In this paper, FSEI is further developed for 3D inversion. To avoid the requirement of excessive computer memory when saving boundaries, we propose to establish 3D FSEI in the hybrid time-frequency domain, in which the forward/backward modeling is performed in the time domain while the computation of gradient as well as the step length is performed in the frequency domain. In addition, we also discuss how to determine the parameters of 3D FSEI. To verify its effectiveness, 3D FSEI is applied to synthetic examples. Numerical results show that 3D FSEI can yield reasonable long-wavelength velocity model that can be used as an initial model for conventional 3D FWI to build high-resolution velocity model.
