Abstract:The dynamic behavior and frequency response of non-linear systemsare the subject of several recent investigations. Most of the priorstudies employed harmonic balance or Galerkin schemes or directnumerical integration. Such techniques are somewhat limited in theirability to predict all of the dynamic characteristics. 　　The fundamental response of a non-linear non-autonomous system isperiodic, some motions such as quasi-periodic, jump, period-doublingand chaotic motion, can bifurcate from periodic motion when systemparameter is changed. Therefore, it is necessary to get the methods ofdetermining periodic solution when system parameter is changed. 　　This paper proposed two efficient methods to solve non-linear vibrationperiodic solution. One is Poincare mapping method in combination withlocally parameterized continuation scheme, based on RKF algorithm. Theother is based on Newmark algorithm. Both of thesemethods can getfrequency response when system parameter is changed. The first methodcan be used in differential equations in state form. It is suitable forthe dynamic analysis of complicated system, such as non-linear systemwith parameter excitation and piecewise linear. But it has limitationsin its application to non-linear system of very large dimension. Thesecond method can directly used in dynamic system equations. It issuitable for multi-degree-of-freedom system. Because thesemethods have a unique effect on handling singularity, we canconveniently get the dynamic behavior within the variation of wholesystem parameter by use of them. Finally, two numerical examples aregiven by the proposed methods.
