Abstract:Immersion corrosion experiments were carried out on anodized 5A06 aluminum in a simulated marine accelerated corrosion environment alloy. The variation in the mechanical properties of anodized 5A06 aluminum alloy with corrosion time was studied by micromorphological observations, corrosion product analysis, mechanical property tests and fracture analysis. Pitting first appeared on the surface of the anodic oxide film in the initial stage of corrosion. After perforation occurred in the corroded area, corrosive medium contacted the aluminum alloy substrate and induced intergranular corrosion. The continuous extension of corrosion cracks weakened the connection between the anodic oxide film and the substrate, and the film failed in the form of physical spalling. The mechanical properties of the samples decreased gradually with an extension of corrosion time. After 840 h of corrosion testing, the yield strength, tensile strength and sample elongation decreased by 11.51%, 14.28% and 27.28%, respectively, and the elongation was affected most significantly by corrosion. The fracture characteristic of the anodized 5A06 aluminum alloy samples showed a transition trend from ductile fracture to ductile and brittle mixed fracture with an extension of corrosion time.
