Abstract:This paper discusses a class of second-order derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equations which are used to describe the upper-hybrid oscillation propagation. By establishing a variational problem, applying the potential well argument and the concavity method, we prove that there exists a sharp condition for global existence and blow-up of the solutions to the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. Abstract:We consider a focusing energy-critical Schrödinger equation with subcritical perturbations and address question related to the sharp criterion of global existence and scattering. By analyzing the variational characteristics of this equation, we established two types of invariant flows. Then approximating this equation by the energy-critical nonlinear Schrödinger equations with the same initial data and combining the properties of the invariant flows, we obtain the sharp conditions of global existence for this equation. Moreover, when the solution is globally defined, we prove the scattering.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem of a nonlinear Schrödinger system. Through establishing a sharp weighted vector-valued Gagliardo–Nirenberg’s inequality, we find that the best constant in this inequality can be regarded as the criterion of blowup and global existence of the solutions when p=4/N. And we prove that the solutions of this system will always exist globally if p<4/N. The sharp thresholds for blowup and global existence are also obtained when 4/N≤p<4/(N−2)+.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish two new types of invariant sets for the coupled nonlinear Schrödinger system in the Euclidean n-space Rn and derive two sharp thresholds of blow-up and global existence for its solutions. Some analogous results for the nonlinear Schrödinger system posed on the hyperbolic space Hn and on the standard 2-sphere S2 are also presented. Our arguments and constructions are improvements of some previous works on this direction. At the end, we give some heuristic analysis about the strong instability of the solitary waves. The relation between the two types of thresholds is a very interesting problem, and we leave it as an open problem for further study.
