Abstract:Complex cyber-physical network refers to a new generation of complex networks whose normal functioning significantly relies on tight interactions between its physical and cyber components. Many modern critical infrastructures can be appropriately modelled as complex cyber-physical networks. Typical examples of such infrastructures are electrical power grids, WWW, public transportation systems, state financial networks, and the Internet. These critical facilities play important roles in ensuring the stability of society as well as the development of economy. Advances in information and communication technology open opportunities for malicious attackers to launch coordinated attacks on cyber-physical critical facilities in networked infrastructures from any Internet-accessible place. Cybersecurity of complex cyber-physical networks has emerged as a hot topic within this context. In practice, it is also very crucial to understand the interplay between the evolution of underlying network structures and the collective dynamics on these complex networks and consequently to design efficient security control strategies to protect the evolution of these networks. In this paper, cybersecurity of complex cyber-physical networks is first outlined and then some security enhancing techniques,with particular emphasis on safety communications, attack detection and fault-tolerant control, are suggested. Furthermore, a new class of efficient secure control strategies are proposed for guaranteeing the achievement of desirable pinning synchronization behaviors in complex cyber-physical networks against malicious attacks on nodes. The authors hope that this paper motivates to design enhanced security strategies for complex cyber-physical network systems, to realize resilient and secure critical infrastructures.

Abstract:With the organic integration and coordination of computing,communication and control technologies,CPS(Cyber-Physical System) has contributed to the change of power system operation mode and provided a new approach for its intelligent construction.As an important component of cyber-physical power system,the cyber-physical distribution network system must have the functions of real-time control and optimized dispatch when large-scaled distributed new energy resources are connected to the distribution network in the future.On this background,the control architecture of cyber-physical distribution network system is studied.Considering the components and key functions of CPS,the frame structure of cyber-physical distribution network system is designed including the active distribution network and micro-grid technologies.On this basis,aiming at the multi-level and distributed-coupled cooperative control strategy of cyber-physical distribution network system,a complete cooperative control architecture of cyber-physical distribution network system is built,including the distributed physical architecture with sensing,computation technologies and controlled objects and the hierarchy abstract architecture with the internal unity and external interconnectivity.

Abstract:Cyber-physical systems (CPSs) are integrations of information technology and physical systems, which are more and more significant in society. As a typical example of CPSs, smart grids integrate many advanced devices and information technologies to form a safer and more efficient power system. However, interconnection with the cyber network makes the system more complex, so that the robustness assessment of CPSs becomes more difficult. This paper proposes a new CPS model from a complex network perspective. We try to consider the real dynamics of cyber and physical parts and the asymmetric interdependency between them. Simulation results show that coupling with the communication network makes better robustness of power system. But since the influences between the power and communication networks are asymmetric, the system parameters play an important role to determine the robustness of the whole system.

Abstract:Complex cyber-physical networks combine the prominent features of complex networks and cyber-physical systems (CPSs), and the interconnections between the cyber layer and physical layer usually pose significant impacts on its normal operation. Many vital infrastructures, such as electrical power grids, can be effectively modeled as complex cyber-physical networks. Given the growing importance of complex cyber-physical networks, the issue of their cybersecurity has become a significant concern in both industry and academic fields. This survey is focused on some recent developments and methodologies for secure control of complex cyber-physical networks. Besides the single type of cyberattack, hybrid cyberattacks are also surveyed. The examination encompasses both cyber-only hybrid attacks and coordinated cyber-physical attacks that leverage the strengths of both physical and cyber attacks. Then, special focus will be paid to proactive secure control. Reviewing existing defense strategies from topology and control perspectives aims to proactively enhance security. The topological design allows the defender to resist potential attacks in advance, while the reconstruction process can aid in reasonable and practical recovery from unavoidable attacks. In addition, the defense can adopt active switching-based control and moving target defense strategies to reduce stealthiness, increase the cost of attacks, and limit the attack impacts. Finally, conclusions are drawn and some potential research topics are suggested.

Abstract:Cyber-physical systems (CPS) are high-integration systems which integrate computing, communication and physical process. CPS achieves the perception of external environment by means of all kinds of networks and wired/wireless sensors. Also, the system implements real-time control through feedback mechanism. The basic perception features and applications about CPS are described. This paper, oriented to the integration of information and transportation processes, discusses the gateway role of the control instruction information of the information flow, control command, behavioral control utility and behavioral control and the reconstruction of the traffic control system model. Abstract:Cyber-physical systems（CPS） is a system of systems which consists of many subsystems that can stand alone in an individual manner and can be taken as a typical complex network.CPS can be applied in the critical infrastructures such as water supply networks,energy supply systems,and so on.In this paper,we analyze the structure of modern city water supply networks from the view of CPS theory,we use complex network theory to build an undirected and unweighted complex network model for the water supply networks to investigate the structural properties,and present the structure of the water supply networks and detect communities by a spectral analysis of the Laplacian matrix.Then,we analyze the structure and controllability of water supply networks by the structural controllability method.The results show the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed complex network model.

Abstract:A cyber-physical system is an integration of computation, networking, and physical processes. This article introduces a novel physical control framework to integrate various devices to form the lower-level abstraction network. Two relevant protocols within this framework are proposed for information exchange between different network environments. Furthermore, a formal verification method for the proposed protocols is discussed. The model-checking tool SPIN is used to model and formally verify such protocols. The properties of the protocols are expressed using linear temporal logic to enable model-checking. Implementation results are presented to provide a deeper understanding of the proposed protocols.

Abstract:In cyber–physical power systems (CPPSs), system collapse can occur as a result of a failure in a particular component. In this paper, an approach is presented to build the load-capacity model of CPPSs using the concept of electrical betweenness and information entropy, which takes into account real-time node loads and the allocation of power and information flows within CPPSs. By introducing an innovative load redistribution strategy and comparing it with conventional load distribution strategies, the superior effectiveness of the proposed strategy in minimizing system failures and averting system collapses has been demonstrated. The controllability of the system after cascading failures under different coupling strategies and capacity parameters is investigated through the analysis of different information network topologies and network parameters. It was observed that CPPSs constructed using small-world networks, which couple high-degree nodes from the information network to high-betweenness nodes from the power grid, exhibit improved resilience. Furthermore, increasing the capacity parameter of the power network yields more favorable results compared to increasing the capacity parameter of the information network. In addition, our research results are validated using the IEEE 39-node system and the Chinese 132-node system.

Abstract:Cyber-Physical System is a relatively new thing with continuous development nowadays. But there is a lack of universal underlying support platform to integrate the underlying devices and screen the technology details. We introduce a Physical Control Framework to integrating real-world devices to form the lower-level abstraction network with complexity and heterogeneity. Then we propose two relevant protocols within this framework to satisfy the need of controlling over remote devices and exchanging information from sensors. Further, we use the model checking tool SPIN to model and to verify such protocols. Some requirements for the protocols are expressed using linear temporal logic to enable requirement analysis and early detection of inconsistencies.

This monograph provides a comprehensive survey of intelligent tools for analysis and design that take fundamental steps towards achieving resilient operation in CPS. The authors investigate the challenges of achieving reliable control and estimation over networks, particularly in the face of uncertainty and resource constraints. Abstract:To implement the objective of smart grids,it is essential to introduce the state-of-the-art computing,communication and sensing technologies.Traditionally,the theoretical foundation and methodologies of power systems and information systems are independent.Thus,the existing power system analysis and control methods cannot adequately take into account the impacts of the information system.The cyber physical system（CPS） represents a new research area with a focus on integrating physical and information systems so as to build a new and powerful industrial system.Based on CPS and the characteristics of power systems,the concept of a cyber physical power system（CPPS） framework is presented.Several mathematical tools including the differential and algebraic equation set,finite automation,stochastic process and queueing theory are introduced to formulate the steady-state and dynamic models of CPPS.The steady-state and dynamic analysis of information systems is then introduced,and on this basis,the research direction for reliability and security of CPPS is developed.The networked control of CPPS is finally discussed,and new methods based on the delay and data loss compensation are proposed.

Abstract:Congestion control is a process to achieve optimal decision-making and effective control of vehicles through the interaction of vehicular perception and control, and it shows the typical characteristic of cyber physical systems. Based on the physical-world model of Konishi et al., a new control method to suppress the traffic jam is proposed in the feedback cyber physical systems under the open boundary, which considers the effect of safe headway on the traffic system from the perspective of tight conjoining between the transportation cyber system and the transportation physical system. By using the Hurwitz stability criteria and the H∞ norm theory, the condition under which the traffic jam can be well suppressed is analyzed. Comparison between our method and the previous methods is carried out. The simulation results show that the temporal behavior obtained by our method is better than those of the previous control methods, and our control method could be well applied to traffic congestion control in cyber physical systems. The simulation results are consistent with the theoretical analysis.
