Abstract:Background The Clubiona zilla-group is a relatively small species group, distributed exclusively in East Asia, with only three species clearly documented so far. New information Clubiona hooda Dong & Zhang, 2016, which was previously placed in the C. trivialis-group, is assigned to the C. zilla-group in the present paper. A new spider of the C. zilla-group from Jiugong Mountain in China is described under the name of C. jiugong sp. nov. Detailed descriptions and photographs of the new species are provided.

Abstract:Clubiona Latreille, 1804, the largest genus in family Clubionidae, currently includes 495 species worldwide with 126 species from China (Li Lin 2016; World Spider Catalog 2018). Due to the high diversity in Clubiona, several subgenera and species-groups have been proposed (Wang et al. 2015). While there is no agreement on the limits of most species-groups of Clubiona (Deeleman-Reinhold 2001), the corticalis-group has been widely considered as putatively monophyletic. The group presents a distinct set of characters (Mikhailov 1995; Deeleman-Reinhold 2001; Liu et al. 2016) and the species composition of the core-group is relatively stable (Mikhailov 1995; Deeleman-Reinhold 2001; Dankittipakul Singtripop 2008; Wu et al. 2015). At least two generic names are available for the corticalis-group, Atalia Thorell, 1887 and Paraclubiona Lohmander, 1944 (Mikhailov 2012). Spiders of the corticalis-group are well studied in China and several new species have been described in recent years (Yu et al. 2012; Zhu et al. 2012; Wang et al. 2015; Wu et al. 2015; Liu et al. 2016; He et al. 2016). Up to now, the Clubiona corticalis-group has more than 28 Chinese species (Wang et al. 2015; Wu et al. 2015; Liu et al. 2016; He et al. 2016; Yu et al. 2017), making it one of the most well known clubionid groups in China. While examining spiders collected from Guizhou Province, China, we came across some specimens from the Clubiona corticalis-group, which are described here as belonging to two new species.

Abstract:Decapod crustaceans referred to the new genus and new species Yongjiacaris zhejiangensis in the infraorder Caridea Dana, 1852, family Palaemonidae Rafinesque, 1814, were discovered at two different localities in China: the C Member of the Moshishan Formation in Chengtian village (Yongjia County, Zhejiang Province) and the Showchang Formation in Dongkengli village, Showchang Town (Jiande County, Zhejiang Province). The crustaceans are associated with plants, conchostracans and insects. Based upon palynomorphs, plants, and conchostracans, the fossil- bearing beds are probably Barremian in age (Lower Cretaceous). It is the second report of freshwater carideans in Mesozoic rocks.

Nearly one-third of Chinese species have been described with single-sex (World Spider Catalog, 2018). Twenty-eight species have been reported from Guizhou Province (Wang et al. 2015; Wu et al. 2015; Li Lin 2016; Yu et al. 2017; Wang et al. 2018; Zhang et al. 2018).

Abstract:Khorata Huber, 2005 contains 52 species distributed in Cambodia, China, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam, out of which about 34 species have been recorded from China. It can be distinguished from all other genera of Pholcidae by the male chelicerae with lateral ledges and the cheliceral apophyses with cuticular ridges or scales. The femur of the male palp features a retrolateral apophysis. The male palp is small, characterised by a prolaterally attached genital bulb that lacks projections, except for the embolus. The carapace exhibits a shallow median groove and the female abdomen shows no posterior pockets.A spider survey conducted in June 2024 from the Jiangxi Qiyunshan National Nature Reserve, Jiangxi, China recorded the genus Khorata for the first time. Based on morphological comparison, one new species was identified and is described here. A detailed description, diagnosis, photographs and distribution map of the new species are provided.

Abstract:A new Cyrtodactylus species, C. laevissp. nov., from the dry-hot valleys near the Yarlung Zangbo River in Re Village, Jindong Countryside, Lang County, Linzhi City, Xizang Autonomous Region, China, is described herein based upon the integrative taxonomic results combining molecular phylogenetic systematics and morphological characteristic comparisons. Our molecular phylogeny was inferred by combining three mitochondrial gene fragments (16S/CO1/ND2), and it indicated a distinct differentiation between the new species and C. tibetanus species complex, with obvious genetic distances (16S 9.9-11.8%/CO1 16.5-18.2%/ND2 16.6-18.5%) detected, supporting its validity. Morphologically, the new species can be easily distinguished from its congers by the following characters: (1) medium size (SVL 48.58-50.92 mm), (2) tubercles on dorsum sparse, (3) tail segments absent and tubercles on tails absent, (4) supralabials 10-12 and infralabials 8-10, (5) interorbital scales between anterior corners of the eyes 28-32, (6) scale rows at midbody 96-98, (7) ventral scales between mental and cloacal slit 145-153, (8) ventral scale rows 41-45, and (9) 4 to 5 white-yellow transverse bands with brown dots and black merges between the nape and sacrum. The description of C. laevissp. nov. increased the total species number of C. tibetanus group to three, and the total Cyrtodactylus species number in Xizang to six and in China to eleven. The new species is currently only known from the type locality with its extremely small populations and needs future surveys to reveal its distribution range, population status, natural history, and mechanisms so that the new species can coexist with Altiphylax medogense.

Abstract:Progonocimicids are one of key representatives from the Middle-Late Jurassic Daohugou biota, the early assemblage of the Yanliao biota. Here we describe a new progonocimicid species, Cicadocoris henanensis sp. nov., from the Middle Jurassic Jiyuan Basin in central China. This not only represents a novel case indicating the abundance of progonocimicids during the Jurassic but also provides additional evidence substantiating the stratigraphic correlation between the Yangshuzhuang Formation in the Jiyuan Basin and the Haifanggou Formation in the Yanliao Region.

Abstract:Giraffaphaenops yangi n. sp. is described from a limestone cave named Shizikou Dadong, Tianlin County, northwestern Guangxi, China. It is the second species of this genus, which is the most morphologically modified in the tribe Trechini in terms of troglobiomorphy. So far, Giraffaphaenops ranges in a small karstic area in northwestern Guangxi. Of the two known species, G. clarkei Deuve, 2002 was recorded from four caves in Leye County, whereas G. yangi n. sp. is known from the only type locality cave in Tianlin County. A distributional map of the genus Giraffaphaenops is also provided. In addition, two females of G. clarkei are recorded from the cave Yanwu Dong, Leye County.

Abstract:A new genus Songius is established and two new species - Songius rugosus from Qixia Mountain and Laoshan Forest Park, Jiangsu, and Tiantangzhai, Dabie Mountain, Anhui, and Songius bicruris from Tiantangzhai - are described. A novel surface structure of the pygidial tergum was observed by scanning electron microscopy. The genus is established on the basis of the distinctive appearance of the modification of the surface structure of the pygidial tergum.

Abstract:A new species of the genus Ligidium, L. jiuzhai, is described. The specimens were collected in Jiuzhai Gully (32.9 degrees N 103.8 degrees E), Sichuan Province, China. The diagnostic characters of the new species are: margin of rounded apex of telson with setules; dactylus of pereopod 7 with 3 long setules and 3 setae; rounded apex of endopod of pleopod 2 with 6 denticles and 1 seta; maxillipedal palp not folded; inner lobe of maxillule with 3 subapical setae.

Abstract:A new two-eyed species of the genus Crossodonthina Yosii (Collembola: Neanuridae) is recorded and described from the Nanling National Forest Park, Ruyuan Yao Autonomous County, Guangdong Province, China. Crossodonthina quadridentata sp. nov. is characterized by 2+2 eyes, labral chaetotaxy formula as 4/4, 2, cephalic chaeta O present, cephalic tubercles Dl, L and So fused together, mandible with 4 basal teeth and 5 fringed rami, and maxilla with two lamellae, the outer lamella apically bifurcated, the inner lamella ciliated. Crossodonthina bidentata Luo & Chen is also recorded for the first time in the Mount Wuyi National Nature Reserve, Fujian Province. The genus Crossodonthina is herein tentatively divided into two species groups. The main differences between the montana and the nipponica groups are listed and discussed, and the importance of the number of eyes in the classification of Neanuridae is stressed.
