Abstract:We introduce $ d-\delta $ systems on differential forms in Eucliean spaces and show the interface vanishing of the solution. This result generalizes previous theorems on stationary and non-stationary Maxwell's equation. Other applications are also given.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish a new infinite-dimensional linking theorem without (PS)-type assumptions. The new theorem needs a weaker linking geometry and produces bounded (PS) sequences. The abstract result will be applied to the study of the existence of solutions of the strongly indefinite partial differential systems. For the first application, we consider the systemΔu=uinΩ,Δv=vinΩ,∂u/∂η=Hv(x,u,v)on∂Ω,∂v/∂η=Hu(x,u,v)on∂Ω,where Ω is a bounded domain in RN with smooth boundary, ∂∂η is the outer normal derivative, H:∂Ω×R×R→R is a positive C1-function. One nontrivial solution is obtained. The second application, we will solve the eigenvalue problem of the systemAv=−f(x,v,w),Bw=βg(x,v,w),β>0,where A, B are self-adjoint operators on L2(Ω), Ω⊂RN is not necessarily bounded; f,g are Carathéodory functions on Ω×R2. We get infinitely many solutions. We deal with asymptotically linear cases for both systems.
Infinite-dimensional port-Hamiltonian systems with a stationary interface

Abstract:We consider two systems of two conservation laws that are defined on complementary spatial intervals and coupled by an interface as a single port-Hamiltonian system. In case of a fixed interface position, we characterize the boundary and interface conditions for which the associated port-Hamiltonian operator generates a contraction semigroup. Furthermore, we present sufficient conditions for the exponential stability of the generated $C_0$-semigroup. The results are illustrated by the example of two acoustic waveguides coupled by an interface consisting of some membrane.

Abstract:By embedding a free function into discrete zero curvature equation, we generalize the original hierarchy of integrable differential-difference equations into a new hierarchy which includes the famous relativistic Toda hierarchy. Infinitely many conservation laws and Darboux transformation for the first nontrivial system in the new hierarchy are constructed with the help of its Lax pair. The exact solutions of the system are generated by applying the obtained Darboux transformation. Finally, the figures of one- and two-soliton solutions with proper parameters are presented to illustrate the structures of soliton solutions.

Abstract:From a proper 2 × 2 discrete isospectral problem, a new differential-difference integrable equation in Lax sense is proposed by a discrete zero curvature equation. The DDKdV (differential-difference DdV equation) proposed by Ohta and Hirota and DDCDGKS (DD Caudrey-Dodd-Gibbon-Kotera-Sawada equation) are rederived. Some other new discrete KdV equations, discrete mKdV equations and discrete high order KdV equations which converge to the corresponding continuous soliton equations in the continuum limit are obtained. Integrable time discretizations of the DDKdV, DDmKdV (differential-difference mKdV equation) and DDHOKdV (differential-difference high order KdV equations) are given.

Abstract:Stochastic interface dynamics serve as mathematical models for diverse time-dependent physical phenomena: the evolution of boundaries between thermodynamic phases, crystal growth, random deposition... Interesting limits arise at large space-time scales: after suitable rescaling, the randomly evolving interface converges to the solution of a deterministic PDE (hydrodynamic limit) and the fluctuation process to a (in general non-Gaussian) limit process. In contrast with the case of $(1+1)$-dimensional models, there are very few mathematical results in dimension $(d+1), d\ge2$. As far as growth models are concerned, the $(2+1)$-dimensional case is particularly interesting: D. Wolf conjectured the existence of two different universality classes (called KPZ and Anisotropic KPZ), with different scaling exponents. Here, we review recent mathematical results on (both reversible and irreversible) dynamics of some $(2+1)$-dimensional discrete interfaces, mostly defined through a mapping to two-dimensional dimer models. In particular, in the irreversible case, we discuss mathematical support and remaining open problems concerning Wolf's conjecture on the relation between the Hessian of the growth velocity on one side, and the universality class of the model on the other.

Abstract:We introduce a notion of duality solution for a single or a system of transport equations in spaces of probability measures reminiscent of the viscosity solution notion for nonlinear parabolic equations. Our notion of solution by duality is, under suitable assumptions, equivalent to gradient flow solutions in case the single/system of equations has this structure. In contrast, we can deal with a quite general system of nonlinear nonlocal, diffusive or not, system of PDEs without any variational structure.

Abstract:We introduce an integrable Hamiltonian system which Lax deforms the Dirac operator D=d+d* on a finite simple graph or compact Riemannian manifold. We show that the nonlinear isospectral deformation always leads to an expansion of the original space, featuring a fast inflationary start. The nonlinear evolution leaves the Laplacian L=D^2 invariant so that linear Schroedinger or wave dynamics is not affected. The expansion has the following effects: a complex structure can develop and the nonlinear quantum mechanics asymptotically becomes the linear relativistic Dirac wave equation u''=Lu. While the later is not aware of the expansion of space and does not see the emerged complex structure, nor the larger non-commutative geometric setup, the nonlinear flow is affected by it. The natural Noether symmetries of quantum mechanics introduced here force to consider space as part of a larger complex geometry. The nonlinear evolution equation is a symmetry of quantum mechanics which still features super-symmetry, but it becomes clear why it is invisible: while the McKean-Singer formulas str(exp(i D(t) t)) = str(exp(-L t))=chi(G) still hold, the super-partners f,Df are orthogonal only at t=0 and become parallel or anti-parallel for |t| to infinity.

Abstract:Roughening of interfaces implies the divergence of the interface width $w$ with the system size $L$. For two-dimensional systems the divergence of $w^2$ is linear in $L$. In the framework of a detailed capillary wave approximation and of statistical field theory we derive an expression for the asymptotic behaviour of $w^2$, which differs from results in the literature. It is confirmed by Monte Carlo simulations.

Abstract:This paper investigates quantitative estimates in elliptic homogenization of non-divergence form with unbounded drift and an interface, which continues the study of the previous work by Hairer and Manson [Ann. Probab. 39(2011) 648-682], where they investigated the limiting long time/large scale behavior of such a process under diffusive rescaling. We determine the effective equation and obtain the size estimates of the gradient of Green functions as well as the optimal (in general) convergence rates. The proof relies on transferring the non-divergence form into the divergence-form with the coefficient matrix decaying exponentially to some (different) periodic matrix on the different sides of the interface first and then investigating this special structure in homogenization of divergence form.

Abstract:We study the Hausdorff dimension of the sets on which the pointwise convergence of the solutions to the fractional Schrödinger equation $e^{it(-\Delta)^\frac m2}f$ fails when $m\in(0,1)$ in one spatial dimension. The pointwise convergence along a non-tangential curve and a set of lines are also considered, where we find different nature from the case when $m\in(1,\infty)$.

The first class we drop the $\Delta_2$-condition of the functions $\tilde{\Phi}_i$($i=1,2$) and assume that $F$ has a double criticality. For this class, we use a linking theorem without the Palais-Smale condition for locally Lipschitz functionals combined with a concentration-compactness lemma for nonreflexive Orlicz-Sobolev space. The second class, we relax the $\Delta_2$-condition of the functions ${\Phi}_i$($i=1,2$). For this class, we consider $F=0$ and $\lambda=1$ and obtain the proof based on a saddle-point theorem of Rabinowitz without the Palais-Smale condition for functionals Frechet differentiable combined with some properties of the weak$^*$ topology.

Abstract:We give a lower bound for the delta invariant of the fundamental divisor of a quasi-smooth weighted hypersurface. As a consequence, we prove K-stability of a large class of quasi-smooth Fano hypersurfaces of index 1 and of all smooth Fano weighted hypersurfaces of index 1 and 2. The proofs are based on the Abban--Zhuang method and on the study of linear systems on flags of weighted hypersurfaces.

Abstract:We study some new dynamical systems where the corresponding piecewise linear flow is neither time reversible nor measure preserving. We create a dissipative system by starting with a finite polysquare translation surface, and then modifying it by including a one-sided barrier on a common vertical edge of two adjacent atomic squares, in the form of a union of finitely many intervals. The line flow in this system partitions the system into a transient set and a recurrent set. We are interested in the geometry of these two sets.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the following quasilinear elliptic systems-Delta mu=f1(u,v)inRN,-Delta mv=f2(u,v)inRN.Here Delta m is the well-known m-Laplacian operator, m>1. Under appropriate conditions on the functions f1 and f2, we prove some Liouville-type nonexistence theorems. The Liouville-type results can be applied to non-cooperative quasilinear Schrodinger-type systems, and we obtain a priori estimates, singularity and decay estimates for the non-negative solutions of the non-cooperative quasilinear Schrodinger-type systems.

Abstract:In this article, the properties of solutions of Hadamard fractional differential equations are investigated on an infinite interval. The equations are subject to integral and discrete boundary conditions. A new proper compactness criterion is introduced in a unique space. By applying the monotone iterative technique, we have obtained two positive solutions. And, an error estimate is also shown at the end. This study innovatively uses a monotonic iterative approach to study Hadamard fractional boundary-value problems containing multiple fractional derivative terms on infinite intervals, and it enriches some of the existing conclusions. Meanwhile, it is potentially of practical significance in the research field of computational fluid dynamics related to blood flow problems and in the direction of the development of viscoelastic fluids.

Abstract:We study the singular limit problem referred to as the fast reaction limit. This problem has been extensively studied when the same reaction term is used in a two-component system. However, the behavior of the solution under different reaction terms remains not yet well understood. In this paper, we will consider the problem where the reaction term is represented by a power term. We prove that the initial interface disappears immediately, and the function converges to a solution that satisfies the heat equation.
