Abstract:Sr1-xLaxFe12-yCoyO19 is prepared to characteristic Sr Hexaferrite Nanoparticles and study their structure and phase-varying by sol-gel method and by means of X-ray diffraction(XRD),vibrating sample magnetometer and LCD bridge with computer aided system.The experimental results show that the samples are steady M-phase when temperature is beyond 850℃,and magnetic disaccommodation can be obviously found in the substituted Sr hexaferrite nanoparticles.So,this behaviour shows that the magnetic Co2+ ionic go into the crystal of hexagonal structure.

Abstract:Crystal structure, magnetic and electrical-transport properties of the rare-earth-doped compounds (Sr1.85Ln0.15)FeMoO6 (Ln=Sr, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm and Eu) have been investigated by means of X-ray diffraction, magnetic and electric measurements. All the samples are single phase and belong to the I4/m space group. Due to the competing contributions of electron doping and steric effects, the unit-cell volume of the doped compounds changes slightly and does not vary systematically with the ionic radius of the rare-earth ions. The temperature dependence of the magnetization of (Sr1.85Ln0.15)FeMoO6 indicates that the Curie temperature of the doped compounds has increased upon doping, except for the Eu-doped compound. The saturation magnetization of the compounds at 5K cannot be explained simply by considering the ferrimagnetic arrangement of the magnetic sublattices of Fe and Mo because of the magnetic contribution of rare-earth ions. However, the saturation magnetization at 100K of the doped compounds exhibits a linear decrease with the increase of the anti-site defect concentration. Comparison of the saturation magnetization of the compounds at 5 and 100K suggests that at 5K the magnetic moments of Ce, Pr, Nd and Sm align parallel with that of Fe, while the magnetic moment of Eu is anti-parallel with that of Fe. The normalized resistivities of the parent and the La- and Sm-doped compounds exhibit a semiconductor-metal transition, while the Pr-, Nd- and Eu-doped compounds exhibit semiconducting behavior.

Superconductivity and high-field magnetization in EuSr2RuCu2O8

Abstract:The magnetic and transport properties have been investigated by means of magnetization and resistivity measurements for EuSr2RuCu2O8 compound. It is shown that EuSr2RuCu2O8 compound exhibits ferromagnetic order of Ru moments below T-c = 130.2 K and becomes superconducting at T-c = 10 K. The fact that the magnetization increases with increasing external magnetic field and does not show the saturation even at the highest applied field 42 T indicates that the magnetic order in this compound is an itinerant-electron ferromagnetic. It is estimated that Ru exists in a mixed valance state (near Ru4.8+) between Ru4+ and Ru5+ in this compound from the estimated saturation moment value. We have discussed the ferromagnetic order by the viewpoint of a band model. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract:A systematic investigation of structure and magnetic properties of the compounds R3Fe29-xTx (R=Y, Ce, Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, and Dy; T=V and Cr) and their nitrides, carbides and hydrides has been performed. The nitrogenation and carbonization lead to a good improvement in the Curie temperature, the saturation magnetization and anisotropy fields at 4.2 K and room temperature, but the hydrogenation results in a good improvement for some hydrides and an obvious degeneration for other hydrides in the magnetic properties. The uniaxial anisotropy and the good intrinsic magnetic properties of Sm3Fe29-xTxNy and Sm3Fe29-xTxCy make these compounds the hopeful candidates for new high- performance hard magnets.

Abstract:In this letter, we report the preparing method, structure and superconductivity of single crystal LnBa2Cu3O7−y (Ln=Y, Gd, Dy, Yb). The size of the biggest one is 7×3×2 mm3. The results of X-ray diffraction show that they are of orthorhombic structure with space group Pmmm. The superconductivity and magnetic properties of these samples are dicussed.

Abstract:The insulating iron compounds EuSrFeO and SrFeOCl have high-temperature antiferromagnetic (AF) order despite their different layered structures. Here, we carry out density functional calculations and Monte Carlo simulations to study their electronic structures and magnetic properties aided with analyses of the crystal field, magnetic anisotropy, and superexchange. We find that both compounds are Mott insulators and in the high-spin (HS) Fe state ( = 2) accompanied by the weakened crystal field. Although they have different local coordination and crystal fields, the Fe ions have the same level sequence and ground-state configuration (3-)(, )()(-). Then, the multiorbital superexchange produces strong AF couplings, and the (3-)/(, ) mixing via the spin-orbit coupling (SOC) yields a small in-plane orbital moment and anisotropy. Indeed, by tracing a set of different spin-orbital states, our density functional calculations confirm the strong AF couplings and the easy planar magnetization for both compounds. Moreover, using the derived magnetic parameters, our Monte Carlo simulations give the Néel temperature = 420 K (372 K) for the former (the latter), which well reproduce the experimental results. Therefore, the present study provides a unified picture for EuSrFeO and SrFeOCl concerning their electronic and magnetic properties.

Abstract:Using density-functional calculations within the generalized gradient approximation (GGA)+U framework, we investigate the structural, electronic, and magnetic properties of the ground states of SrFeOn (n = 2 and 2.5). The magnetism calculations show that the ground states of both SrFeO2 and SrFeO2.5 have G type antiferromagnetic ordering, with indirect band gaps of 0.89 and 0.79 eV, respectively. The electronic structure calculations demonstrate that Fe cations are in the high-spin state of (dz2)2 (dxz, dyz)2 (dxy)1(dx2–y2)1 (S = 2), unlike the previous prediction of (dxz, dyz)3 (dxy)1 (dz2)1 (dx2–y2)1 (S = 2) for SrFeO2, and in the high-spin state of (dxy, dxz, dyz, dx2–y2, z2)5 (S = 5/2) for SrFeO2.5.

Abstract:Four chair-like hexanuclear Fe-Ln complexes containing mixed organic ligands, namely, [Fe(4)Ln(2){(py)(2)CO2}(4)(pdm)(2)(NO3)(2)(H2O)(2)Cl-4]center dot xCH(3)CN center dot yH(2)O (Ln = Gd-III (1, x = 1, y = 0), Dy-III (2, x = 1, y = 1), Ho-III (3, x = 0, y = 2), and Er-III (4, x = 1, y = 3); (py)(2)CO2H2 = the gem-diol form of di-2-pyridyl ketone and pdmH(2) = 2,6-pyridinedimethanol) have been obtained by employing di-2-pyridyl ketone and 2,6-pyridinedimethanol reacting with FeCl3 and Ln(NO3)(3) in MeCN. The structures of 1-4 are similar to each other except for the number of lattice solvent molecules. Four Fe-III and two Ln(III) in these complexes comprise a chair-like core with the "body" constructed by four Fe-III ions and the "end" constructed by two Ln(III) ions. Among the four compounds, 2 shows field-induced single molecule magnet behavior as revealed by ac magnetic susceptibility studies, with the effective energy barrier and the pre-exponential factor of 22.07 K and 8.44 x 10(-7) s, respectively. Ab initio calculations indicated that, among 2_Dy, 3_Ho and 4_Er fragments, the energy gap between the lowest two spin-orbit states for 2_Dy is the largest, while the tunneling gap for 2 is the smallest. These might be the reasons for complex 2 exhibiting SMM behavior. Additionally, the orientations of the magnetic anisotropy of Dy-III in 2 were obtained by electrostatic calculations and ab initio calculations, both indicating that the directions of the main magnetic axis of Dy1 ions are almost aligned along Dy1-O5 (O5 from the pdm(2-) ligand).

Abstract:This study enhances the multiferroic properties of ErCrO3 with La3+ and Fe3+ doping. Notable changes in magnetic entropy at 90 ± 5 K were observed for Er0.9La0.1Cr0.8Fe0.2O3, with spin redirection occurring at T ≈ 86 K, as confirmed by a four sub‐lattice model. Furthermore, we explain spin redirection using magnetic order correction. This research offers a new perspective on magnetocaloric effects and multiferroic materials. Herein, the multiferroic perovskite Er0.9La0.1Cr0.8Fe0.2O3 was synthesized using the sol–gel method, and its structure and multiferroic properties were investigated. The magnetic order of Er0.9La0.1Cr0.8Fe0.2O3 was analyzed through magnetic entropy change curves. Furthermore, a four‐sublattice molecular field model was constructed to study the spin reorientation phenomena and explain the differences between various spin redirections through magnetic order correction. This work will provide a new perspective for studying the properties of type II multiferroic materials.

Combined Study of Structural, Magnetic and Transport Properties of Eu 0.5 Ln 0.5 BiS 2 F Superconductor

Abstract:Superconductivity below 0.3 K and a charge-density-wave-like（CDW-like） anomaly at 280 K were observed in EuBiS 2 F recently.Here we report a systematic study of structural and transport properties in Eu 0.5 Ln 0.5 BiS 2 F（Ln=La,Ce,Pr,Nd,Sm） by electrical resistivity,magnetization,and specific heat measurements.The lattice constants have a significant change upon rare earth substitution for Eu,suggesting an effective doping.As Ln is changed from Sm to La,the superconducting transition temperature T c increases from 1.55 K to 2.8 K.In contrast to the metallic parent compound,the temperature dependence of electrical resistivity displays semiconductinglike behavior for all the Eu 0.5 Ln 0.5 BiS 2 F samples.Meanwhile,the CDW-like anomaly observed in EuBiS2F is completely suppressed.Unlike the mixed valence state in the undoped compound,Eu ions in these rareearth-doped samples are mainly divalent.A specific anomaly at 1.3 K resembling that in EuBiS2F suggests the coexistence of superconductivity and spin glass state for Eu 0.5 La 0.5 BiS 2 F.Coexistence of ferromagnetic order and superconductivity is found below 2.2 K in Eu 0.5 Ce 0.5 BiS 2 F samples.Our results supplies a rich diagram showing that many interesting properties can be induced in BiS 2 -based compounds.

Abstract:By using the LSDA and LSDA + U method, the electronic and magnetic properties of Ln2SrAl2O7 (Ln = La, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, and Dy) compounds have been investigated in this paper. While comparing the density of states calculated by two methods, the main difference between LSDA and LSDA + U calculations is only obvious for 4f states. The Ln2SrAl2O7 compounds are more like the charge transfer type insulators. The ferromagnetic and possible anti-ferromagnetic states of these compounds are calculated and discussed by Rudeman-Kittel-Kasuya-Yosida (RKKY) model.

Abstract:In this study alloys with stoichiometry of R2Fe17 and R10Fe90-xSix (x = 0, 10, 15, 20) (R = Y, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, and Er) have been prepared. Structural transition from the ordered rhombohedral (OR) Th2Zn17-type structure and the ordered hexagonal (OH) Th2Ni17-type structure to their disordered structures (DR and DH) has been observed according to the XRD patterns. The lattice parameters were obtained by Rietveld analysis and based on the changing characteristic of the parameters, these samples are divided into two categories: alloys with R = Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm and alloys with R = Y, Gd, Td, Dy, Ho, Er. The lattice parameters of the two categories show different changing behavior. For example, from R2Fe17 to R10Fe90, the lattice parameters a decrease and c increase for the latter category, whereas for the former the lattice parameters a and c nearly have no change. In addition, increase of the ratio c/a has been found with increasing Fe or Si content, indicating the introduction of extra Fe dumbbells into the crystal cells, forming the DR or DH intermetallic compounds of R2-y(Fe,Si)(17+2y). The obtained samples with disordered structure have shown better stability than the TbCu7-type metastable materials and the higher Fe concentration gives promise of higher magnetization. The mixed-rare-earth effect has also been studied in the (Ce,R)(10)Fe75Si15 alloys and transition between the DR and DH structures has been realized by changing the mixed R-type or adjusting the Ce/R ratio. As for the magnetic properties, the Curie temperatures are increased remarkably by the introduction of Si and the saturation magnetizations of R10Fe90-xSix are often higher than that of the R2Fe17 alloys.

Abstract:The superstructure in Bi2(Sr0.9La0.1)2CoOy has been studied by the two-stage image-processing technique consisting of image deconvolution and phase extension; and based on the combination of high-resolution electron microscopy and electron diffraction. All unoverlapped atoms including oxygen are resolved in the final projected potential map of resolution of about 1Å. The structure modulation is seen clearly. It is caused by the fluctuation of both atomic positions and occupancy.

Abstract:Lanthanide coordination polymers [LnL(DMF)(2)]center dot 0.25H(2)O [Ln = La (1), Ce (2), Pr (3), Nd (4), Sm (5), Eu (6), Gd (7), Tb (8), Dy (9), Ho (10), Er (11), and Tm (12)], and [GdL(H2O)(3)] (7') (H3L = 5-(4-carboxy-2-nitrophenoxy)-isophthalic acid), have been synthesized under hydro-and solvothermal conditions, respectively. Compounds 1-12 exhibit the same three-dimensional (3D) architecture, which is built up from binuclear paddle-wheel building blocks, and their resulting frameworks can be rationalized as rarely reported flu-3,6-C2/c topology. Compound 7' crystallizes in the monoclinic system, space group P2(1)/c. The ligands (L) bridge the Gd(III) centers to form 3D frameworks featuring a zeolite BCT topology, which have been unreported based on rare earth metals until now. Moreover, compound 6 exhibits characteristic red luminescent properties of Eu(III) complexes. The magnetic susceptibilities, over a temperature range of 2.0-300 K, of 7 and 7' have also been investigated.

Abstract:The electronic energy structures and magnetic properties of iron-based compounds with group VI elements (FeTe, BiFeO$_3$, SrFe$_{12}$O$_{19}$ and SrCoTiFe$_{10}$O$_{19}$) are studied using the density functional theory (DFT) methods. Manifestations of different types of chemical bonds in magnetism of these compounds are studied theoretically. Calculations of electronic structures of these systems were performed using the generalized gradient approximation (GGA) for description of the exchange and correlation effects within DFT. For SrFe$_{12}$O$_{19}$ and SrCoTiFe$_{10}$O$_{19}$ hexaferrites the GGA+$U$ method was also employed to deal with strongly correlated 3$d$-electrons. The calculations have revealed distinctive features of electronic structure of the investigated iron-based compounds with strongly correlated 3$d$-electrons, which can be responsible for their peculiar structural and magnetic properties.
Magnetic, Electronic, and Thermal Transport Properties of the Quasi-Two-dimensional Sr 3 Fe 2 O 6.6 Single Crystal

Abstract:The structural, magnetic, electronic, and thermal transport properties of Sr3Fe2O6.6 single crystal were investigated by the room-temperature X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), electrical resistivity ρ(T), specific heat Cp(T), and electron spin resonance (ESR) measurement. The single crystal has been grown by the floating zone method. The as-grown crystal can be indexed by a tetragonal lattice with the space group I4/mmm. The oxygen content determined by the XPS measurement is approximately 6.6, which was verified in the magnetic susceptibility measurement. The incommensurate antiferromagnetic-transition temperature is about TN=62K, and the magnetic susceptibility of the sample were anisotropic. The electrical resistivity ρ(T) shows a semiconducting behavior with an energy gap Eα=0.134eV and non-magnetoresistance behavior. The Cp(T) data exhibits that the Debye temperature ΘD is larger than the theoretical value. The reciprocal of magnetic susceptibility to CW law is verified by the ESR results. The resonance field and the g-factor exhibit anisotropy.
