Abstract:This paper addresses the electromagnetic relationship and the electromagnetic model, which includes voltage equations, flux linkage equations, and electro-magnetic torque expressions, of the two-pole permanent magnetic spherical motor. The model shows that the electro-magnetic coupling relationship inside the two-pole PM spherical motor is simple and that the torque of the motor is easy to control. The paper also analyzes the magnetic field of the motor by 3D FEM method. The result confirms the sine distribution of the field and the modeling method.

Abstract:The paper presents the control method of a type of permanent magnet spherical stepper motor being capable of three-degree-of-freedom motion. The structural characteristics and the motion of the spherical stepper are analyzed, and then a weighted graph which consists of all possible stable positions of the spherical stepper is given according to the arrangement and combination of permanent magnets and windings. The commuting strategy can be attained and therefore the spherical motor can be controlled to achieve the expected trajectory according to the algorithm of the weighted graph.

Abstract:The model of magnetic field inside the permanent magnetic spherical stepper is developed using integral equation method (IEM) and discrete expressions on field distribution are also derived. Abstract:On the basis of the current sheet model, a new analytical solution for permanent magnet (PM) bearings is developed. Compared with analytical methods based on the coupling energy model and the magnetic dipole model, the proposed one is more physically intuitive and convenient for engineering designers. According to the analytical model, the thrust characteristics of a novel PM thrust bearing is studied and verified by finite element analysis (FEA). In the proposed thrust bearing configuration, the rotor is composed of stacked PM rings with alternative axial magnetization directions, and the stator with alternative radial magnetization directions while copper rings are used to separate adjacent PM rings. A prototype PM thrust bearing with the proposed configuration is designed and fabricated. The performances of the PM thrust bearing are experimentally validated. It is shown that the calculation accuracy of the presented analytical solution is satisfying.

Abstract:Through building single magnet model with ANSYS,according to the high-speed maglev vehicle in Shanghai,the magnetic field distribution under standard working conditions and that how the design parameters changing affected the levitation force were analyzed.The academic basis for optimal design of magnet and stability of levitation control were offered.Finally,by the analysis of the combining magnets model,the accuracy of the analysis of the single magnet model was proved.

Abstract:A linear-rotary permanent magnet motor (LRPMM) is investigated, which can produce rotary, linear, and helical motion of the mover. It consists of a primary with stator core having circumferential and axial slots and two orthogonal rotary and linear windings, and a secondary with alternatingly arranged permanent magnets and mover core. First, 3-D finite element models of LRPMM are established to investigate and optimize the detent force during linear motion. Second, the electromagnetic performances under different degrees of freedom are calculated and analyzed. Finally, the force performance of LRPMM under helical motion is mainly focused since the linear magnetic field and rotary magnetic field exist in same iron core. After the impact of the shared magnetic circuit is analyzed, it is shown that the iron core has saturation problem, and then the force performance is lowered. The results can provide reference for further optimization of magnetic circuit design.

Abstract:Based on the operation principle of inset permanent magnet type bearingless motor and the magnetic energy approach, a relatively accurate analytical expression of the magnetic levitation force was proposed in this paper with the rotor saliency effect and the eccentricity in the location of stator and rotor taking into consideration. As the parameter of the levitation force model is the key to calculate the suspension force and to realize the stable suspension operation, the extraction of the key parameter was studied in detail and realized by the finite element method. Moreover, the control system of the inset permanent magnet type BLM was developed based on the parameters extracted, and then, the simulation result of the suspension operation validated the accuracy of the parameter extraction method

Abstract:This paper presents an analytical method for reconstructing the magnetic flux density (MFD) field around the rotor of a permanent magnet spherical motor (PMSM) using measured MFD on its surface, and for formulating the motor torque according to Lorentz's law. When reconstructing the MFD, the solutions to Laplace's equation of a magnetic scalar potential with measured boundary conditions (BCs) in the current-free space around the rotor are obtained using the method of separation of variables. The models yield precise MFD and torque solutions in closed form, and yet require no information on the magnetic structures and properties of the rotor. This advantage provides a good basis for model identification, calibration as well as for control of an electromagnetic actuator. Both the magnetic field and torque models have been validated by comparing against published experimental data, which show excellent agreement.

Abstract:This paper investigates three kinds of permanent-magnet arrays used in planar motors with polarity centers distributed in the lattices of a matrix. The magnetic field of every kind of magnet array is analyzed by analytical methods. First, we give a Laplace equation of magnetic scalar potential and a series of boundary conditions. Then, we derive the analytical expressions of magnet field strength and magnet flux density in the air gap of each kind of magnet array by the method of separation of variables. Finally, we compare the three types of magnet arrays on the basis of the analytical solutions.

Abstract:Ultra-high-speed permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) usually use bipolar rotors with ring permanent magnets (PMs) or cylindrical PMs which are magnetised in parallel. The stator of the motor is first simplified as a slotless stator, and an analytical solution to the flux density distribution in the motor is obtained by solving the Laplace's equation in the regions of PM and airgap. Then, by introducing the two-dimensional relative permeance function, the slotting effects on the radial flux density are also included. Finally, rotors with different types of PMs are studied by the presented analytical method and the finite-element analysis. In addition, experiments are also performed to verify the results of the analysis. This analytical solution can be used to determine the open-circuit flux density of PMSMs which have a parallel magnetised rotor with cylindrical or ring-type PM. With the analytical solution, the dimensionless magnetic flux density in the airgap could also be derived and can be used to calculate the sizes of different rotors with the same airgap flux density easily.

Abstract:Accurate analysis of the magnetic field parameters is important to the design of permanent magnet three-phase synchronous servo motors. This paper describes the analysis of the magnetic fields in a permanent magnet synchronous servo motor. The stator windings are concentrated coils wound around a single tooth with a slots/poles ratio of 9/6, with cylindrical surface-mounted poles. The magnetic field distributions are given with a numerical method to calculate the back EMF for no load conditions. The stator inductance was also analyzed. The calculated values agree well with measured values.

Abstract:Accurate information of rotor permanent magnet field is needed in permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) control, but this information is variable under demagnetization conditions, such as high temperature or peak current. Nonsinusoidal flux density distribution caused by demagnetization induces to torque ripple, which degrades the PMSM drive performance. To estimate flux magnitude, a Kalman filter is built by using stator current and PM flux as state variables. The estimation method can accurately track the diversity of permanent flux and is robust to motorspsila parameters. The flux linkage is represented by means of Fourier series expansion, and the observe method is used for the online detection demagnetization of PMSM. Experimental evaluations of flux linkage are carried out on a DSP-controlled PMSM drive platform. Test results obtained demonstrate the effect of the proposed method.

Abstract:An iron-less single side permanent magnetic linear motor structure is presented, and two-dimensional analytical formulae for its magnetic field are deduced to design the types of magnetic arrays, the thickness of permanent magnet, and the duty ratio of magnet arrays, etc. With certain design parameters, conventional arrays are used instead of a piecewise Halbach arrays, and the machining and assembling of the motor are greatly simplified. Calculation results coincide with that of ANSYS. The analytical formulae can be used in designing cored linear motors by modifying boundary conditions. A linear motor driven bench with a single degree of freedom is realized, where the travel reaches 27 mm, the mass of the moving parts is 1.4 kg, and the maximum acceleration is 11.5 m/s 2 .

Abstract:Accurate magnetic field calculation is the premise of electromagnetic performance prediction. Conventional subdomain (SD) techniques assume that the iron's relative permeability is infinite, leading to falsely overestimated flux density. We propose an accurate magnetic field analytical model for permanent magnet (PM) in-wheel machines considering iron's magnetization nonlinearity and saturation. Specifically, according to the excitation source and topology, the entire solution domain of the machine is divided into sub-regions such as stator slots/teeth, stator slot-openings/tooth-tips, air-gap, and rotor slots/teeth, etc. Poisson's or Laplace's magnetic vector potential (MVP) equations are solved using Maxwell's electromagnetic theory and complex Fourier series methods in each sub-region. Specifically, in our approach, The Cauchy product theorem addresses the discontinuous magnetic permeability change at the slot and tooth interface. The machine's magnetic saturation effect is considered by combining the actual magnetization characteristics of iron with an iterative algorithm. The general solution for the MVP is solved using the boundary conditions between adjacent subregions. Subsequently, electromagnetic properties such as air-gap flux density, back electromotive force (EMF), and electromagnetic torque are obtained. The accuracy of the analytical model is verified by finite element analysis (FEA) and prototype tests, which proved that the proposed analytical model can consider the iron's nonlinearity and the magnetic saturation. In addition, the inaccurate overestimation of electromagnetic torque and air-gap magnetic flux density by the conventional SD techniques has also been proven.

Abstract:A two-degrees-of-freedom internal model control is adopted for torque control of permanent magnet synchronous motor used in electric power steering system. By adjusting control parameters, the tracking performance and the disturbance and noise suppression behaviors can be defined separately. Abstract:This article proposes a conceptual model of a new type permanent magnet 3-degree-of-freedom motor. Its structure consists of an internal rotation module and a peripheral deflection module. It can be driven independently to achieve high-speed rotation and precise tilting of the motor. The 3-degree-of-freedom movement of the motor in space is achieved by the synchronous operation of the rotation and the deflection. In order to explore the loss problem caused by the temperature rise problem in the actual operation of the motor, the eddy current loss and core loss inside the permanent magnet of the motor are analyzed by theoretical formula and finite element method, respectively. Based on the static magnetic field, the gas flux density of two types of rotor permanent magnets in different coordinate systems is analyzed. The motor’s rotation and deflection torque characteristics are calculated using the principle of virtual displacement method. Using the auxiliary technology of the virtual prototype, according to the actual situation of the motor, the corresponding motion hinges and driving forms are summarized, and the control strategies of rotation, deflection, and rotation and deflection simultaneously are planned. The trajectory of the motor is described by observing the selected points. For the motor from product design to prototype testing and to the final processing assembly, a solid theoretical foundation is laid for the proposed work.
