Abstract:Commonly, an organizational information system may have various data types and directory formats. It usually employs different metadata formats to represent the documents. Although the metadata system can cover the different formats of documents, there still exist the integration problems in various metadata systems. This may lower the performance of data processing and impede information sharing. Research focuses on the model of using multi‐XML schema to construct an XML system framework. Through a complete hierarchical tree structure definition of inner elements, the proposed model can settle the weakness of traditional object‐oriented languages in information sharing; it can also eliminate the constraints of storage and management among heterogeneous metadata while processing different metadata information.

Abstract:In order to meet the complicated requirements of jewelry enterprise resource management, the paper designed and implemented a distributed management information system. The system adopts a dynamic strategy to handle enterprise resources sharing both horizontally and vertically, including querying, adding, deleting and modifying jewelry information, gathering statistics information, scheduling production plan. The consistency and accuracy of enterprise data are guaranteed by means of centralizing basic data and information. Web application development technology based on Java is used, and the key techniques mainly include adding information dynamically, distributed computing, and real-time information analysis, etc. Data processing mainly uses the Java Persistence API.

Abstract:The paper considers enterprise content management (ECM) issues in global heterogeneous distributed computational environment. Present-day enterprises have accumulated a huge data burden. Manipulating with such a bulk becomes an essential problem, particularly due to its global distribution, heterogeneous and weak-structured character. The conceptual approach to integrated ECM lifecycle support is presented, including overview of formal models, software development methodology and innovative software development tools. Implementation results proved shortening terms and reducing costs of implementation compared to commercial software available.

Abstract:With the mass storage system applications widely used, the metadata management as a part of the system becomes increasingly important. This paper designs a dynamic management system of distributed metadata named LandFile. To achieve the effective metadata distribution, a strategy of dynamic subtree partition based on the load of the metadata servers is presented. The strategy utilizes load balancing algorithms to select some appropriate subtrees, and uses migration strategy to export these subtrees to other metadata servers to manage. LandFile system has a global namespace, and based on distributed architecture, LandFile has good scalability. Finally, the experimental results show the effectiveness of the strategy.

Abstract:The article Fragmentation of XML Documents in this issue is a reprint of our original contribution to the 2003 Brazilian Symposium on Databases [Ma and Schewe 2003]. It is one of our early publications devoted to the development of a sound theory of distribution design for complex-value databases, a notion we use as an umbrella for all kinds of databases with tree-structured objects such as nested relational, object oriented and also XML databases. Our goal was to extend and generalise the known approach by fragmentation and allocation - replication was not considered - for relational databases.

Abstract:Content management systems use various strategies to store and manage information. One of the most usual methods encountered in commercial products is to make use of the file system to store the raw content information, while the associated metadata is kept synchronized in a relational database management system. This strategy has its advantages but we believe it also has significant limitations which should be addressed and eventually solved. In this paper we propose an alternative method of storing and managing content aiming at finding solutions for current limitations both in terms of functional and nonfunctional requirements.

Abstract:Ancient fabrics are of high importance to the modern fabric industry, and have attracted large amounts of amateurs. Therefore, they should be protected properly while accessible. In order to solve the problem, this paper designed and implemented a system to provide services for ancient fabric managers, product designers, system administrators and ancient fabric amateurs. The system is designed and implemented on B/S architecture, with its database built in MySQL. By using SSH framework (Struts2, Spring and Hibernate), the system is going to satisfy the requirements of the four groups of people. Compared to the existing information management systems, the system in this paper focuses specifically on culture relic information management, and is able to manage different kinds of relic information comprehensively. It will be easier for professionals and ordinary people to get in touch with ancient fabrics, and therefore promote the beauty of the culture as well.

Abstract:Metadata make the spatial data more effective and have great benefits in data managing,using and sharing.The method how to design and realize land use metadata management subsystem has been especially discussed.Relationship of metadata inscape is first analyzed,then the module of managing metadata is designed and the process of designing metadata subsystem is analyzed.The XML(Extensible Markup Language) document is used as the way of organizing the content of land us metadata and the new technology XSLT(Extensible StyleSheet Language Transformations) is used to transform the document created by XML.The result is successfully integrated in the system of LanEx.The method that the paper adopted is of typical and general.

Abstract:ABSTRACTMany enterprise systems are developed in C++ language and most of them are standalone. Because the standalone software can not follow the new market environment, reengineering the standalone legacy systems into distributed environment becomes a critical problem. Some methods have been proposed on related topics such as design recovery, the identification of the component, modeling the interfaces of components and components allocation. Up to now, there does not exist a reengineering process for partition distributed environment, which will offer distinct advantages on horizontal scalability and performance over normal distributed solutions. This paper presents a new process to reengineer C++ legacy systems into the J2EE partition distributed environment. The process consists of four steps: translation from C++ to Java code; extraction of components using the cluster technology; modeling component interfaces and partition of the components in J2EE distribute environment. It has been applied to a large equity-trading legacy system which has proved to be successful.

Abstract:An organization’s knowledge on its business processes represents valuable corporate knowledge because it can be used to enhance the performance of these processes. In many organizations, documentation of process knowledge is scattered around various process information sources. Such information fragmentation poses considerable problems if, for example, stakeholders wish to develop a comprehensive understanding of their operations. The existence of efficient techniques to combine and integrate process information from different sources can therefore provide much value to an organization. In this work, we identify the general challenges that must be overcome to develop such techniques. This paper illustrates how these challenges should be and, to some extent, are being met in research. Based on these insights, we present three main frontiers that must be further expanded to successfully counter the fragmentation of process information in organizations.

Abstract:The researchers and developers of DM system always ignore the fact that the development of complicated product is composed of several phases, each of which has its own management demands to documents. In this paper, we present a collaborative DM (document management) system to manage heterogeneous, distributed data of complicated products in the large size enterprises. A concept of library was introduced as the basic logic unit for storage and management of document data in accordance with phase. The difference of operations permitted in each library promised distinct management demands of specific phase. Typically, a product was divided into three libraries: a design library, a controlled library and a product library. Automatic document transfer between libraries was implemented in the charge of workflow. According to the concept of library, there could be one-to-one correspondence between each product and an independent database. In addition, each library operated with an individual, distributed file server for high throughput.

Abstract:Web Content Management System (WCMS) is a significant aspect of E-commerce enterprises, organizations and government portal, which can improve the effectiveness of development, management, and maintenance in Web applications. However, organizations lack the expansibility, compatibility and reusability in developing WCMS for some application fields. In this paper, by analyzing the requirement and module design, basing on cooperative office, the article provides a J2EE-based three-tier architecture technology for the construction of Web Content Management System, which is aim to solve content management and publication, website resources construction, as well as a range of issues such as rights manag ement. Besides, the system can be used effectively and conveniently in maritime and shipping integrated platform website management of Yunnan province in china. In the article, we describe the architecture and the design details of the system.

Abstract:The prototype of a workflow system for the submission of content to a digital object repository is here presented. It is based entirely on open-source standard components and features a service-oriented architecture. The front-end consists of Java Business Process Management (jBPM), Java Server Faces (JSF), and Java Server Pages (JSP). A Fedora Repository and a mySQL data base management system serve as a back-end. The communication between front-end and back-end uses a SOAP minimal binding stub. We describe the design principles and the construction of the prototype and discuss the possibilities and limitations of work ow creation by administrators. Abstract:The effective management of learning information is crucial for e-learning systems in the digitally networked age. E-learning, an emerging new approach to learning enables learners to access sufficient learning information in different systems. Thus, an increasingly important as well as problematic issue is to achieve the exchangeability and interoperability of information. This paper introduces an effective method and information model for managing learning information via standard metadata, and then proposes an Open Education Service Architecture to achieve the interoperability between heterogeneous learning systems. To better illustrate this architecture, we provide a standard compliant Learning Contents Management System to organize and classify the learning information in an e-learning system.

Abstract:A warehouse management system (WMS) is a software application that helps control and manage the day-to-day operations in a warehouse. WMS software guides inventory receiving and put-away, optimizes picking and shipping of orders. This research has the objective to design a warehouse management information system in Hypertext Preprocessor language (PHP). The development methodology used is Rapid Application Development (RAD) with an object-oriented approach while the tool used in design is Unified Modeling Language (UML). Problems in the distributor of plumbing products are the increasingly large amount of stored information resulting in storing information in Excel files that no longer meet the requirements of retrieving and synthesizing information, as well as the storage of goods in the warehouse is disorganized leading to the increasing order processing time, which is one of the reasons of the increase in order delay rate. The solution of this problem focuses on implementing a management information system which helps to store and retrieve goods information (quantity, location,...), thereby reducing order processing time and increasing labor efficiency for businesses.
