Abstract:For modern railway transportation, dynamic moving block train control systems have been well studied to shorten train tracking intervals and increase capacity. In this article, a novel train tracking method based on train-to-train communication is developed for a dynamic moving block train control system to prevent chain collisions when lead trains experience a sudden speed loss. First, a 3D dynamic safe braking model is built to show the train control mode. Second, a multitrain information synchronization method is proposed to ensure the validity of received messages. Finally, a cooperative collision avoidance mechanism is put forward. Simulation experiments are carried out with practical line data, and the effectiveness of the method is verified by a comparative simulation study with two other benchmark case studies. The results show that the proposed approach can successfully prevent chain collisions in a three-train scenario. By ensuring the normal operation of train-to-train communication through high-frequency information exchanges, the described method is able to successfully prevent chain collisions caused by abrupt decelerations on a high-density network.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
This paper attempts to solve the problem of how to shorten the train tracking interval and improve the transportation capacity through the dynamic moving - block train control system based on vehicle - to - vehicle communication in modern railway transportation, especially to prevent the occurrence of chain collisions when the preceding train suddenly decelerates. The paper proposes a three - dimensional dynamic safety braking model and combines the multi - train information synchronization method and the cooperative anti - collision mechanism to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the system. Specifically, the paper focuses on the following points: 1. **Three - Dimensional Dynamic Safety Braking Model**: The paper constructs a three - dimensional dynamic safety braking model to describe the relationship between the braking distance and speed between two tracking trains. This model takes into account the speed, position and braking capacity of the preceding train and can more accurately reflect the safety in the dynamic tracking process. 2. **Multi - Train Information Synchronization Method**: In order to ensure the real - time and effectiveness of the information between trains, the paper proposes a multi - train information synchronization method. This method corrects the time deviation of each train through high - frequency information exchange to ensure that the received data is the latest. 3. **Cooperative Anti - Collision Mechanism**: The paper also proposes a cooperative anti - collision mechanism. Through high - frequency handshaking and environmental monitoring, it can quickly detect communication failures and issue emergency braking commands when abnormalities are detected to prevent the occurrence of chain collisions. Through these methods, the paper aims to improve the safety and transportation capacity of the dynamic moving - block train control system. Especially in high - density networks, it can effectively deal with the situation where the preceding train suddenly decelerates and ensure the safe operation of trains.
