Abstract:As a hemodynamic disorder caused by twisted ovarian ligaments, ovarian torsion may cause damage or even a loss of gonadal organs, resulting in a decline in ovarian reserve capacity and a lower fertility. With the deeper understanding of the disease, the managements of ovarian torsion in children and adolescents have also changed. And family members pay more and more attention to whether or not operation affects fertility. Early diagnosis and timely operation are vital for protecting the function of ovary and Fallopian tube and preventing serious complications. This review focused on the current status of fertility preservation and preoperative evaluations for managing ovarian torsion in children.
