Elimination and Reconstruction of International Trade Barriers by Digital Trade and China's Response

Abstract:Under the impacts of the global economic downturn and the COVID-19 epidemic, the international trade of most economies is generally shrinking, and trade barriers are strengthened to pursuit values and benefits.On the basis of summarizing the connotations, types and evolution characteristics of trade barriers, this paper analyzes the shock and remodeling effects of digital trade on traditional trade barriers.This paper finds that the deep integration of digital technology and international trade weakens and even eliminates the implementation degree of some traditional trade barriers. At the same time, a new form of trade barrier-digital trade barrier is derived.Its implementation degree is closely related to the application dimension and depth of digital technology, and it reconstructs the international trade barrier system in content and form, which restricts the expansion of the scope and scale of global digital trade.In the process of transforming from a big digital trading country to a strong digital trading country, China should actively build an innovative and open system of digital trade, improve the construction of digital infrastructure, formulate digital trade rules for elevation standards, and calmly deal with trade barriers in the digital trade era.
