Abstract:Laser-induced graphene (LIG) technology is a method to manufacture carbon material quickly. However, it is usually limited to the thin in-plane carbonized structure produced on the surface of substrate only, so that the thickness of substrate cannot be fully used in depth. In this work, we put forward a feasible scheme which can substantially thicken the carbonized structure by creatively introducing oxidant to promote the laser ablation. The thickness of obtained laser-induced thickened graphene (LITG) with porous morphology can reach-10 times of the classic material. When the concentration of oxidant is moderate, there are many micropores in the material and the surface area of the material increases by-30 times. The change of functional groups is obvious. Introduced oxidant does not decrease the yield of carbon, but can double it. Furthermore, the specific areal capacitance of assembled microsupercapacitor (MSC) is up to 65.2 mF cm-2 and is nearly 1000 times of the control. The electrochemical impedance of the device is reduced. The device keeps 96% capacitance retention after 10000 cycles at high rates. Profiting from this simple strategy, traditional in-plane laser-induced technology can easily prepare carbon material with high thickness now.
