Abstract:Nitroaromatic compounds (NACs) can lead to various environmental pollution healh problems. In order to effectively recognize and sense NACs, a novel coordination polymers (CPs) with fluorescent characteristic [Zn3(btc)2(tpt)(H2O)2]·4H2O (1) (tpt = tris(4-pyridyl)triazine, H3btc = 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid) has been triumphantly prepared as an fluorescence probe by solvothermal method. 1 possesses remarkable PH stability ranging from 2.0 to 12.0 and is also stable in different pure organic solvents. It should be noted that 1 manifests a fluorescence quenching response against the detection of selectivity and sensitivity towards 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP) in aqueous solution. It also makes analysis on the limit of detection towards TNP, which is as low as 0.94 µM compared with most reported CPs sensors for TNP. Therefore, 1 can become a satisfactory sensor for TNP detection with remarkable selectivity, strong anti-interference and favorable recyclability. In addition, the quenching mechanisms were also discussed. It was supposed that the mechanisms of photoinduced electron transfer (PET) as well as resonance energy transfer (RET) might be the main influencing factors.

Abstract:luminescent two-dimensional zinc-pamoate coordination polymer, [Zn(PAM)(en)] (1) (PAM = 4,4'-methylenebis(3-hydroxy-2-naphthalenecarboxylate), en = 1,2-ethanediamine) has been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. The strong emission of 1 was quenched efficiently by adding trace amounts of 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP), even in the presence of other interfering analytes such as 4-nitrophenol, 2,6-dinitrotoluene, 2,4-dinitrotoluene, nitrobenzene, 1,3-dinitrobenzene, hydroquinone, dimethylbenzene and bromobenzene, which exhibited superior selectivity of 1 for the detection of TNP via a fluorescence quenching mechanism. Similarly, 1 also exhibited unique selectivity and sensitivity toward Cu2+ compared to other metal cations such as Zn2+, Mn2+, Mg2+, K+, Na+, Ni2+, Co2+ and Ca2+. Abstract:In this work, in order to highly selective detection of aromatic nitro-compounds, novel triazine-based covalent organic polymer named TTRZ was designed and synthesized through Schiff base reaction between triazine-containing monomer and terephthalaldehyde, and was applied as the luminescent probe. The as-synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by BET, FTIR, TGA, XRD, SEM and TEM. Owing to the extended π conjugated structure, the TTRZ nanoparticles possessed strong fluorescence intensity, which further facilitates high sensitivity to the aromatic nitro-compounds. Attractively, the Ksv value for 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP) can be reached to 1.15×105 M-1, while the detection limit of TNP was only 27 ppb. The mechanism of quenching effect of TTRZ by TNP was also clarified, which was ascribed to the dynamic quenching, electron and energy transfer. Furthermore, cellulose acetate film that incorporating with TTRZ was prepared for TNP detection. As expect, significant fluorescence quenching was achieved after dropping the TNP solution on the surface of film, suggesting that TTRZ is an excellent candidate for the detection of aromatic nitro-compounds.

Abstract:With flexible large pi-electron-rich bis(pyridinylimidazole) ligand 9,10-bis((2-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl)anthracene (BPIMA) and 4,4 ',4 ''-tricarboxytriphenylamine (H(3)NTA) as the linkers, two novel Zn-II/Cd-II coordination polymers were synthesized under solvent-thermal conditions based on the mixed ligand strategy: [Zn-6(NTA)(4)(BPIMA)(2)] (CP 1), [Cd-3(NTA)(2)BPIMA(H2O)(2)] (CP 2). Crystal structure analysis reveals that the linear trinuclear clusters {Zn-3(COO)(4)O2N4} and {Cd-3(COO)(6)O2N4} are linked by NTA(3-) ligands to form a 2D layered structure and further extended by BPIMA ligands to form an extended 3D network. In addition, CP 1 and CP 2 can be used as highly sensitive and selective multi-response luminescent sensors for the detection of Cr2O72- and 2,4,6-Trinitrophenol (TNP) in aqueous solution through rapid fluorescence quenching response with high quenching efficiency (Ksv) and low limits of detection (LOD). Moreover, the possible fluorescent quenching mechanisms are also further investigated through experimental and quantum chemical calculations, which reveals that the collaborative effects of competitive absorption (CA), fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) and photoinduced electron transfer (PET) processes promote the fluorescence quenching of two CPs.

Abstract:2,4,6-Trinitrophenol (TNP), compared with the other nitro compounds, not only has a strong electron-withdrawing ability, but also has a strong light absorption capacity at a large excitation wavelength. Therefore, the fluorescence material with a large excitation wavelength might be a potential probe for the detection of TNP. Here, by employing the in situ acylation of organic acid with N2H4, two acylhydrazinotetracarboxylate-based coordination polymers [Cd2(HL1) (phen)2(H2O)]·4.5H2O (H5L1 = 5,5′-(1,4-dioxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydrophthalazine-6,7-diyl)bis (oxy)diisophthalic acid; phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) 1 and [Mn2(HL1) (phen)2]·7H2O 2 were obtained. Phen is used to prevent the formation of a dense network and many hydrogen bonds, which might quench any emission of material. As predicted, 1 only possesses a 1-D broad-ribbon structure, whereas 2 just has a 1-D tube-like structure. And both are found to emit the yellow light, corresponding to the charge transfer from benzene ring moiety to acylhydrazine ring moiety. It means that the acylation changes thoroughly the photoluminescence behavior of organic ligand. Based on their good photoluminescence properties, the sensing ability of both towards TNP was investigated. It is turned out that 1 is not an ideal sensor, even though it can also sense TNP. However, 2 can be considered as an excellent sensor for the detection of TNP. The emission of 2 is almost completely quenched by TNP, while only 20% quenching is observed for the potential interfering analyte 4-nitroaniline (4-NA). The related sensing mechanism is discussed in details.

Abstract:Two new Zn(II) coordination polymers, namely, {[Zn 2 (L)(4,4′-bip) 2 ] ·4H 2 O} n ( 1 ) {[Zn (H 2 L) (1,2-die)] · H 2 O} n ( 2 ) [H 4 L = 5, 5′-(ethane-1, 2-diyl) diisophthalic acid, 4, 4′-bip = 4, 4′ - bis (1-imidazolyl) biphenyl , 1, 2-die = 1,2-di(pyridin-4-yl)ethene] have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, IR spectra and fluorescent analysis. Coordination polymers 1 and 2 are 2D network structures. They both have 3D supramolecular structures based on the interspersion of 2D networks. They can detect 2, 4, 6-trinitrophenol (TNP), tetracycline (TET) and fluazinam (FLU) by fluorescence quenching. And the possible reasons for the quenching of TNP, TET, and FLU were discussed in detail, which may be energy resonance transfer. These new zinc coordination polymers could be used multifunctional sensors on NACs, antibiotics and pesticides in the future. In addition, the results of fluorescence sensing experiments show that Zn(II) coordination polymers composed of different auxiliary N donors have significant influence on the detection limits.

Abstract:Two new 1D chain luminescence metal-organic coordination polymers [Zn(H2BBP)(BDC)](n) (1) and {[Cd-2 (H2BBP)(2)(BDC)(2)]center dot 3H(2)O}(n) (2) were prepared by hydrothermal method using the rigid 2,6-bis(benzimidazolyl)pyridine (H2BBP) and ancillary ligand terephthalic acid (BDC) as the ligands. The metal ion in compound 1 was coordinated with the carboxyl group of the BDC ligand by the monodentate mode, while the metal ion in the compound 2 was monodentate-bidentate heterozygous coordination, which results in the different angles of 1D zigzag chain in compound 1 and compound 2. 4-Nitrophenol (4-NP) detection of compounds 1 and 2 was carried out by fluorescence spectroscopy. The results show that 4-NP has strong fluorescence quenching effect on compounds 1 and 2, and the detection limit of compound 1 could be as low as 30.96 mu g.L-1. CCDC: 1906736, 1; 1906737, 2.

Abstract:A new fluorescent polyimide covalent organic framework (PI-COF) has been successfully synthesized through solvothermal route using tetra(4-aminophenyl) porphyrin and perylenetracarboxylic dianhydride, which possesses porous crystalline and excellent thermal stability (>500 °C). Furthermore, few-layered PI covalent organic nanosheets (PI-CONs) can be easily obtained from the fluorescent PI-COF through a facile liquid phase exfoliation approach, which were confirmed by atomic force microscopy and transmission electron microscopy analysis. It is interesting that the fluorescent intensity of PI-CONs is obviously enhanced relative to that of PI-COF. The PI-CONs have been successfully utilized as an efficient fluorescent probe for the highly sensitive and selective detection of 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP). The mechanism might be attributed to the combination of electron transfer and inner filter effect based on DFT calculations and spectral overlap data. The system exhibits a good linear response toward TNP over the range from 0.5 to 10 μM with a detection limit of 0.25 μM.
A Sensitive and Selective Fluorescent Sensor for 2,4,6-Trinitrophenol Detection Based on the Composite Material of Magnetic Covalent Organic Frameworks, Molecularly Imprinted Polymers and Carbon Dots

Abstract:An efficient and rapid fluorescent sensor was developed for the sensitive and selective detection of an environmental pollutant, 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP). The fluorescent sensor based composite material was composed of magnetic covalent organic frameworks (MCOFs), molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) and carbon dots (CDs). MCOFs, MIPs and CDs were applied as supporting materials and sorbents, selective sorbents and fluorescent sensor element, respectively. Further, the composite material (MCOFs@MIPs@CDs) was characterized by SEM, TEM, EDS, FT-IR, Zeta potentiometric analysis, XRD, TGA, VSM and the nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherms. The MCOFs@MIPs@CDs demonstrate good fluorescence properties and stability. When applied for the sensitive detection of TNP, the composite material exhibits good sensitivity for TNP with a LOD of 100 pM, a high imprinting factor of 8.4 (in comparison with MCOFs@NIPs@CDs) and shorter detection time (within 1 min). Moreover, the results of selective experiment further proof that MCOFs@MIPs@CDs have high selectivity to TNP. Finally, the MCOFs@MIPs@CDs based fluorescent method was used to detect TNP in real water samples, and the recoveries (range from 88.7% to 103.4%) demonstrate that the method has the great potential application in the environmental monitoring and evaluation fields.

Abstract:A Zn(II) coordination polymer [Zn(L) (H2O)2]n (1, 1-Zn) (H2L = 5-(pyrazin-2-yl)isophthalic acid) was synthesized through hydrothermal synthesis and systematically characterized. 1 is a three-dimensional (3D) framework with an uninodal 3-connected bto topology. Interesting, two helical chains and a zigzag chain are grouped together to form a 3D framework of 1. Moreover, 1 shows good chemical stability towards common organic solvents and high hydrothermal stability. The suspension of 1 shows good luminescence performance in water. Further luminescence experiments display that 1 shows high sensitivity and selectivity for sensing Fe3+ ion and TNP (2,4,6-trinitrophenol) in aqueous media. The highest quenching constants (K sv) and the lower the limits of detection (LODs) are about 1.7 × 104 M−1 and 0.44 μM for Fe3+, and 3.8 × 104 M−1 and 0.19 μM for TNP, respectively. In addition, the possible luminescence sensing mechanisms were carefully investigated by PXRD, IR, XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy), and UV spectroscopy. The results demonstrate that 1 can be used as a bifunctional luminescent probe for sensing Fe3+ ion and TNP (2,4,6-trinitrophenol) in aqueous media.

Abstract:A full account of our studies of 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP) sensing is provided. A series of chemosensors with a variety of aromatic chromophores for specific recognition of TNP has been designed and then realized through the fluorescence "on/off" mechanism. These chemosensors demonstrated highly selective, sensitive, and fluorescent quenching of TNP with remarkable visual changes through the intramolecular charge-transfer (ICT) process. Their host-guest interactions were investigated by (1)H NMR spectroscopic titrations and their corresponding co-crystal structures, which showed that the 1:1 host-guest complexes were formed by multiple hydrogen-bond interactions in solution or in the solid state. The origins of the significant affinity demonstrated during the fluorescence recognition process were further disclosed through DFT calculations of corresponding compounds.

Abstract:In order to obtain high selectivity and high quenching efficiency fluorescent sensors for 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP), a ligand [5-(diethylamino)-2-((quinolin-8-ylimino)methyl)phenol hydrochloride, H2LCl] was obtained by the condensation of 4-(diethylamino)salicylaldehyde and 8-aminoquinoline in the present of HCl; and two Zn(II) complexes, namely [Zn2(μ2-L)(μ2-CH3COO)2Cl] (1) and [Zn2(μ2-L)2(NO3)2] (2), were also prepared via the reaction of H2LCl with Zn(AcO)2·2H2O or Zn(NO3)2·6H2O. 1 (in chloroform) and 2 (in methanol) showed strong emission centered at 498nm and 540nm respectively, and both of them displayed superior selectivity and high quenching efficiency to TNP among other nitroaromatics and analogues (i.e., 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene, phenol, nitrobenzene, o-nitrophenol, p-nitrotoluene, m-nitrotoluene, and salicylic acid). 6 equ. of TNP made 92% fluorescence quenching of 1, and 8 equ. of TNP induced 85% quenching of 2. The detection limits for TNP were found to be 0.154ppm of 1 and 1.01ppm of 2.

Abstract:A water-stable ZnII-based coordination polymer (CP) with excellent photophysical behavior, namely [Zn2L(atez)(H2O)2] (compound 1; H3L = 4-(2′,3′-dicarboxylphenoxy); atez = 5-aminotetrazole), was successfully prepared by the solvothermal reaction of Zn ions with a π-conjugated and semi-rigid multicarboxylate ligand H3L in the presence of N-containing linker atez. Compound 1 displays a hierarchically pillared three-dimensional (3D) (3,4,5)-connected (4·62) (42·64) (43·64·83) net which is based on two-dimensional (2D) multicarboxylate- ZnII layers strutted by the atez ligands. Sensing investigations of compound 1 reveal that this material can selectively and sensitively detect nitroaromatic compounds in water suspension through fluorescence quenching effect. In particular, it is worth noting that it shows highly specific detection of nitrobenzene (NB) and 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP) with remarkable quenching constants (KSV = 7.5×104 M-1 for NB and KSV = 1.9×105 M-1 for TNP) and low limit of detection (LOD = 0.93 μM for NB and LOD = 0.36 μM for TNP). Investigations reveal that the probable mechanisms for such sensing processes are the concurrent presence of fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) as well as photoinduced electron transfer (PET) between the CP and nitroaromatic molecules. This work not only offers an effective route to improve the application of fluorescent CPs but also provide one novel probable fluorescence probe for nitroaromatic compounds.

Abstract:A luminescent cyclic binuclear zinc–pamoate complex, [Zn2(PAM)2(1,3-PDA)2] (1), has been synthesized by self-assembly of Zn(II) ions, 4,4′-methylenebis(3-hydroxy-2-naphthalenecarboxylic acid) (H2PAM) and 1,3-propanediamine (1,3-PDA) under hydrothermal condition and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. In 1, two Zn2+ ions are bridged by two PAM ligands to form a 24-membered ring binuclear structure. The emission of 1 could be quenched efficiently and selectively by 2,4,6-trinitrophenol(TNP), indicating that 1 can serve as a selective chemosensor for the detection of TNP via a fluorescence quenching mechanism.

In virtue of containing rich nitrogen atoms in their porous frameworks, the obtained TTPA, TTDATA, and TTMDATA possess good fluorescence sensing property for o‐nitrophenol (o‐NP) with high quenching coefficients of 1.54 × 104, 1.32 × 104, 1.33 × 103 L mol−1 and low limits of detection (LODs) of 2.44 × 10−9, 1.14 × 10−11, and 1.35 × 10−8 mol L−1, respectively. The fluorescent quenching mechanism of TTPA for selective sensing o‐NP is the photo‐induced charge‐transfer mechanism. However, the fluorescent quenching mechanisms of TTDATA and TTMDATA for selective sensing o‐NP have both the photo‐induced charge‐transfer mechanism and the resonant energy transfer mechanism.

Abstract:This work reports a new luminescent metal−organic framework Material {[Cd3(BPDPE)3(suc)(HCOO)2(H2O)2]·(NO3)2}n (1), which was synthesized by 4,4-dipyridyldiphenyl ether (BPDPE) and succinic acid (suc) under solvothermal conditions. It is initially the 2D network constructed by succinic acid, and further connected by BPDPE forming 3D cationic framework with free nitrate anions. It is worthy noting that complex 1 exhibits excellent structural stability in the pH range of 2–12. The detection of NACs demonstrates that the complex could be acted as a functional probe material for sensing 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP) with high sensitivity and selectivity, the detection limit (LOD) for TNP was up to 1.52 × 10−7 M. Further more, the probable detect mechanisms were studied both experiments and calculations.

Abstract:2,4,6-Trinitrophenol (TNP) is an important chemical and widely applied in industry. However, on account of its high toxicity, flammability and explosive nature, just trace amounts of TNP may cause potential threats to ecosystem and human security, so it is significant to establish a rapid and reliable method for the detection of TNP. Herein, a novel amphiphilic fluorescent probe TPE-CD was successfully designed and synthesized by the functionalization of hydrophilic β-cyclodextrin with a hydrophobic Aggregation Induced Emission (AIE) fluorophore. Moreover, spherical nanoparticles formed in H2O/CH3OH solution with the increase of water fraction (fw). Fluorescence titration of TNP indicated that TPE-CD exhibited excellent sensitivity to TNP with LOD = 0.31 μmol L−1 and Ksv = 3.06×104 L mol−1. The introduced β-cyclodextrin remarkably enhanced the ability of TPE-CD rather than its precursor TPE-COOH to capture TNP molecules through forming spherical nanoparticles, improving the fluorescence quenching efficiency. Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations and experimental results confirmed that the response mechanism of TPE-CD to TNP involved Photoinduced Electron Transfer (PET) and Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) with PET being predominant. Furthermore, the probe showed excellent selectivity and anti-interference to aqueous TNP samples. Moreover, the test strips prepared by soaking in TPE-CD solution also exhibited good sensitivity to TNP, providing a convenient, rapid and reliable method for the detection of TNP.
