Abstract:Static and dynamic experiments were carried out to study the anti-scale performance of salicylic acid (SA) to phosphate rock flotation waste water. The scale surface chemical properties and crystallizations have been discussed by means of SEM, TEM, XRD, FTIR, Zeta potential and contact angle measurements. The anti-scale mechanisms of SA to calcium sulphate dihydrate (CSD) were studied in detail. The results shown that the growth of calcium sulfate was inhibited by SA and the surface became porous. Deprotonation of SA can interact with the Ca2+ to form electrical double layer. The wettability properties of the scale are greatly improved when the contact angle reduces. The surface tension of CSD of empty and test group is 19.83 mN/m2 and 241.71 mN/m2, respectively. SA as scale inhibitors can significantly inhibit crystallization of CSD.
