among pregnant women in China was 21.0 % (95 % confidence interval (CI):12.5 %–29.5 %). A higher prevalence of meeting recommended physical activity levels was observed among pregnant women who were in their second trimester, who were living in the southern region, who were assessed by validated questionnaires, and who used 150 min physical activity per week as a criterion for meeting recommendation. Conclusions The findings suggested a low prevalence of meeting recommended physical activity levels among Chinese pregnant women, which was affected by a variety of factors. It is recommended that further research be conducted in the future to explore physical activity intervention strategies for women of childbearing age before and during pregnancy based on the factors affecting physical activity to improve physical activity compliance, maternal and child health and population quality. Abstract:Background: Regular physical activity is an important component of a health pregnancy. Being physically active during pregnancy often creates uncertainty and leads to numerous questions: How much and which kind of sports is possible? In pregnant woman a lot of physiological changes are taking place in haemodynamics, in the respiratory system, in the muculoskeletal system, in the glucose metabolism, and in further endocrinological feedback systems besides the psyche and bring about changes in fitness and physical performance. Discussion: There is evidence that the most active women show the lowest prevalence for gestational diabetes (GDM) and, moreover a lower incidence for obesity and diabetes in both mother and child. Physically active women rarely develop not only GDM but also pre-eclampsia. The protective effect of physical activity can be explained by an enhanced placental growth and vascularity, by decreased oxidative stress, reduced inflammation and an adaption of the disease-related endothelial dysfunction. Maternal obesity increases the frequencies of infertility and miscarriage. Weight loss programmes with nutritional advice and activity counsellings represent a cost-effective infertility treatment. Moreover the possibility of health problems during pregnancy are limited thereby. A high degree of fitness before pregnancy and regular physical activity before conception can prevent the excessive weight gain during pregnancy and influence the weight at the very best. Conclusions: Considering common recommendations for training, as well as careful measures and contraindications, a moderate individual training to maintain physical and psychic fitness is desirable. Many kinds of sports like jogging, nordic walking, swimming and cycling, for example, can be carried out in a pregnancy without any risks and furthermore promote the health of the future mother and child.

Abstract:Introduction and Objective: There is no doubt that engaging in regular physical activity is beneficial for individuals of all ages. Pregnancy is a special time of life for most women. This period presents a unique opportunity for them to improve their lifestyle choices and adopt healthier habits such as exercise. The aim of this article is to find out if regular physical activity during pregnancy has a positive impact for both the mother and the baby.Review and Methods: Review and summary of available studies and meta-analyses found in open-access formats on Google Scholar and PubMed.State of Knowledge: The WHO defines physical activity as any bodily movement requiring energy expenditure, including during leisure, transport, work, and domestic activities. Regular exercise reduces the risk of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and poor health outcomes, while sedentary behavior contributes to this and burdens healthcare systems. For pregnant and postpartum women, physical movement decreases the risk of various complications, with no negative effects on birthweight or stillbirth risk. Conclusions: Studies show that physical activity decreased risk of pre-eclampsia, gestational hypertension, gestational diabetes, excessive gestational weight gain, delivery complications, postpartum depression and newborn complications.

Abstract:It is recommended that pregnant women be physically active to promote maternal and child health. This study aimed to explore the prevalence of physical inactivity and its modifiable predictors in the three trimesters in Chinese pregnant women. Four hundred forty‐four pregnant women completed the Pregnant Physical Activity Questionnaire in the first, second, and third trimesters. The prevalence of physical inactivity reached its highest (66.2%) in the first trimester and lowest (19.4%) in the second trimester. Pregnant women with inadequate physical activity knowledge and low self‐efficacy were at higher risk for physical inactivity. Monitoring physical inactivity could be incorporated into antenatal care and start from the first trimester. Prenatal care professionals should take action to increase pregnant women's physical activity self‐efficacy and knowledge to enhance their physical activity.

Abstract:BACKGROUND:Physical activity (PA) and dietary intake are important modifiable factors associated with health outcomes. However, Chinese pregnant women's PA and dietary intake are only vaguely understood. The aim of this study was to reveal the characteristics of PA and dietary intake of Chinese women in different trimesters as well as the associations between PA and dietary intake. METHODS:This is a cross-sectional observational study. PA, dietary intake, and demographics of 1077 Chinese pregnant women were measured. The Chi-square test, Kruskal-Wallis test, multiple logistic regression, and multiple linear regression were used for data analysis. RESULTS:About 57.1% of the participants met the international guideline for PA. Household activity and occupational activity contributed the most to the total PA, while sports/exercise contributed little. The mean energy intake of the participants was 2008 ± 748.0 kcal. Most participants had normal energy intake, but they obtained excessive energy from fat (mean = 41.7 ± 8.7%). PA was not found to be significantly associated with dietary intake. Further, the participants who were unemployed during pregnancy (OR = 0.72, 95% CI: 0.55-0.95; p < 0.05) or had no exercise habits before pregnancy (OR = 0.62, 95% CI: 0.47-0.80; p < 0.01) were less likely to meet the PA guideline. The participants in the third trimester (OR = 1.43, 95% CI: 1.03-1.99; p < 0.05) were more likely to meet the PA guideline compared to those in the first trimester. The older participants (> 30 years) showed higher dietary intake than the younger (< 25 years) participants (p < 0.01). CONCLUSIONS:The total PA of Chinese women during pregnancy mostly consists of household and occupational activities, but little sports/exercise. Starting exercise before pregnancy may help women achieve adequate PA during pregnancy. Moreover, these women consumed an excessive amount of fat and their diet intake varies by age.

Abstract:Introduction: Though exercise during pregnancy can yield important maternal benefits, most pregnant women in China do less aerobic exercise than is currently recommended. This qualitative study aimed to explore the perceptions and experiences of physical exercise among pregnant women and to identify perceived barriers to and facilitators of exercise participation. Methods: Purposive sampling was used to recruit 40 pregnant women attending prenatal visits at an obstetrics outpatient department of a tertiary general hospital in Southern China. Individual semi-structured telephone interviews were conducted with the verbatim transcripts analyzed through content analysis. Results: Three main themes emerged from the data: perceptions and patterns of exercise; concerns and hesitations about participating in exercise; and determinants of adoption and maintenance of exercise participation. Though pregnant women recognised their need for physical exercise instruction, their demands remained unmet due to a combination of factors such as lack of knowledge, confidence, and support, and concerns about safety. Discussion: The findings of this study suggest that the provision of tailored exercise programs for pregnant women, which include education, reassurance, motivational strategies, and lay and professional support, may help improve knowledge, allay concerns, boost confidence, and bolster support when doing physical exercise.
Correlates of Physical Activity Engagement among Pregnant Women with Overweight and Obesity

Abstract:Background: Excess weight during pregnancy increases risk for adverse obstetrical outcomes. Physical activity (PA) may buffer these effects, although it is unclear what factors are associated with PA in women who begin pregnancy with overweight/obesity. The present study sought to characterize the demographic and psychological correlates of PA among women with prepregnancy overweight/obesity. Methods: Pregnant women (N = 249; mean age, 28.48 ± 5.48 years; mean body mass index, 34.13 ± 7.07 kg/m2) at 12-20 weeks of gestation (mean, 15.68 ± 2.44 weeks of gestation) completed ratings of perceived stress and depressive symptoms and were interviewed using the pregnancy version of the Eating Disorders Examination. The Paffenbarger Physical Activity Survey was administered via interview to estimate energy expenditure. Continuous outcomes were evaluated via linear regression, while logistic regression was conducted to assess likelihood of meeting PA guidelines. Results: Mean weekly duration of moderate to vigorous PA was 109.50 ± 248.17 minutes, with 21% of women meeting federal PA guidelines of 150 minutes or more. Higher perceived stress (β = -0.217; p = .02) and eating psychopathology (β = -0.213; p < .01) were associated with lower total energy expenditure. Black women reported lower expenditure specifically from walking compared with White women (β = -0.180; p = .03). Depressive symptoms were not associated with PA. No estimate of PA predicted body mass index. Conclusions: Pregnant women with overweight/obesity engage in modest amounts of PA early in pregnancy, although few meet PA guidelines. Greater perceived stress and eating psychopathology were associated with lower PA engagement. These factors should be monitored by obstetrics providers to identify women who may particularly benefit from counseling about PA during pregnancy.

Abstract:A comprehensive understanding of physical activity levels (PAL) among Chinese pregnant women and an exploration, from a continuous care perspective, of various factors influencing these activity levels. Investigating the correlations between adverse habits, psychological factors, and PAL in prenatal health management. This study aims to provide substantial guidance for prenatal health management and personalized care, offering recommendations to healthcare professionals and policymakers to enhance the overall health and well-being of pregnant women. This study enrolled 1256 pregnant women as research subjects. Baseline information was collected through a personal information collection form. Subsequently, continuous care was provided during the early, middle, and late stages of pregnancy, documenting the respective influencing factors. Simultaneously, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) was utilized to assess the PAL of pregnant women across different trimesters. Finally, using the SPSS software version 25.0, a combined approach of generalized linear mixed effects (GLME) models and multivariate logistic regression was used to statistically analyze the collected data, comprehensively exploring the influencing factors of PAL during pregnancy. The proportion of research subjects engaged in low-level physical activity decreased from 60.80% to 40.34% across various stages of pregnancy, while the proportion engaged in moderate-level physical activity ranged from 25.32% to 40.75%. Meanwhile, the proportion engaged in high-level physical activity accounted for 13.88% to 18.91%.There was P = .021 and β = −0.276 for smoking before pregnancy. The P-value of pregnant women who smoke in the second trimester was.035, the Odds Ratio (OR) value was 0.638, and the 95% confidence interval (CI) was (0.406, 0.972). The difference was statistically significant (all P < .05). In China, the physical activity level of pregnant women is generally low, which is related to factors such as smoking, alcohol consumption, sleep disorders, and depression during pregnancy. Medical personnel should improve the living habits of pregnant women and enhance their PAL through measures such as health education and psychological counseling.

Abstract:Introduction Regular physical activity during pregnancy is effective in preventing diseases and promoting the health outcomes of mothers and babies. However, the level of physical activity among them is not ideal. Especially in China, the proportion of pregnant women who meet the recommendation of physical activity in the guidelines is even lower. Thus, we aim to evaluate the prevalence of meeting physical activity recommendation and its influencing factors during pregnancy in China. Methods and analysis This protocol is developed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Protocols guidelines. PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, CINAHL, MEDLINE, PsycINFO, EMBASE, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), China Science and Technology Journal Database (Weipu) and WanFang Data will be comprehensively searched by two reviewers. Studies that report the prevalence of Chinese pregnant women meeting physical activity recommendation will be included. Two reviewers will independently assess eligibility, extract data and evaluate methodological quality. Data including authors, publication years, language, geographical region, tools, trimesters, prevalence and influence factors will be extracted. Data will be analysed by Stata V.11 statistical software. Ethics and dissemination No formal ethics approval is required for this protocol and no primary data are to be collected. Findings from this review may be useful to develop interventions for the physical activity of pregnant women in China. The results will be disseminated through peer-reviewed journals, conference presentations and public events. PROSPERO registration number CRD42022372722

Breaking Boundaries: A Chronology with Future Directions of Women in Exercise Physiology Research, Centred on Pregnancy

Abstract:Historically, females were excluded from clinical research due to their reproductive roles, hindering medical understanding and healthcare quality. Despite guidelines promoting equal participation, females are underrepresented in exercise science, perpetuating misconceptions about female physiology. Even less attention has been given to exercise in the pregnant population. Research on pregnancy and exercise has evolved considerably from the initial bedrest prescriptions but concerns about exercise risks during pregnancy persisted for many decades. Recent guidelines endorse moderate-intensity physical activity during pregnancy, supported by considerable evidence of its safety and benefits. Mental health during pregnancy, often overlooked, is gaining traction, with exercise showing promise in reducing depression and anxiety. While pregnancy guidelines recommend moderate-intensity physical activity, there remains limited understanding of optimal frequency, intensity, type and time (duration) for extremes like elite athletes or those with complications. Female participation in elite sport and physically demanding jobs is rising, but research on their specific needs is lacking. Traditional practices like bed rest for high-risk pregnancies are being questioned, as evidence suggests it may not improve outcomes. Historical neglect of gestational parents in research perpetuated stereotypes of female frailty, but recent years have seen a shift towards recognizing the benefits of an active pregnancy. Closing knowledge gaps and inclusivity in research are crucial for ensuring guidelines reflect the diverse needs of gestational parents. Therefore, the purpose of this review is to summarize the evolution of exercise physiology and pregnancy research along with future directions for this novel field.

Exercise interventions for weight management during pregnancy and up to 1 year postpartum among normal weight women and women with overweight and obesity: An updated systematic review

Abstract:Background: Given the increased occurrence of pre-gravid obesity in recent years, and the implications of maternal obesity for maternal and offspring health, it is evident that there is a continued need to investigate antenatal and postnatal weight management strategies and to provide evidence-based advice for exercise-based interventions. Given the small number of studies (<i>n</i> = 5) included in an original systematic review by our group in 2015, it was important to add to the dataset by assessing data published since 2015, in order to provide a more in-depth view of current knowledge.Objective: To provide an updated systematic review on studies employing exercise interventions for weight management in pregnant and postpartum women.Methods: A systematic review of randomised controlled trials evaluating the effects of an exercise intervention on gestational weight gain and postpartum weight management in normal weight women, and women with overweight and obesity was conducted. PubMed, Scopus, Central Register of Controlled Trials and Web of Science were searched for studies published between September 2013 and June 2021. No restrictions were set on type, intensity, duration, or frequency of exercise intervention. Only studies that targeted body weight or mass as a primary outcome were included.Results: Thirteen studies were included in this review: 11 during and two following pregnancy. Exercise significantly reduced gestational weight gain in five of the pregnancy studies and induced significant weight loss in one of the postpartum studies. Across studies, there were large disparities in exercise modality, frequency, and duration, although moderate intensity exercise was consistently employed.Conclusions: Some studies showed positive effects of exercise on weight management during and following pregnancy. While there is still no consensus on effective exercise intervention approaches, it is crucial that physical activity, of any safe form, is recommended to encourage healthy weight management during this time.

Abstract:Physical activity during pregnancy has numerous health benefits for the woman and the foetus. The current study investigated physical activity engagement and its predictors among pregnant Chinese women during the first trimester. A total of 687 pregnant women completed the Pregnancy Physical Activity Questionnaire. Bivariate and multivariate logistic regression were used to analyse the data. The current physical activity guidelines were not met by 64.3% of respondents. Women with higher levels of physical activity self-efficacy (aOR = 0.96; 95% CI: 0.92–0.99) and social support (aOR = 0.95; 95% CI: 0.94–0.97) had lower odds of not meeting the current physical activity guidelines. Women who were aged < 35 years (aOR = 1.85; 95% CI: 1.02–3.34), had lower education (aOR = 1.63; 95% CI: 1.04–2.55), were primiparous (aOR = 11.03; 95% CI: 6.98–17.44), were unsure of their delivery mode (aOR = 2.32; 95% CI: 1.95–5.64), and those who had higher levels of pregnancy-associated discomfort (aOR = 1.10; 95% CI: 1.03–1.19) had higher odds of not meeting the current physical activity guidelines. The current study suggests that healthcare professionals should assess physical activity engagement during routine antenatal care and increase efforts to strengthen pregnant women's self-efficacy and social support to promote physical activity engagement during the first trimester.

Abstract:This study aimed to examine when and how physical activity (PA) influences gestational weight gain (GWG) and infant birthweight (BW) by considering the PA’s total volume, timing, intensity, and type, controlling for the influence of energy intake. A total of 1272 participants in different stages of pregnancy were recruited from hospital. The associations between PA and GWG or BW in the latter half of pregnancy were significant. Women with the highest PA volume in the third trimester had significantly lower risks of inadequate and excessive GWG by 69% (OR = 0.31, 95%CI: 0.10–0.91) and 67% (OR = 0.33, 95% CI: 0.12–0.91), respectively, compared to women in the lowest quartile. Women who achieved the recommended moderate intensity of PA during their second and third trimesters, independent of total volume of PA, had infants with significantly lower BWs compared to those who did not (β = −0.15, SE = 66.33, p = 0.04; β = −0.20, SE = 64.54, p = 0.01, respectively). Therefore, the effects of total volume and intensity of PA on GWG and BW were different. Interventions to prevent inappropriate GWG and macrosomia may need to set different priorities and timing regarding total volume or intensity of PA.
The survey on attitudes towards exercise and physical activity levels of early pregnant women

Abstract:Objective To learn the attitudes and beliefs of early pregnant women towards exercise during pregnancy and their physical activity levels , so as to provide further guidance on reasonable exercise forms and intensity for pregnant women .Methods A survey conducted by using a unified questionnaire for 330 early pregnant women , who attended the “Class for Early Pregnancy” in Peking University First Hospital from September to October 2013.Results More than 85%of early pregnant women believed exercise during pregnancy benefited for maternal and neonatal , more than 70%believed that exercise was relatively safe during pregnancy , but only 30%of pregnant women were certain for that .More than 75% of early pregnant women were willing to and had confidence to exercise during pregnancy , and more than 90%hoped to get professional advice about the reasonable exercise forms and intensity .The attitudes towards exercise during pregnancy of people who are important to the gravida ,such as husband, parents, parents in law and doctors, had significant correlations with her own attitudes (P <0.05), and the doctors’ attitudes and suggestion were the most important.Doctors’ attitudes towards exercise during pregnancy had some positive correlations with the physical activity levels of early pregnant women ( P<0.05 ) .The main form of physical activity of early pregnant women was low speed of walking , in the physical activity level classification , the percentage of early pregnant women engaged in “low activity”,“medium” and“high” level activities during pregnancy were 53.3%, 39.0% and 7.6% respectively.Conclusion The majority of early pregnant women approve of exercising during pregnancy , but the intensity and activity level were generally low among early pregnant women .The advice and guidance from doctors could change their exercise status to a great extent .

Abstract:Background Excessive gestational weight gain (GWG) poses negative impact on mothers and their children. It is important to understand the modifiable lifestyle factors associated with excessive GWG during pregnancy to guide future public health practice. Aim To investigate the association between physical activity during pregnancy and GWG of Chinese urban pregnant women. Methods A pregnant women cohort was established between 2005 and 2007 in Changzhou, China. Physical activity levels of pregnant women were assessed using pedometer in the 2 nd and 3 rd trimester, respectively. According to step counts, pregnant women were categorized into 4 different physical activity groups: Sedentary, Low Active, Somewhat Active and Active. The pregnant women were followed for eligibility and data collection from the 2 nd trimester to delivery. Multiple linear regression and multiple binary logistic model were applied to determine the association between physical activity and GWG. Results Physical activity levels and GWG of 862 pregnant women were assessed, among them 473 (54.9%) experienced excessive GWG. The adjusted odds ratio (OR) was 0.59 (95%CI: 0.36 ~ 0.95) for excessive GWG in the Active group during the 2 nd trimester and 0.66 (95%CI: 0.43 ~ 1.00) in the Somewhat Active group during the 3 rd trimester, compared with the Sedentary group respectively. In the last two trimesters, the Active group had 1.45 kg less GWG, than the Sedentary group. The ORs of excessive GWG decreased with the increased level of physical activity ( P < 0.05). Conclusion This study suggests that pregnant women being physically active have less weight gain during pregnancy.

Abstract:Background: The extent of the benefits of exercise training during pregnancy on maternal, fetal, and neonatal health outcomes has not been sufficiently addressed. While aerobic exercise training has been determined as safe and efficacious throughout pregnancy, the effects of other training modes on fetal health and development as well as any continued benefits for the neonate, especially with regards to cardiovascular development and function, is largely unknown. In the ENHANCED by Mom study we aim to determine the effects of different modes of exercise training (aerobic, circuit, and resistance) throughout pregnancy on childhood health by controlling individual exercise programs and assessing the effects of each on fetal and neonatal health adaptations.Methods/Design: ENHANCED by mom is a cross sectional comparison study utilizing 3 intervention groups in comparison to a control group. Participants will complete three 5 min warmup + 45 min sessions weekly from 16 weeks to 36 weeks gestation of aerobic, resistance, or circuit training, in comparison to non-exercising controls. Maternal physical measurements will occur every 4 weeks throughout the intervention period. Fetal morphometric and heart measurements will occur at 34 weeks gestation. Neonatal measurements will be acquired at birth and at 1 month, 6 months, and 12 months.Discussion: A better understanding on the effects of exercise training during pregnancy on fetal and neonatal health could have a profound impact on the prevention and development of chronic diseases such as obesity, hypertension, and diabetes.
