Abstract:An efficient cascade method has been developed for the synthesis of aza[2,1-b][1,3]-benzothiazinones from cyclic thiourea and methyl 2-iodobenzoate via the Cu(I)-catalyzed C–S coupling/amidation process. A number of aza[2,1-b][1,3]-benzothiazinones containing five, six, seven membered rings and different substituents were obtained in good yield.

Abstract:Cu-II-catalysed diazo transfer and Cu-I-catalysed azide-alkyne 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition (CuAAC) "click chemistry" were used to synthesis C7N aminocyclitol-derivatised 1,2,3-triazoles. In the course of this work, the -N=N- moiety was transferred onto C7N aminocyclitols such as validamine, valienamine and valiolamine by employing imidazole-1-sulfonyl azide as the diazo transfer reagent with catalysis by Cu-II, Zn-II and Ni-II, in moderate to good yields. The obtained azidocyclitols were coupled with various terminal alkynes under modified Meldal's conditions with good to excellent yields. The stereo- and regiochemistry of the products were confirmed by 2D-NMR (NOESY and HMBC). One-pot syntheses of the corresponding 1,2,3-triazoles, as safer and more efficient procedures, were also investigated and gave moderate to good yields.

Abstract:Here, a general copper-catalyzed radical cascade carbocyclization reaction with 2-arylbenzoimidazoles and a Togni reagent was realized. Structurally diverse CF3-containing tetracyclic core benzimidazo[2,1-a]isoquinoline-6(5H)-ones were obtained in moderate to good yields. The wide substrate scope, good functional group tolerance, and ease of scale-up of this method are expected to promote its potential applications in pharmacy and biotechnology.

Abstract:A novel copper-catalyzed cascade synthesis of thiazolidine-2-thiones from N-(2-bromoallyl) amines and carbon disulfide has been developed. The procedure combines carbamodithioic acid formation and copper-catalyzed intramolecular S-vinylation in one sequence. By elevating the temperature, the one-pot reaction efficiently affords thiazole-2(3H)-thiones in moderate to good yields.

Abstract:An efficient approach for the synthesis of 2-trifluoromethyl-benzimidazoles via cascade annulation of tri-fluoroacetimidoyl chlorides and amines using a heterogeneous copper doped g-C3N4 catalyst has been developed. Compared with the previously reported homogeneous catalytic system, the reaction exhibits higher efficiency and the copper doped g-C3N4 catalyst can be readily recycled for three times with slightly decreased catalytic reactivity.

Abstract:A Cu-catalyzed tandem synthesis of azole-fused pyrimido[1,2-c]quinazolines and imidazo[1,2-c]quinazolines has been developed. This protocol includes an intermolecular N-acylation followed by a copper-catalyzed intramolecular C--S coupling reaction. The novel method provides diverse and useful poly N-heterocyclic compounds for combinatorial chemistry and medicinal chemistry.

Abstract:A one-pot synthesis of substituted pyridines via a cascade reaction of 2-azido-24-dienoates with alpha-diazocarbonyl compounds and triphenylphosphine is reported. The process involves a Staudinger-Meyer reaction, a Wolff rearrangement, ail aza-Wittig reaction, and an electrocyclic ring- closure. The procedure is general and efficient. The substrates are readily available.

Abstract:A copper-catalyzed decarboxylative cascade cyclization of propargylic cyclic carbonates/carbamates with pyridinium 1,4-zwitterionic thiolates is developed. A range of fused polyheterocyclic compounds are obtained in moderate to good yields with excellent diastereoselectivities. Of particular note is that four new bonds (two C-C, one C-O/N, one C-S) and four new stereocenters could be efficiently embedded into the tetracyclic fused scaffolds in a single step.

Abstract:CuOTf-catalyzed substituent-controlled cascade [2 + 2 + 2] and [4 + 2] annulation reactions among heterocumulenes, alkynes, and diaryliodonium salts were achieved. Various quinoline derivatives could be obtained in good yields with excellent selectivity. This methodology provided a novel pathway to activate heterocumulenes via a unique highly reactive cationic intermediate. The reaction process was well elucidated by density functional theory calculations.

Abstract:An operationally mild and efficient synthesis of benzothiazolopyrimidine is achieved by a three-component reaction of 2-aminebenzo[d]thiazoles, sulfonyl azides and terminal ynones.
