Abstract:In this review, we highlight the recent research efforts towards understanding the defect chemistry of titanium dioxide. Particular attention is paid to the synthesis of self-modified TiO2 materials with Ti3+/oxygen vacancies and the favorable effects of these defects on the properties and applications of the obtained materials.
