BIM-integrated Design Mode and Process for Building Projects

Abstract:Building Information Modeling（BIM）is being widely employed in the construction industry,particularly in the design stage. However,most research and practices mainly consider the function of BIM in aiding in design,and seldom consider the integration of BIM and design process,particularly in design-build collaboration. To do so,this research analyses the shortcoming of traditional building design and the advantages of BIM for building design,presents the BIM-aided design mode from the design-build perspective,and establishes the BIM-aided design processes for different design stages and the organization of BIM model files. This may benefit the extensive application of BIM in the design of design-build building projects.
