Abstract:Sawin recently gave an axiomatic characterization of multiple Dirichlet series over the function field $\mathbb{F}_{q}(T)$ and proved their existence by exhibiting the coefficients as trace functions of specific perverse sheaves. However, he did not prove that these series actually converge anywhere, instead treating them as formal power series. In this paper, we prove that these series do converge in a certain region, and moreover that the functions obtained by analytically continuing them satisfy functional equations. For convergence, it suffices to obtain bounds on the coefficients, for which we use the decomposition theorem for perverse sheaves, in combination with the Kontsevich moduli space of stable maps to construct a suitable compactification. For the functional equations, the key identity is a multi-variable generalization of the relationship between a Dirichlet character and its Fourier transform; in the multiple Dirichlet series setting, this uses a density trick for simple perverse sheaves and an explicit formula for intermediate extensions from the complement of a normal crossings divisor.

Abstract:We show that if a Laurent series $f\in\mathbb{C}((t))$ satisfies a particular kind of linear iterative equation, then $f$ is either a rational function or it is differentially transcendental over $\mathbb{C}(t)$. This condition is more precisely stated as follows: We consider $R,b\in \mathbb{C}(t)$ with $R(0)=0$, such that $f(R(t))=f(t)+b(t)$. If either $R'(0)=0$ or $R'(0)$ is a root of unity, then either $f$ is a rational function, or $f$ does not satisfy a polynomial differential equation. More generally a solution of a functional equation of the form $f(R(t))=a(t)f(t)+b(t)$ will be either differentially trascendental or the solution of an inhomogeneous linear differential equation of order $1$ with rational coefficients. We illustrate how to apply these results to deduce the differential transcendence of combinatorial generating functions by considering three examples: the ordinary generating function for a family of complete trees; the Green function for excursions on the Sierpinski graph; and a series related to the enumeration of permutations avoiding the consecutive pattern 1423. The proof strategy is inspired by the Galois theory of functional equations and relies on the property of the dynamics of $R$.

Abstract:A new family of polynomials, called cumulant polynomial sequence, and its extension to the multivariate case is introduced relied on a purely symbolic combinatorial method. The coefficients are cumulants, but depending on what is plugged in the indeterminates, moment se- quences can be recovered as well. The main tool is a formal generalization of random sums, when a not necessarily integer-valued multivariate random index is considered. Applications are given within parameter estimations, L\'evy processes and random matrices and, more generally, problems involving multivariate functions. The connection between exponential models and multivariable Sheffer polynomial sequences offers a different viewpoint in employing the method. Some open problems end the paper.
New Multivariate Dimension Polynomials of Inversive Difference Field Extensions

Abstract:We introduce a new type of reduction of inversive difference polynomials that is associated with a partition of the basic set of automorphisms $\sigma$ and uses a generalization of the concept of effective order of a difference polynomial. Then we develop the corresponding method of characteristic sets and apply it to prove the existence and obtain a method of computation of multivariate dimension polynomials of a new type that describe the transcendence degrees of intermediate fields of finitely generated inversive difference field extensions obtained by adjoining transforms of the generators whose orders with respect to the components of the partition of $\sigma$ are bounded by two sequences of natural numbers. We show that such dimension polynomials carry essentially more invariants (that is, characteristics of the extension that do not depend on the set of its difference generators) than standard (univariate) difference dimension polynomials. We also show how the obtained results can be applied to the equivalence problem for systems of algebraic difference equations.

Multiple Dirichlet series associated with quadrics

Abstract:We define a multiple Dirichlet series associated with quadrics which is the zero locus of a quadratic form. This multiple Dirichlet series is linked to a Shintani zeta function associated with a prehomogeneous vector space. To obtain the functional equations we construct a filtration of the quadratic space and define the parabolic group actions, and then apply a non-abelian Poisson summation formula which sums over all lower dimensional quadrics along with the original quadrics. We show the group of functional equations is isomorphic to a finite Weyl group of type A3.

Generating Functions for Line Bundle Cohomology Dimensions on Complex Projective Varieties

Abstract:This paper explores the possibility of constructing multivariate generating functions for all cohomology dimensions of all holomorphic line bundles on certain complex projective varieties of Fano, Calabi-Yau and general type in various dimensions and Picard numbers. Most of the results are conjectural and rely on explicit cohomology computations. We first propose a generating function for the Euler characteristic of all holomorphic line bundles on complete intersections in products of projective spaces and toric varieties. This generating function is constructed by expanding the Hilbert-Poincare series associated with the coordinate ring of the variety around all possible combinations of zero and infinity and then summing up the resulting contributions with alternating signs. Similar generating functions are proposed for the individual cohomology dimensions of all holomorphic line bundles on certain complete intersections, including examples of Mori and non-Mori dream spaces. Surprisingly, the examples studied indicate that a single generating function encodes both the zeroth and all higher cohomologies upon expansion around different combinations of zero and infinity, raising the question whether such generating functions determine the variety uniquely.

Abstract:We introduce a hypergoemetirc series with two complex variables, which generalizes Appell's, Lauricella's and Kempé de Fériet's hypergeometric series, and study the system of differential equations that it satisfies. We determine the singularities, the rank and the condition for the reducibility of the system. We give complete local solutions of the system at many singular points of the system and solve the connection problem among these local solutions. Under some assumptions, the system is written as a KZ equation. We determine its spectral type in the direction of coordinates as well as simultaneous eigenspace decompositions of residue matrices. The system may or may not be rigid in the sense of N.~Katz viewed as an ordinary differential equation in some direction. We also show that the system is a special case of Gel'fand-Kapranov-Zelevinsky system. From this point of view, we discuss multivariate generalizations.

Abstract:Fourier series multiscale method, a concise and efficient analytical approach for multiscale computation, will be developed out of this series of papers. In the third paper, the analytical analysis of multiscale phenomena inherent in the 2r-th order linear differential equations with constant coefficients and subjected to general boundary conditions is addressed. The limitation of the algebraical polynomial interpolation based composite Fourier series method is first discussed. This leads to a new formulation of the composite Fourier series method, where homogeneous solutions of the differential equations are adopted as interpolation functions. Consequently, the theoretical framework of the Fourier series multiscale method is provided, in which decomposition structures of solutions of the differential equations are specified and implementation schemes for application are detailed. The Fourier series multiscale method has not only made full use of existing achievements of the Fourier series method, but also given prominence to the fundamental position of structural decomposition of solutions of the differential equations, which results in perfect integration of consistency and flexibility of the Fourier series solution.

Abstract:This article consists to give a necessary and sufficient condition of the meromorphic continuity of Dirichlet series defined as $\sum_{x\in \mathbf{N}^n} \frac{a_{x}}{P(x)^s}$, Where $a_{x}$ is a $q$-automatic sequence of $n$ parameters and $P: \mathbf{C}^n \to \mathbf{C}$ a polynomial, such that $P$ does not have zeros on $\mathbf{Q}^{n}_{+}$. And some specific cases of $n=1$ will also be studied in this article as examples to show the possibility to have an holomorphic continuity on the whole complex plane. Some equivalences between infinite products are also built as consequences of these results.

Abstract:We define a hypergeometric series in $m$ variables with $p+(p-1)m$ parameters, which reduces to the generalized hypergeometric series $_pF_{p-1}$ when $m=1$, and to Lauricella's hypergeometric series $F_C$ in $m$ variables when $p=2$. We give a system of hypergeometric differential equations annihilating the series. Under some non-integral conditions on parameters, we give an Euler type integral representation of the series, and linearly independent $p^m$ solutions to this system around a point near to the origin. We show that this system is of rank $p^m$, and determine its singular locus.

Linear Partial Differential Equations in Module of Copolynomials of Several Variables over a Commutative Ring

Abstract:We study the copolynomials of $n$ variables, i.e. $K$-linear mappings from the ring of polynomials $K[x_1,...,x_n]$ into the commutative ring $K$. We prove an existence and uniqueness theorem for a linear differential equation of infinite order which can be considered as an algebraic version of the classical Malgrange-Ehrenpreis theorem for the existence of the fundamental solution of a linear differential operator with constant coefficients. We find the fundamental solutions of linear differential operators of infinite order and show that the unique solution of the corresponding inhomogeneous equation can be represented as a convolution of the fundamental solution of this operator and the right-hand side. We also prove the existence and uniqueness theorem of the Cauchy problem for some linear differential equations in the module of formal power series with copolynomial coefficients.

Abstract:Univariate delta Gončarov polynomials arise when the classical Gončarov interpolation problem in numerical analysis is modified by replacing derivatives with delta operators. When the delta operator under consideration is the backward difference operator, we acquire the univariate difference Gončarov polynomials, which have a combinatorial relation to lattice paths in the plane with a given right boundary. In this paper, we extend several algebraic and analytic properties of univariate difference Gončarov polynomials to the multivariate case. We then establish a combinatorial interpretation of multivariate difference Gončarov polynomials in terms of certain constraints on d-tuples of nondecreasing integer sequences. This motivates a connection between multivariate difference Gončarov polynomials and a higher-dimensional generalized parking function, the U-parking function, from which we derive several enumerative results based on the theory of multivariate delta Gončarov polynomials.

Abstract:This study introduces a new approach to the development of generalized 1-parameter, 2-variable Hermite–Frobenius–Euler polynomials, which are characterized by their generating functions, series definitions and summation formulae. Additionally, the research utilizes a factorization method to establish recurrence relations, shift operators and various differential equations, including differential, integro-differential and partial differential equations. The framework elucidates the fundamental properties of these polynomials by utilizing generating functions, series definitions and summation formulae. The results of the study contribute to the understanding of the properties of these polynomials and their potential applications.

Abstract:Solutions of nonlinear functional equations are generally not expressed as a finite number of combinations and compositions of elementary and known special functions. One of the approaches to study them is, firstly, to find formal solutions (that is, series whose terms are described and ordered in some way but which do not converge apriori) and, secondly, to study the convergence or summability of these formal solutions (the existence and uniqueness of actual solutions with the given asymptotic expansion in a certain domain). In this paper we deal only with the convergence of formal functional series having the form of an infinite sum of power functions with (complex, in general) power exponents and satisfying analytical functional equations of the following three types: a differential, $q$-difference or Mahler equation.

Abstract:We use linear algebraic methods to obtain general results about linear operators on a space of polynomials that we apply to the operators associated with a polynomial sequence by the monomiality property. We show that all such operators are differential operators with polynomial coefficients of finite of infinite order. We consider the monomiality operators associated with several classes of polynomial sequences, such as Appell and Sheffer, and also orthogonal polynomial sequences that include the Meixner, Krawtchouk, Laguerre, Meixner-Pollaczek, and Hermite families.

Abstract:In this contribution, we introduce the multiplicative Jacobi polynomials that arise as one of the solutions of the multiplicative Sturm-Liouville equation \begin{equation*} \frac{d^*}{dx}\left( e^{(1-x^2)\omega(x)}\odot \frac{d^*y}{dx} \right)\oplus \left(e^{ n(n+\alpha+\beta+1)\omega(x)}\odot y\right)=1, \ x\in[-1,1], \end{equation*} where $\omega(x)=(1-x)^{\alpha}(1+x)^{\beta}$ with $\alpha, \beta >-1$ real numbers and $n$ is a non-negative integer number. We extend some properties of classical Jacobi polynomials to the multiplicative case. In particular, we present several properties of multiplicative Legendre polynomials and multiplicative Chebyshev polynomials of first and second kind. We also prove that every real and positive function can be expressed as a multiplicative Jacobi-Fourier series and show that such functions can be approximated by the corresponding partial products of these series. We illustrate the obtained results with some examples.

On an Approach to Finding Sums of Multiple Numerical Series

Abstract:An approach to calculating sums of some types of multiple numerical series is presented. This approach is based on using the formula for the resultant of a polynomial (or an entire function with a finite number of zeros) and an entire function obtained earlier by A.M. Kytmanov and E.K. Myshkina. This formula does not require values of the roots of the functions under study and is a combinatorial expression. By calculating the resultant of a polynomial and an entire function in two different ways, it is possible to obtain a relation for multiple numerical series. For the second way to find the resultant, we use the product of one function at the roots of another. In this article, the sums of some types of multiple numerical series that were previously absent in known reference books are found. They are expressed in terms of well-known special functions such as the Bessel function. This approach to calculating the sums of multiple numerical series differs significantly from the method based on the use of residue integrals associated with a system of equations. The relevance of this problem is determined by the fact that in applied problems, for example, in the equations of chemical kinetics, there are functions and systems of equations consisting of exponential polynomials.

Abstract:Analyzing, developing and exploiting results obtained by Laplace in 1785 on the Fourier-series expansion of the function (1−2αcosθ+α2)−s, we obtain a family of new expansions and generating functions for the Chebyshev polynomials. A relation between the generating functions of the Chebyshev polynomials Tn and the Gegenbauer polynomials Cn(2) is given.

Abstract:Generating series are crucial in enumerative combinatorics, analytic combinatorics, and combinatorics on words. Though it might seem at first view that generating Dirichlet series are less used in these fields than ordinary and exponential generating series, there are many notable papers where they play a fundamental role, as can be seen in particular in the work of Flajolet and several of his co-authors. In this paper, we study Dirichlet series of integers with missing digits or blocks of digits in some integer base $b$, i.e., where the summation ranges over the integers whose expansions form some language strictly included in the set of all words on the alphabet $\{0, 1, \dots, b-1\}$ that do not begin with a $0$. We show how to unify and extend results proved by Nathanson in 2021 and by Köhler and Spilker in 2009. En route, we encounter several sequences from Sloane's On-Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences, as well as some famous $q$-automatic sequences or $q$-regular sequences.

Solutions to the First Order Difference Equations in the Multivariate Difference Field

Abstract:The bivariate difference field provides an algebraic framework for a sequence satisfying a recurrence of order two. Based on this, we focus on sequences satisfying a recurrence of higher order, and consider the multivariate difference field, in which the summation problem could be transformed into solving the first order difference equations. We then show a criterion for deciding whether the difference equation has a rational solution and present an algorithm for computing one rational solution of such a difference equation, if it exists. Moreover we get the rational solution set of such an equation.
