Abstract:With the developing economy and the improving living quality, quantities of municipal solid waste (MSW) generated without improper treatment, which resulted in the wastage of resources and environmental pollution. In order to utilize organic waste in an economic-practical way, sustainable technologies, missions and policies were essential to ensure sustainable economic development. Therefore, circular bio-economy was proposed under this background, which plays an important role in the generation of valuable biological products and sustainable economic development. In recent years, targeted biological technologies are applied to recycle organic waste, obtain products, and collect energy according to the types of organic waste and their own properties at an industrial scale, which is considered as biorefinery. Whereas, there are some challenges in biorefinery in China, which are attributed to limited budgets, infrastructure and maintenance, types of organic waste without classification and models of farming and feeding. Therefore, more efforts in research are essential for improving and making better use of these biological technologies in actual production. Additionally, the policy proposed by government plays an important function in developing biorefinery. To further, for the sake of satisfying the needs of current technological innovations, combining waste biorefinery methods with a new business model to meet stable market demand under the leadership of the China policy, can provide safety, assurance, and the sustainable economic development.
