The carbonate reservoirs are usually irregular fractured-vuggy bodies, and respond as “beaded” reflections in seismic section. The bead-like features are matched with high-yield and stable production wells excellently. Reservoirs with similar strong “beaded” reflections are confirmed with different degrees of lithology filling, some even fully filled, causing the drilling to fail. It is very important to identify the filled beads in fine reservoir development. Previous abnormal geobody identification, based on multi-attributes clustering, is almost infeasible to recognize the filling fractured-vuggy bodies. Inaccurate results often cause tremendous obstacles in oil field development, such as reserves evaluation, development wells deployment and engineering geological integration. In this paper, an unsupervised approach based on the competitive learning theory is introduced to conduct a more precise and distinctive result. The proposed algorithm introduces a new cost function and some parameter learning methods to identify the filling characteristics. The filled fractured-vuggy bodies can be extrracted directly from 3D seismic volume by using this method. Finally, the proposed method is applied on real 3D seismic data in Tarim Basin. The prediction results match well to the drilling, which has valuable reference in similar oil fields.Presentation Date: Tuesday, September 17, 2019Session Start Time: 9:20 AMPresentation Start Time: 9:45 AMLocation: Poster Station 5Presentation Type: PosterKeywords: algorithm, carbonate, fractures, P-wave, statisticsPermalink: https://doi.org/10.1190/segam2019-3214968.1FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited bySeismic Wave Field Anomaly Identification of Ultra-Deep Heterogeneous Fractured-Vuggy Reservoirs: A Case Study in Tarim Basin, China12 December 2021 | Applied Sciences, Vol. 11, No. 24 SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 2019ISSN (print):1052-3812 ISSN (online):1949-4645Copyright: 2019 Pages: 5407 publication data© 2019 Published in electronic format with permission by the Society of Exploration GeophysicistsPublisher:Society of Exploration Geophysicists HistoryPublished Online: 10 Aug 2019 CITATION INFORMATION Xiangwen Li, Li Lei, Xukui Feng, Peiling Ma, Yonglei Liu, Jiaoying Bi, Guangjian Dan, and Yi Zou, (2019), "Automatic filled fractured-vuggy detection using the competitive learning algorithm," SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts : 3369-3373. https://doi.org/10.1190/segam2019-3214968.1 Plain-Language Summary KeywordsalgorithmcarbonatefracturesP-wavestatisticsPDF DownloadLoading ...
