Abstract:We consider the quasi-periodic Schrodinger operator with the non-degenerate Gevrey potential for the Diophantine frequency. We prove that if the coupling constant of the potential is large enough, then the spectrum is homogeneous.

Abstract:In the study of the continuity of the Lyapunov exponent for the discrete quasi-periodic Schrodinger operators, there is a pioneering result by Wang-You [ 21 ] that the authors constructed examples whose Lyapunov exponent is discontinuous in the potential with the \begin{document}$ C^0 $\end{document} norm for non-analytic potentials. In this paper, we consider this operators for some Gevrey potential, which is an analytic function having a Gevrey small perturbation, with Diophantine frequency. We prove that in the large coupling regions, the Lyapunov exponent is positive and jointly continuous in all parameters, such as the energy, the frequency and the potential. Note that all analytic functions are also Gevrey ones. Therefore, we also obtain that all of the large analytic potentials are the non-perturbative weak Holder continuous points of the Lyapunov exponent in the Gevrey topology with \begin{document}$ C^0 $\end{document} norm. It is the first result about the continuity in non-analytic potential with this norm and is complementary to Wang-You's result.

Abstract:In this paper, we first prove the strong Birkhoff Ergodic Theorem for subharmonic functions with the irrational shift on the Torus. Then, we apply it to the analytic quasi-periodic Jacobi cocycles and show that for suitable frequency and coupling number, if the Lyapunov exponent of these cocycles is positive at one point, then it is positive on an interval centered at this point and Hölder continuous in \begin{document}$ E $\end{document} on this interval. What's more, if the coupling number of the potential is large, then the Lyapunov exponent is always positive for all irrational frequencies and Hölder continuous in \begin{document}$ E $\end{document} for all finite Liouville frequencies. For the Schrödinger cocycles, a special case of the Jacobi ones, its Lyapunov exponent is also Hölder continuous in the frequency and the lengths of the intervals where the Hölder condition of the Lyapunov exponent holds only depend on the coupling number.

Abstract:We first study the discrete Schrödinger equations with analytic potentials given by a class of transformations. It is shown that if the coupling number is large, then the Lyapunov exponent equals approximately to the logarithm of this coupling number. When the transformation becomes the skew-shift mapping, we prove that the Lyapunov exponent is weak Hölder continuous, and the spectrum satisfies Anderson Localization and contains large intervals. Moreover, all of these conclusions are non-perturbative.

Abstract:We study discrete quasiperiodic Schrödinger operators on ℓ2(Z)$${\ell^2(\mathbb{Z})}$$ with potentials defined by γ-Hölder functions. We prove a general statement that for γ > 1/2 and under the condition of positive Lyapunov exponents, measure of the spectrum at irrational frequencies is the limit of measures of spectra of periodic approximants. An important ingredient in our analysis is a general result on uniformity of convergence from above in the subadditive ergodic theorem for strictly ergodic cocycles.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the spectrum of discrete quasi-periodic Schrödinger operators on $\ell ^{2}(\mathbb{Z})$ with the potentials $v\in C^{k}(\mathbb{T})$ . For sufficiently large $k$ , we show that the Lebesgue measure of the spectrum at irrational frequencies is the limit of the Lebesgue measure of the spectrum of its periodic approximants. This gives a partial answer to the problem proposed in Jitomirskaya and Mavi [Continuity of the measure of the spectrum for quasiperiodic schrödinger operator with rough potentials. Comm. Math. Phys. 325 (2014), 585–601]. Our results are based on a generalization of the rigidity theorem in Avila and Krikorian [Reducibility or non-uniform hyperbolicity for quasiperiodic Schrödinger cocycles. Ann. of Math. (2) 164 (2006), 911–940]; more precisely, we prove that in the $C^{k}$ case, for almost every frequency $\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FC}\in \mathbb{R}\backslash \mathbb{Q}$ and for almost every $E$ , the corresponding quasi-periodic Schrödinger cocycles are either reducible or non-uniformly hyperbolic.

Abstract:We prove that the quasi-periodic Schrödinger operator with a finitely differentiable potential has purely absolutely continuous spectrum for all phases if the frequency is Diophantine and the potential is sufficiently small in the corresponding $C^k$ topology. This is based on a refined quantitative $C^{k,k_0}$ almost reducibility theorem which only requires a quite low initial regularity ``$k>14\tau+2$'' and much of the regularity ``$k_0\leq k-2\tau-2$'' is conserved in the end, where $\tau$ is the Diophantine constant of the frequency.

Abstract:In this article, we investigate the semiclassical version of the wave equation for the discrete Schrödinger operator, $\mathcal{H}_{\hbar,V}:=-\hbar^{-2}\mathcal{L}_{\hbar}+V$ on the lattice $\hbar\mathbb{Z}^{n},$ where $\mathcal{L}_{\hbar}$ is the discrete Laplacian, and $V$ is a non-negative multiplication operator. We prove that $\mathcal{H}_{\hbar,V}$ has a purely discrete spectrum when the potential $V$ satisfies the condition $|V(k)|\to \infty$ as $|k|\to\infty$. We also show that the Cauchy problem with regular coefficients is well-posed in the associated Sobolev type spaces and very weakly well-posed for distributional coefficients. Finally, we recover the classical solution as well as the very weak solution in certain Sobolev type spaces as the limit of the semiclassical parameter $\hbar\to 0$.

Abstract:We show that a generic quasi-periodic Schrödinger operator in $L^2(\mathbb{R})$ has purely singular spectrum. That is, for any minimal translation flow on a finite-dimensional torus, there is a residual set of continuous sampling functions such that for each of these sampling functions, the Schrödinger operator with the resulting potential has empty absolutely continuous spectrum.

We establish some existence results of the homoclinic orbits for weak superlinear cases. To this purpose, we develop new linking theorems in Banach Spaces which provide bounded Palais-Smale sequences.

Abstract:We give a precise and complete description on the spectrum for a class of non-self-adjoint quasi-periodic operators acting on $\ell^2(\mathbb{Z}^d)$ which contains the Sarnak's model as a special case. As a consequence, one can see various interesting spectral phenomena including $\mathscr{P}\mathscr{T}$ symmetric breaking, the non-simply-connected two-dimensional spectrum in this class of operators. Particularly, we provide new examples of non-self-adjoint operator in $\mathscr{l}^{2}(\mathbb{Z})$ whose spectra (actually a two-dimensional subset of $\mathbb{C}$) can not be approximated by the spectra of its finite-interval truncations.

In large disorder, under some suitable conditions on v and a diophantine rotation number, we prove using basically KAM theory that the spectrum of this operator is pure point for all θ∈[0,2π) with exponential decaying eigenfunctions.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish the Anderson localization, strong dynamical localization and the (1/2-) -Hölder continuity of the integrated density of states (IDS) for some multi-dimensional discrete quasi-periodic (QP) Schrödinger operators with asymmetric C^2 -cosine type potentials. We extend both the iteration scheme of Cao-Shi-Zhang (Commun Math Phys 404(1):495–561, 2023) and the interlacing method of Forman and VandenBoom (Localization and Cantor spectrum for quasiperiodic discrete Schrödinger operators with asymmetric, smooth, cosine-like sampling functions. arXiv:2107.05461 , 2021) to handle asymmetric Rellich functions with collapsed gaps.
Band spectrum singularities for Schrödinger operators

Abstract:In this paper, we develop a systematic framework to study the dispersion surfaces of Schrödinger operators $ -\Delta + V$, where the potential $V \in C^\infty(\mathbb{R}^n,\mathbb{R})$ is periodic with respect to a lattice $\Lambda \subset \mathbb{R}^n$ and respects the symmetries of $\Lambda$. Our analysis relies on an abstract result, that expands on a seminal work of Fefferman--Weinstein \cite{feffer12}: if an operator depends analytically on a parameter, then so do its eigenvalues and eigenprojectors away from a discrete set. As an application, we describe the generic structure of some singularities in the band spectrum of Schrödinger operators invariant under the three-dimensional simple, body-centered and face-centered cubic lattices.

Abstract:We consider the Schrödinger operator $H_{\eta W} = -\Delta + \eta W$, self-adjoint in $L^2({\mathbb R}^d)$, $d \geq 1$. Here $\eta$ is a non constant almost periodic function, while $W$ decays slowly and regularly at infinity. We study the asymptotic behaviour of the discrete spectrum of $H_{\eta W}$ near the origin, and due to the irregular decay of $\eta W$, we encounter some non semiclassical phenomena. In particular, $H_{\eta W}$ has less eigenvalues than suggested by the semiclassical intuition.

Abstract:Avila and Jitomirskaya prove that the quasi-periodic Schrödinger operator H_λ v,α,θ has purely absolutely continuous spectrum for α in sub-exponential regime (i.e., β(α)=0) with small λ, if v is real analytic in a strip of real axis. In the present paper, we show that for all α with 0<β(α)<∞, H_λ v,α,θ has purely absolutely continuous spectrum with small λ, if v is real analytic in strip | x|< Cβ, where C is a large absolute constant.
