Abstract:The outbreak of Coronavirus Disease-2019 (COVID-19) caused great psychological distress often with comorbid sleep disorders. Sleep disorders is prevalent in survivors with severe COVID-19 infection, and is associated with their prognosis. Sleep disorders are associated with multiple adverse consequences in severe COVID-19 survivors. For example, the incidence of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in severe survivors ranges from 21% to 28.6%.1 The findings also indicated that acute sleep disorders in those survivors would probably progress to chronic sleep disorders, and sustained sleep disturbance would block the recovery of immune system in COVID-19 survivors.2 This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to estimate the prevalence of sleep disorders in severe COVID-19 cases.
