Abstract:Nanometal particles are ubiquitous in the environment, and soil has been considered a transient or terminal sink for them.In this study, a comprehensive and systematic evaluation of CuO NPs and soluble Cu2+(CuSO4) in the soil was carried out in this study by 90-day experiments. The results showed that CuO NPs slowly released copper ions in the soil, and the content of DTPA-extractable Cu reached the maximum on the 42nd day (90.74±3.70 mg·kg-1), which is less than one-half of the CuSO4 (210.19±3.12 mg·kg-1). It was found that DTPA-extractable Cu was the main factor by Pearson correlation analysis and principal component analysis(PCA). Soil basal respiration, microbial biomass carbon(MBC) and phosphoesterase were significantly negatively correlated with DTPA-extractable Cu. Compared with CuO NPs, soluble Cu2+ had more obvious inhibition on soil respiration(22.01%) and MBC(46.44%). The activities of N-acetylglucosaminidase in the copper-added groups increased by 41.14%~51.39%, but the activities of phosphoesterase inhibited by 16.55~36.09%. In this study, the effect of CuO NPs and soluble Cu2+(CuSO4) on microbial and enzyme activities were compared. And the stability of CuO NPs have also been scientifically evaluated. These findings offer insight into the dissolution behavior of CuO NPs in soils and are helpful to evaluate their environmental risks.
