Abstract:The occurrence, distribution and ecological risk of organophosphate flame retardants (OPFRs) in the full-scale “Cambi® thermal hydrolysis + advanced anaerobic digestion + plate-frame pressure filtration” sludge treatment process in a wastewater treatment plant in Beijing, China were measured. Nine kinds of tri-OPFRs were detected in sludge samples collected at different treatment units in four seasons. ΣOPFRs decreased from 1742.65 ng/g ~ 2579.68 ng/g to 971.48 ng/g~ 1702.22 ng/g. The mass flow of tri-OPFRs decreased by 61.4%, 48.9%, 42.4% and 63.9% in spring, summer, autumn and winter, respectively, which also effectively reduced the corresponding ecological risk. The tri-OPFRs ecological risk of sludge forestland utilization mainly lies in chlorinated tri-OPFRs, especially TCPP and TCEP. No more than 42.20 t/hm2 of sludge could be used continuously for one year to make the ecological risk of tri-OPFRs not exceed the low ecological risk level, indicating that the currently commonly application proportion (1.6~30 t sludge / hm2) will not bring the ecological risk of tri-OPFRs within one year.
