Abstract:•Cigarette smoking is associated with more severe lung disease in male patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis.•More severe lung lesions in male smoker patients with pulmonary tuberculosis are associated with peripheral NK subsets.•Peripheral blood neutrophils were also associated with severity of lung lesions in smoker patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis.
