Application of Bruner's structuralism education theory in the cultivation of nursing interns'autonomous learning ability

Abstract:Objective To explore the application effect of Bruner’s structuralism education theory in cultivating nursing interns’ autonomous learning ability. Methods A total of 153 nursing interns from internal medicine department of Peking Union Medical College Hospital from August 2021 to February 2022 were selected by convenience sampling and divided into control group（76 cases） and experimental group（77 cases） according to the order of practice time. The control group adopted the traditional teaching method, and the experimental group adopted the teaching method based on Bruner’s structuralism education theory. After 4 weeks of teaching, the autonomous learning ability, student satisfaction, clinical operation, and theoretical test scores of the two groups of nursing interns were evaluated. Results The autonomous learning ability, student satisfaction, clinical operation, and theoretical test scores of nursing interns in the experimental group were better than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant（P＜0.05）. Conclusion Bruner’s structuralism education theory is helpful to improve nursing interns’ autonomous learning ability, student satisfaction, clinical practice, and theoretical test scores, which is worthy of promotion in clinical teaching.
