Abstract:In light of the most widely used pressurized water reactor (PWR) nuclear power units (NPUs) in China,the interaction and mutual influence between grid-related generator protection of nuclear power plants and automatic security devices of power grids are analyzed,and the coordination and control principle between them is proposed.Based on the existing models for PWR NPUs in PSD-FDS,the dynamic performance of NPUs and power grids due to voltage and frequency disturbance are studied.Then the action performance of grid-related generator protection (such as the over-speed protection, over-excitation limitation and protection,abnormal frequency protection,and primary pump protection)and automatic security devices (such as generator tripping at a high frequency and load shedding at a low frequency) are analyzed,as well as the mutual influence and coordination between them.Finally,the coordination principle is validated with case studies based on an actual power grid.The principle can be used as a reference for the study of coordination control and parameter optimization for nuclear power plants and the power grid connected.

Abstract:The risk control and management of transportable pressure special equipment are closely related to public safety and social economic development.In order to meet requirements of the safe,efficient storage and transportation of new types of energy resources such as natural gas and hydrogen,energy-saving and environmental protection,transportable pressure special equipment trends toward extremity,lightweight and complication.There are series of scientific and technical problems,especially in terms of damage and failure modes identification,construction of new equipment such as lightweight equipment and super cryogenic insulation equipment,and dynamic risk monitoring,assessment,warning and emergency.The objective,scheme design,research contents,basic theory and key technology,technical route,expected results,desired economic and social benefits of the National Key R&D Program of China" Research on the Key Technologies of Risk Control and Management of Transportable Pressure Special Equipment" were introduced.

Abstract:This paper made a description of mixed-traffic phenomenon in china briefly.It summarized the research development worldwide.Characteristics of both bicycle and pedestrian crossing intersection were analyzed,including arrival and departure procedure.The problem of vehicle and non-vehicle collision was studied,and an effective resolve method was worked out for it.Finally,the calculation for mixed-traffic integrated volume rate was researched,and the coefficients of bicycle for different circumstance are given out.

Abstract:With rapid economic development, China faces a great challenge to meet its increasing energy demand. Currently, China's energy supply is dominated by coal consumption, while natural gas and oil are in relative short supply. At the same time, nuclear energy is a relatively clean energy without green-house gas emissions. Considering the growing cost of fossil energy and the limited resources in China, oil supply security, coal mining disasters, the domestic environment pressure, and global climate warming, nuclear energy is an inevitable strategic option.Generally speaking, nuclear energy development has a promising future in China. Its driving factors include the brisk electricity demand, environment impact pressure, oil supply security, and positive public acceptance. Meanwhile, the question still remains whether nuclear energy development in China is sustainable. Just like in other parts of the world, China is also bewildered by the problems of reactor safety, nuclear waste treatment, and risk of proliferation of weapons material. In addition, nuclear technology diversity, shortage of uranium resources, and weak market competitiveness of nuclear power in the short term are certain barriers that China's nuclear energy development also faces. There are also other worrying issues such as: whether public acceptance in the future will change? Whether the current approaches to nuclear waste disposal are still acceptable when nuclear plants gains scale?In this paper, some suggestions and recommendations are put forward on the measures to be followed to 1) enhance domestic nuclear technology development and imported technology localization; 2) reduce the cost of nuclear power and enhance its market competitiveness; 3) accelerate the process of cleanly developing nuclear technology; 4) accelerate the process of developing more efficient reactor and nuclear fuel cycle; and 5) conduct effective publicity work to uphold public acceptance.

Abstract:The constructions and operations of new energy vehicles' charging infrastructure have great significance for the promotion and application. In recent years, the Chinese charging infrastructure has made some achievements, however, there are still some prob-lems. The overall development of charging infrastructure is lagging behind the growth of new energy vehicles, which makes a constraint to sustainable development of the new energy vehicles industry. This paper analyzes the current situation of global and China's new ener-gy vehicles charging infrastructure, and expounds the problems from the industry and the enterprise level systematically. Moreover, combined with the future development trend of the new energy vehicles, we present the specific strategies and recommendations to speed up the construction of charging infrastructure.

Abstract:The design philosophy, overall performance, safety, and economy of three typical generation III (GIII) pressurized water reactors, EPR, AES2006, and CAP1400, are analyzed comprehensively in this paper. Based on comparison with and the lessons learned from the Fukushima nuclear accident, we forecast a future reactor for China’s commercial nuclear power plant. Moreover, we put forward important technological fields of GIII nuclear power plants to which attention should be paid, including the enhancement of defense in depth, defense against extreme external events, severe accident mitigation, design simplification and standardization, improvement in economic competitiveness, load following capability, and adaptation to climate change.

Abstract:Nuclear and radioactive terrorism is one of the most challenging threats to international security. Currently, international nuclear security system mainly confirms to the IAEA rules, which demands to strictly inspect persons and their luggage entering nuclear facilities. However, the vehicles are simply checked by radiation detection gantry and chassis scanning. These checking methods can’t find the well-shielded nuclear material or the hidden explosives or other dangerous items, which is a great potential danger to nuclear security system. A new-type vehicle inspection system is developed under the support of China Nuclear Energy Development Project. Adopting the dual-projection digital radiography technology with a moving gantry structure, the system can get both sideview and upward-view images simultaneously, which makes it easier to find hidden objects and recognize the well-shielded prohibited items such as explosives and nuclear materials. The system is of great significance to prevent nuclear materials theft and nuclear terrorism.

Abstract:Aiming at increasingly serious road traffic situation in China, based on the characteristics of urban road traffic safety, and start with the occurrence mechanism of traffic accident, the macro regularity of road traffic accident is analyzed and studied. From the view of safety system engineering, unsafe human behavior and unsafe state of object in road traffic system could be eliminated by formulating scientific and rational urban road traffic safety management plan, perfecting urban traffic accident emergency rescue system, reinforcing traffic participants' safety awareness and comprehensively coordinating the relationship among roads, traffic flow and road administrators. A clear view of current situation and development trend in future are described. Planning the long-term, while making decision at present would realize the prevention first instead of taking remedial measures after the accident occurred. This study could provide some guidance and practical value in raising the overall level of traffic safety management.

Abstract:The current situations and building way of fire-protection standard for nuclear plant in foreign countries are introduced. Considering the developing technical route of Chinese nuclear plant and problems in the current fire-protection standard,the necessity and feasibility of building fire-protection standard for Chinese nuclear plant are pointed out. Based on the specific circumstances in China,issues that how to build fire-protection standard for nuclear plant with Chinese characteristics,and the basic mode of import of foreign talents and improvement are discussed. Aiming at the diversified nuclear plant types,elements of ergonomics,decreasing pollution,and avoiding involved accidents and fire hazards,the corresponding construction measures are suggested.

Abstract:China is rich in a variety of energy resources, but because of a huge population, her energy resources per capita is small, and China’s composition of energy resources is irrational, and the energy resource distribution and productivity layout are out of balance. As a kind of clean energy, nuclear power plays an irreplaceable role in meeting the energy challenges. Developing nuclear power is an effective way in China's adjustment of the energy distribution. At present, China’s nuclear power development has entered a stage of large-scaled stage in certain quantities. With advancing of technology and back-feeding of the operation experience, and with gradual introduction of the new and mature technologies, the safety of the second generation upgraded PWR nuclear power plants has been materially and further improved. Needless to say, the third generation nuclear technology should be actively introduced and digested for an even higher safety goal and for even higher technology advancement. Speeding up development of the thermal breeder reactor and constructing the nuclear fuel cycle system can dramatically increase the uranium utilization efficiency from the present less than 1% to 60% ~ 70%, thus can effectively prevent the threat from the exhaustion of uranium resources.

Abstract:This paper proposes to design security measures based on the radioactive material package as the basic unit. The principle of four-layer defense in depth is put forward. Based on the concept of self-security intelligence, combined with out-of-vehicle monitoring, in-vehicle monitoring, and Beidou positioning technology, a security system for transport of radioactive materials was designed. It realized the perception, early warning, delay, and alarm functions and greatly improved the security.

Abstract:Sustainable development of Chinese economy in twenty-first century will mainly rely on self-supply of clean energy with indigenous natural resources. The burden of current coal-dominant energy mix and the stress on reduction of CO2 emission due to energy consumptions has led nuclear power to be an indispensable choice for further growth of Chinese electricity generation capacity. This paper describes the challenges nuclear safety issues in post-Fukushima era related to the development of nuclear industry of China. Three major challenges that China’s nuclear energy market is facing are addressed, which include: safety standards, speed of NPP construction, and advanced technologies. This study emphasizes that China should implement sustainable energy development policy and pay great attention to advanced nuclear technologies with passive and inherent safety in future.

Abstract:Energy consumption for transport purposes has increased rapidly in China over the past decade. China’s transport industry has undergone remarkable developments in energy conservation through structural, technological and managerial measures. The paper analyzes energy-conservation policies and measures related to road transport in China. The paper also identifies constraints for these policies and measures. The transport management authorities face a series of difficulties associated with methods, costs, public awareness, and management systems. Suggestions for improvement are also offered, including promotion of energy-efficient private vehicles, advances in business vehicle energy conservation, exploiting the energy potential of urban traffic and infrastructure development for energy-efficient clean vehicles.

Abstract:The transportation industry is one of the largest consumers of fossil fuels and sources of carbon dioxide emission, with highway transportation accounting for more than 70% of the total. In order to promote efficient, clean, diversified, and intelligent use of energy, this study proposes an innovative application technology model for integrating highway transportation and energy to improve the utilization of clean energy and reduce the proportion of fossil energy and carbon emissions in highway transportation. This study addresses the current problems of green energy development in China’s highways, and combines green low-carbon development policies in international transportation with inspirations based on experience. Based on the principles of safety, efficiency, environmental friendliness, wisdom, and economy, this study systematically analyzes the current situation of green energy application in China’s highway transportation. It proposes one core objective, two major roles, and five major security systems of development measures for green energy application China’s highway transportation with the aim of promoting the transformation and upgrade of China’s highway transportation industry. This study can also help to achieve green and low-carbon development of highway transportation and provides a decision-making reference for the ecological civilization construction goals of the industry.

Abstract:In recent years, human society has observed a world-widely increasing number of cyberattacks, with increasing complexities, applied onto different information, telecommunication and control (ITC) systems including those in the nuclear power plants (NPPs). The target of those attacks against NPPs can be various subsystems of instrumental and control (I&C) systems, e.g. reactor protection systems, engineering workstations, etc. In response to the rising threats from the cyber space, regulations and technologies have been and are being developed to protect and enhance the cyber-security of I&C systems. Recently, a number of regulations and standards have been made for the prevention and mitigation of cyber threats. Meanwhile, an increasing number of research works have been published with the focuses on cyber-security assessment and protection To understand what are the cyber-attacks, how are they implemented, what are their consequences, how to analyze, assess and predict the cyber threats as well as what are the protection mechanisms, what are the optimal ways of deploy them, are beneficial to both researchers and practitioners. In this paper, we will deliver a state-of-the-art overview on various aspects of the cyber-security of NPP.

Abstract:The characteristics of electric vehicle traffic accident are usual y different from those of traditional gasoline car. The battery pack, the core component of electric vehicle, can easily cause secondary accident during the impact process. This paper analyzes its current characteristics and presents some protection measures both at home and abroad. Based on the above investigation, a no-vel structure of the battery pack protection is proposed and it also discusses its effectiveness through numerical simulation.

Abstract:With the development of nuclear power industry in China, the proportion of nuclear power generation in the total power generation is constantly rising. As the power system is always faced with the threat of faults of different degrees, these faults will not only affect the power quality, but also are potential risks for nuclear power units with high safety requirements. Therefore, it is necessary to study the influence of typical power system faults on nuclear power units. The corresponding control strategies for typical power system fault conditions are studied. The primary frequency regulation (PFR) parameter optimization scheme and overspeed protection optimization scheme proposed in this paper can effectively solve the frequency disturbance and steam turbine overspeed problems caused by power system faults. The research results can provide reference for large PWR nuclear power units to deal with typical power system faults, and have certain engineering application value.
