Research on the influence of the built environment of the community on the happiness of the"old drifters"

Abstract:Driven by population mobility and aging, the “old drifters” group is growing. Because the “old drifters” have both the characteristics of old age and mobility, they have more problems in urban life and integration due to the impact of changes in physical space and from the original social relations into a relatively strange environment, which also makes it of great practical significance to understand the psychological health of the “old drifters”. Therefore, this paper takes the community life circle as a unit, through investigating 20 communities in Nanjing, and using logistic regression model to explore its impact on the subjective well-being of “old drifters”. The findings are as follows: the characteristics of behavioral activities, the degree of community integration and the subjective and objective built environment have a significant impact on the subjective well-being of the “old drifters”; the objective built environment such as park green space, pharmacy and middle school density has a positive impact on the subjective well-being of “old drifters”; the “old drifters” have a spatial preference, and their behavior activities are more inclined to large-scale park green space with stronger publicity.
